Naruto : Behind The Scenes Big Boss System

Chapter 72: Thrown Across (1/4)

The two walked to his side, one on the left and one on the right. Madara was the first to speak. "Yo, long time no see."

Gen rolled his eyes from the side. What a lame way to greet someone! At times like this, you should just charge in and kick him into the river. That's the proper way to say hello.

"Um... your name is..." Madara hesitated.

"Hashirama," Senju Hashirama replied gloomily. It was obvious he wasn't in a good mood.

"What's going on? Why are you so down today? Did something happen?"

"Why do you care? I'm fine," Hashirama replied, his tone laced with a hint of sobbing.

"Yeah, right. Just tell us what's wrong."

"Nothing."

"Come on, spill it."

"No, seriously, it's nothing."

Madara was about to persuade him further when Gen stepped forward and stopped him with a hand. Watching the back-and-forth between the two was amusing, but dragging it out like this was going to take forever. It was time to take matters into his own hands.

Madara gave Gen a puzzled look as he retreated a few steps at Gen's signal.

Gen chuckled and said loudly, "Come on, man. If you're upset, just say it. Acting all hesitant like some delicate flower is pointless. Here, if you're feeling bad, I'll fight you. A good brawl will fix it."

As Gen spoke, he charged forward, chakra focused on his feet, and stomped hard toward Hashirama. The riverbank erupted in a shower of rubble, and Hashirama narrowly dodged, his face pale.

"What the hell?! You're trying to kill me, aren't you?! You're definitely trying to kill me!"

Gen cracked his knuckles, ignoring Hashirama's outburst, and threw a punch straight at his face.

Hashirama's eyes sharpened. Right now, he was overwhelmed with sadness and frustration, needing an outlet. Fighting wasn't a bad option.

Dodging the incoming punch with a side step, Hashirama blocked Gen's follow-up strike with his left arm, creating an opening near Gen's chest. He immediately gathered chakra into his right fist and struck toward Gen's torso.

"Not bad—Senju's taijutsu skills are impressive," Gen thought as he parried Hashirama's punch and launched a counterattack.

For about thirty seconds, they exchanged blows fiercely. Finally, Gen landed a solid uppercut on Hashirama's jaw, sending him stumbling back three steps, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth.

This hit truly ignited Hashirama's fighting spirit. He activated his chakra fully and surged forward with unprecedented speed, aiming a punch directly at Gen's jaw.

But Gen smirked inwardly. Like I'm going to keep fighting you.

In an instant, Gen disappeared, reappearing next to Madara using the Flying Thunder God Technique.

Madara glanced down and saw a kunai embedded in a stone beneath his feet. Before he could react, Gen gave him a swift kick, sending him stumbling forward.

"What the hell are you doing?!" Madara glared back furiously.

Gen innocently pointed at Hashirama, who was now charging forward in a rage. "Your turn. Just don't kill him."

Madara was about to argue when Hashirama's fists came flying at him. With no choice, he engaged in the fight.

Hashirama's taijutsu skills were indeed formidable. By Gen's estimation, in this era, there were few of the same age who could match him. Even the Madara of the original timeline would have been slightly inferior at this age.

However, under Gen's influence, Madara had improved drastically, surpassing his original potential. His enhanced taijutsu left Hashirama struggling.

Two minutes later, Madara had Hashirama pinned to the ground, pummeling him relentlessly.

Decades later, Madara would recall this moment as one of the most satisfying battles of his life—one of the rare times he got to thoroughly thrash Hashirama.

True friendship among men is forged through fists, Gen mused. He couldn't recall where he'd heard that phrase, but it sure rang true.

Five minutes later, the three of them stood side by side on the riverbank, each holding a stone for skipping across the water. Hashirama's face was battered and bruised, courtesy of Madara.

Madara, on the other hand, was in better shape but had his nose broken again. Ever since Gen broke it the first time, it seemed to have become a recurring issue.

Gen stood there grinning, completely unscathed. He'd conveniently bowed out and let Madara take the brunt of Hashirama's wrath.

The three simultaneously tossed their stones across the water. As the stones skipped across the surface, two reached the opposite shore while the third sank midway.

Hashirama and Gen turned to look at Madara with a side-eye, their expressions silently screaming, Loser.

"You bastards!" Madara growled, clenching his fists in anger.

After this encounter, the three grew significantly closer. Hashirama finally shared the reason for his sorrow—something Gen had already known.

"My little brother... he's dead." As he spoke, tears streamed down Hashirama's face. Staring at the flowing river, he added, "I came here because watching this river makes it feel like my grief is being washed away. You two—Madara, Gen—don't you feel the same? Do you have brothers?"

Madara turned to the river, lost in thought. "I had five brothers once... I used to." His voice was heavy with emotion, and he briefly glanced at Gen before looking back at the river.

"I don't know what my real parents looked like. They died when I was very young. I had no real brothers, only five cousins. Now there are two left," Gen said, his tone intentionally somber as he gazed at the river. Only he knew what he was truly thinking.

Hashirama stared at them in shock. "Used to?"

Madara tossed a stone casually. "We're shinobi. We don't know when we might die. If there's a way to ensure survival, it'd be to share everything with the enemy, to form bonds as brothers. But that's impossible—people's hearts are unpredictable. No one can truly know another's intentions."

He threw his stone across the river. "For all you know, the other side might be seething with rage."

As the stone skipped across the water, Hashirama muttered, "Is it really impossible to open up to one another?"

"I don't know," Madara replied. "But I come here often to think about it, hoping to find an answer."

Madara's stone finally landed on the far shore with a soft thud.

"This time, it feels like I've finally found the right direction. Not just you two—this time, even I... I've made it across," Madara said with a faint smile.
