Naruto: Tenseigan Eye

Chapter 327: Chapter 327: If You Want to Change, Change It. If You Don’t Want to, Forget It.

The armistice had been signed, and Konoha's negotiations had secured a favorable outcome. However, in Sunagakure, the mood was far from celebratory. The village simmered with quiet resentment, especially among those who felt the Kazekage had mishandled the war.

Among them was a young boy with intense eyes fixed on the Kazekage's office. This boy was none other than Sasori of the Red Sand, a name that would one day be infamous across the ninja world. His small frame betrayed none of the deep anger that burned within him.

The war had taken Sasori's parents, who had died on a covert mission in the Land of Fire, killed by none other than Hatake Sakumo, the White Fang of Konoha. Sasori, in his grief and youth, redirected his rage toward the Third Kazekage, whom he blamed for orchestrating the war and sending his parents to their deaths.

The Return of the Bodies

Meanwhile, in Konoha, Shinki personally oversaw the transfer of the bodies of Sasori's parents to Sunagakure's envoy, represented by none other than Chiyo. The two bodies, carefully preserved by Konoha's medics, were returned intact as a gesture of goodwill during the peace negotiations.

Chiyo's hands trembled as she examined the bodies of her son and daughter-in-law. Her clouded eyes, now filled with tears, softened briefly with sorrow. But just as quickly, she steeled herself, her grief buried under years of experience.

"You can rest assured," Shinki said softly. "The bodies were handled with respect and are in the condition they were found."

"Thank you," Chiyo whispered, her voice quivering with emotion. But even as she expressed gratitude, her back straightened, and her resolve returned. She carefully sealed the bodies, her face betraying no further emotion.

Chiyo's Determination

"Now, when can we start discussing our deal?" Chiyo asked, her voice firm and businesslike.

Shinki blinked in surprise. She's quick to recover.

"You just received their bodies. Don't you need a moment to rest or reflect?"

Chiyo shook her head, a faint, proud smile on her lips. "I've lived long enough to understand life and death. They were my son and daughter-in-law, yes, but they were also ninjas of Sunagakure. Their sacrifice was for the village, and for that, I am proud. However," her tone darkened slightly, "I will not let go of my grudge against Hatake Sakumo. If I ever get the chance, I will kill him."

Shinki gave her a knowing look. "Good luck with that. Hatake Sakumo's strength is no secret, and it's only grown since the war. It's delusional to think you'd succeed under normal circumstances."

Chiyo nodded grimly, acknowledging the truth in Shinki's words. But her resolve didn't falter. Her grandson, Sasori, still represented hope for her village's future, even if she couldn't act on her grudge herself.

The Negotiation

"Since you're ready, let's discuss the deal now," Shinki said, steering the conversation back to practical matters.

Chiyo didn't hesitate. "One hundred of your puppets. In exchange, I'll hand over Sunagakure's puppet control techniques and puppet manufacturing technology."

Shinki raised an eyebrow and responded immediately. "Three. That's the maximum I'm willing to part with."

"Three?!" Chiyo's voice rose, her tone incredulous. "Do you know how many puppets you've developed? And you're only offering three?"

Shinki leaned back, unbothered by her reaction. "One hundred is ridiculous. Do you realize how valuable my puppets are? They're not made from corpse materials like yours. Every single one of them is crafted from specialized, high-grade materials. Three is generous."

Chiyo's expression darkened, but she quickly understood Shinki's resolve. He's not going to budge.

"Fine," she said after a moment. "Three, but they must be fully functional and delivered within an agreed timeframe."

A Subtle Jab

Shinki smirked slightly. "Oh, they'll be fully functional. But let me clarify—none of them are made from corpses. I know that's a common practice in your village, but my methods are more refined."

Chiyo's lips tightened into a thin line. She bristled at the veiled insult but refrained from reacting openly. If you're going to mock us, don't use our techniques at all, then.

A Bitter Yet Pragmatic Deal

Despite the tension, the deal was struck. Chiyo knew Sunagakure needed these puppets to study and improve their own techniques. Meanwhile, Shinki had no intention of underselling his creations or letting Sunagakure gain an upper hand.

The Bigger Picture

As the conversation ended, Chiyo left to finalize her side of the agreement. Shinki stayed behind, reflecting on the broader implications of their deal.

Sunagakure's current leadership is desperate and fractured, he thought. But what happens when new leaders like Sasori rise? Will the deals we make today hold any weight in the future?

For now, the immediate priority was securing Konoha's position and leveraging the deal for the village's long-term benefit. Whether Sunagakure honored the agreement years down the line was a concern for another day.
