Naruto : Behind The Scenes Big Boss System

Chapter 73: Forming Brotherhood (2/4)

Gazing at the stone that had landed on the opposite bank of the river, Hashirama appeared to have gained some clarity. He stood up woodenly, staring blankly at Madara beside him.

The look in his eyes seemed as though he were gazing at a long-lost friend, and coupled with Madara's confident smile, the scene brimmed with an inexplicable sense of camaraderie.

Madara turned to him and said, "Even if I don't fully know your thoughts, I do know that you…"

"What?"

"Your hairstyle and outfit… they're painfully outdated." His tone abruptly shifted to teasing.

Well said!

Gen silently cheered in his heart. Hashirama's hairstyle and outfit had long been a point he wanted to criticize.

Watching the two interact, Gen felt a wave of emotion. As expected of Indra and Asura's reincarnations—despite being born into different clans, they are instinctively drawn to each other. Perhaps this is the "bond" often mentioned in the world of Naruto.

With this thought, Gen suddenly stood up and chuckled softly. "If the two of you wish to change this flawed world, why not start with the three of us?"

Madara and Hashirama turned to him simultaneously, confused. "What do you mean?"

Grinning, Gen clapped his hands to summon a table. With a boom, an altar appeared, complete with three bowls of clear sake and three lit incense sticks arranged neatly on it.

"This is…"

"It's a unique application of my space-time ninjutsu. Cool, huh?"

"Who cares about that…"

Gen laughed heartily but quickly turned serious. "Madara just said that the only way to change the world is through mutual trust, openness, and forming bonds as brothers. If that's the case, why not start with us? Forget the rules of the ninja world—let's reveal our true names here and swear brotherhood. If even we can't do this, how can we talk about changing the world?"

Gen's words left the two utterly stunned, their eyes fixed on him, speechless. However, Gen simply smiled casually and said, "I'll go first. My true name is Uchiha Gen. Nice to meet you both."

"Gen… You…" Madara stared at him, his expression conflicted. He opened his mouth as though to speak but swallowed his words, his face full of hesitation and struggle.

Gen looked directly at the two and said calmly, "I've given my answer. Now it's your turn."

Hashirama clenched his fists tightly, his body trembling slightly. He lowered his head, seemingly overwhelmed by emotion. Suddenly, he lifted his head, tears streaming down his face but accompanied by a radiant smile. "We can do it. We must do it. If we work together, we can change this world. I'm Hashirama—Senju Hashirama. Nice to meet you."

"Madara, what about you?" Gen turned to Madara.

Hearing Hashirama reveal his identity as a Senju caused Madara to tremble. Slowly, the conflict and hesitation faded from his expression, replaced with resoluteness. "I'm Madara—Uchiha Madara. Nice to meet you."

The three young boys, meeting for only the second time, looked at each other and burst into hearty laughter.

Gen gestured towards the altar. "Let's swear brotherhood. From this day forward, we're family."

By the riverside, the three knelt before the altar, side by side, bowing in unison as they swore an oath of eternal brotherhood. Each of their expressions carried different emotions.

Madara maintained a composed exterior, but his furrowed brow betrayed a hint of doubt. For him, this decision was fraught with uncertainty. The Senju were enemies, and now he was swearing brotherhood with one. Could he truly uphold this vow if faced with tough choices in the future? He wasn't sure...

Hashirama wore the brightest smile, firmly believing this was a divine revelation. With their alliance, the centuries-long feud between the Senju and Uchiha could finally end. Together, they would fix this broken world.

Gen's face, in contrast, was eerily calm. While bowing, his gaze seemed to wander towards the distance, as though peering at something invisible yet watching. He knew someone—or something—was silently observing.

The name of that unseen observer was Black Zetsu, the mastermind hidden in the shadows, whose ultimate goal was the resurrection of Kaguya Ōtsutsuki.

From the moment Gen received the system's task to unify the world, he had anticipated encountering Black Zetsu. As an aspiring behind-the-scenes boss, Gen knew Black Zetsu would be his rival. Yet Black Zetsu was cunning, leaving no trace of his presence. But no matter—if Gen couldn't find Black Zetsu, he'd force him to show himself.

This act—swearing brotherhood with Hashirama and Madara—was his first calculated move.

Heh, Black Zetsu, you probably didn't see this coming, did you? My first move has already been made. How will you respond?

With these thoughts in mind, Gen kept his expression serene, bowing alongside the others as they recited their vows of eternal loyalty.

The three stood, lifting the bowls of sake from the altar, and drank together in one go.

With their bonds solidified, the three boys chatted for hours, until dusk fell. Suddenly, Hashirama exclaimed, "Oh no, I'm late! I have to go! Let's meet here next time!"

With a few quick leaps, he vanished into the forest on the other side of the river.

Madara and Gen exchanged a glance and began heading back to their respective clans. Madara seemed particularly invigorated, clenching his fists with renewed determination. He dreamed of transforming the world, disregarding the age-old feud between the Senju and Uchiha, along with the looming familial pressures his actions might bring.

Gen, on the other hand, smiled and encouraged Madara's optimism, making him feel even more motivated.

Upon returning home, Gen ate the meal prepared by his servant while contemplating the day's events. By meddling in the original storyline, what will happen next? Will Hashirama and Madara still fall apart? How will Black Zetsu react?

Gen smiled faintly. The unknown is what makes it fun. If everything followed the script, then what's the point of me being here?

After finishing his meal, Gen quietly instructed his servant, "Prepare a full-body black robe for me, adult-sized. Also, make me a spiral-patterned mask. I'll need it later."

He trusted her completely after recent events. Opening the system exchange page, he glanced at his remaining 20,000 points and sighed. I wanted to save these for unlocking the Mangekyō Sharingan, but it looks like I'll have to spend them.

"System, exchange for Hollowfication."

"Hollowfication: S-rank Mangekyō Sharingan technique. Cost: 10,000 points. Mangekyō Sharingan required. Detected: Three Tomoe Sharingan. Forcible exchange available at 5,000 points. Proceed?"

"Yes."
