Chapter 121: The Gathering Storm

Reflecting on the events of the past few months, Baishi realized something critical: the bottleneck for his evolution was no longer energy scarcity but the slow rate of transformation.

Just one ability, [Self-Healing], had taken nearly nine months to break through the boundary from Level VIII.

He had multiple abilities at a similar level requiring upgrades, not to mention the others lagging behind. How long would all that take?

"What's he doing in Konoha?"

Thanks to his Spatial Awareness being Level IX, Baishi could now teleport up to 500 kilometers in a single jump.

Although the chakra cost increased significantly with distance, this was no concern for Baishi. Between his massive chakra pool of over 800 points and the ability to continuously draw from the Nine-Tails, the cost was negligible.

In the clan's central meeting area, over thirty Uchiha clan members, led by Yatsushiro Uchiha, Inahiko Uchiha, and Tekka Uchiha, stood quietly, seemingly waiting for someone.

Though this world's events differed from Baishi's memories, the Nine-Tails incident still left a lasting impact on Konoha.

When the Nine-Tails went berserk, its Sharingan-reflected pupils were visible for all to see. This intensified distrust and hostility toward the Uchiha clan.

Minato Namikaze had kept Obito's identity hidden to avoid further complications, even though exposing him might have mitigated some of the Uchiha's blame. Unfortunately, Obito was still an Uchiha.

Danzo took advantage of the reconstruction efforts to propose relocating various clans. Predictably, the Uchiha were moved to the outskirts of the village.

Minato wanted to intervene, but with Homura Mitokado and Koharu Utatane siding with Danzo and Hiruzen tacitly agreeing, Minato had no choice but to acquiesce.

In an attempt to bridge the gap, Minato began promoting Uchiha clan members to important positions, fostering dialogue between the village and the clan.

The policy yielded results, with the Uchiha's relationship with Konoha gradually improving. It was foreseeable that, given another decade or two, the Uchiha could reintegrate fully into the village.

But not everyone wanted that.

Danzo continued his clandestine schemes, spreading rumors about the Uchiha and orchestrating provocations. Though Minato countered these efforts, Danzo wasn't the biggest threat—Obito was.

Obito, knowing his goals required opposing all of the ninja world, had no desire for a strong Konoha.

Last time, the Nine-Tails attack failed to weaken the village significantly. This time, his sights were set on the Uchiha clan itself.

Leveraging his Mangekyo Sharingan and intimate knowledge of the clan, Obito gained the allegiance of certain hawkish members.

Though Minato's efforts had mended some divisions, the wounds hadn't fully healed. Suspicion still lingered among many Uchiha, and Obito exploited that expertly.

Still, Obito wasn't satisfied.

His end goal wasn't to recruit more subordinates but to ignite a civil war between the Uchiha and Konoha, weakening the village as a whole.

For that, he needed a more charismatic figure to rally the clan.

Foiled by Tobirama's preemptive actions, Setsuna was captured and imprisoned, where he had languished for fifteen years.

Tonight, Obito had promised to free him.

Though Setsuna's strength had diminished with age, his influence within the clan was undeniable. Many of the hawkish Uchiha had been his subordinates.

With his support, Obito's plan would reach a tipping point.

An explosion echoed across Konoha.

From atop the Hokage Office building, Minato Namikaze surveyed the distant chaos.

"That's… the prison?"

Minutes later, an Anbu agent arrived before him. "Lord Fourth, someone has infiltrated the high-security prison and released several prisoners. All guards have been killed."

Minato frowned. "Bring me the prisoner list immediately."

"Understood!"

The Anbu disappeared in a blur, returning moments later with the list.

Minato scanned it quickly, his gaze halting on a single name: Uchiha Setsuna.

"Not good."

Realizing the implications, Minato stood abruptly, his expression grave.

After a brief hesitation, he issued his orders. "Effective immediately, Konoha is under Level One Alert. All non-essential personnel are to remain in place."

"Also, summon the Jounin unit to assemble."

"Yes, Lord Fourth!"

The Anbu vanished to carry out his commands.

Alone, Minato pondered for a moment before murmuring, "This can't be allowed to escalate further."

Resolving himself, he teleported away using the Flying Thunder God Technique.

Baishi observed from a secluded spot as Minato's chakra signature flickered and vanished, presumably teleporting to handle the crisis.

He murmured to himself, "The storm is coming…"
