Chapter 23: Her Advances Towards Him
Alice's eyes widened slightly. Ten billion dollars? she thought, stunned. So, he was desperate enough to throw money around like water. A smirk tugged at her lips. This was interesting—very interesting. Now, she understood her position.
Mr Hunt had been the person, offering that huge sum of money, for consultation haha well then, she had the upper hand she thought to herself. Her plans of seducing him vanished on the spot. If he wanted Dr. Anti so badly, then she had the upper hand.
She waited a while, and when Marcus began to leave. She started straightening herself, Alice pushed the door open, stepping inside as if she hadn't just been eavesdropping. Marcus's eyes widened slightly, when he saw her, a flicker of surprise crossing his face as he greeted her with a polite nod,
"Miss Wilson"
Why did this woman look much beautiful today? If he was asked on the spot he would say this was definitely, the most beautiful woman he had ever seen he pulled himself together concealing his surprise.
She returned the nod coolly before turning her gaze to Jermin.
Jermin's eyes darkened as they settled on her.
His gaze locked onto her, his eyes deepening as they traveled from her head to toe, lingering on her form-fitting dress. Despite restraining himself, he swallowed, his throat going dry.
Her entrance had caught him off guard, and for a moment, something flickered in his gaze a predatory gleam that vanished as quickly as it appeared.
He wondered if she was here to apologize, or seduce him or maybe, both?
Her appearance, had stirred something within him and a faint anticipation was coiling in his chest. But then he remembered the encounter the day before—the way she had behaved with John in the private room, doing something shameless and coming to him the next day?. This woman was really shameless he thought and his expression instantly hardened, becoming cold and aloof once more.
Alice who was oblivious that her appearance alone, had given someone a hard time and self conflicting inner thoughts, wasted no time as she asked him."Why did you reject the business proposal Mr Hunt?" she asked bluntly, crossing her arms. "Bringing personal matters into work like that is childish and stupid. If you have a grudge against me, settle it directly, instead of dragging it into business."
Jermin's face grew thunderous at her audacity. "I don't like you," he said icily, his golden piercing catching the light as he spoke. "And I don't want anything to do with you or what you represent."
She remained unfazed, her smile growing. Making Jermin a little confused "Are you sure about that?" she asked lazily, her tone mocking.
"Absolutely," he confirmed, his eyes narrowing. "As long as it's you, I'll never agree..unless..nevermind"He trailed off his breath hitched as his gaze lingered on her body why did she have to look extremely seductive?. He felt that she had ulterior motives and instantly his face hard again..
Alice became a little angry, hearing his stament, this man was really pushing his luck... If not for her aunt's statement earlier today she would have turned and walked out...
Her smile widened, turning almost playful. "Then I suppose I won't be agreeing to any of your proposals, either."
His eyes narrowed further in confusion. when had he ever proposed anything to this woman? The only person he could clearly remember offering proposals was Dr Anti so what was she talking about.."What the hell are you talking about? When have I ever proposed anything to you and why would I?"
She met his gaze head-on. "I'm talking about your relentless offers to Dr. Anti. No matter how much you raise the consultation fee, I will keep declining it."
The shock on Jermin's face was palpable, and he stared at her in disbelief, trying to process her words. After a while, his expression turned mocking. "You? Dr. Anti?" he scoffed. "Don't embarrass yourself, Miss Willson"
Alice's smile didn't waver. Calmly, she pulled her phone from her clutch and, right in front of him, called her assistant. "Cancel the latest consultation request," she said coldly, her voice ringing clear. "The one with the highest offer."
Jermin's fury was building just when his own phone rang. He answered, and Marcus's voice came through the line: "Sir, Dr. Anti just canceled the latest offer. It was declined just moments ago."
His eyes snapped back to Alice, who stood there, looking victorious and indifferent with a big smile all at once. She was Dr. Anti.
For the first time in a long while, Jermin was speechless. His mind raced, trying to figure out how the powerful Dr anti he had been pursuing had a connection with the woman standing in front of him. How were they the same person?
Realization hit him hard. He had misjudged her he had thought she slept with men to attain what she had but, Since she was Dr Anti it was quite reasonable to be able to attain them—yet his doubts and reservations remained. Even if she was Dr. Anti, he couldn't forget her connection to men like John he knew they did something yesterday or so he thought and the fact that she already had a child,,, and not to forget her continious advances towards him..
He pushed aside his conflicting thoughts, his gaze turning calculating. He had to keep her cooperation, no matter what. A slow, almost mischievous smile curved his lips, the light catching on his piercing and making his already handsome features all the more stunning. "If you don't agree to my consultation request," he said smoothly, "I'll make sure your business proposal is permanently rejected."
Alice's expression didn't even flicker. "Go ahead," she replied, her tone dismissive.
Jermin's confident smile froze as he watched her turn and leave the office, her heels clicking confidently against the floor. He knew he couldn't afford to cancel her proposal—his grandfather had warned him against it, and her identity as Dr. Anti made her indispensable.
