Naruto: The Tale of an Otsutsuki

Chapter 73: Chapter 73: Exploration and Fighting

After Kirito and Tsunade left, Jiraiya quickly handed over Boruto and Sasuke to Naruto, claiming he had "important material to collect," leaving Naruto to manage the duo.

With Jiraiya gone, Boruto relaxed slightly, curiosity taking over. Turning to Naruto, he asked, "Who was that guy earlier? Kirito, was it? What kind of person is he?"

Naruto, scratching his head, replied, "Well… Kirito's strong and a pretty good guy. He's Grandma Tsunade's apprentice now, but someday, I'll surpass him for sure!"

Boruto squinted skeptically. "Good guy? Are you sure?" Recalling the ruthlessness of the Ōtsutsuki clan like Momoshiki, he couldn't shake the feeling that Kirito was putting on an act. "When did you meet him? How long has he been in Konoha?"

Naruto frowned at Boruto's persistence. "You've got the wrong idea. Kirito isn't a bad person," he said firmly. "I've known him since I was little. He even bought me a bowl of ramen once!" Naruto added, pointing to the Fourth Hokage's face carved into Hokage Rock. "He used to hang out up there a lot."

Sasuke, who had been silently observing, processed Naruto's words carefully. He now felt certain that this was indeed Konoha's past. The timeline matched his memories: by this point, Sasuke had already defected to Orochimaru. However, Kirito's presence was an anomaly—one that didn't fit into the history he knew.

Sasuke pondered deeply. If Kirito had been in Konoha during this period, why had he never encountered or even heard of him before? There was no sign of memory tampering, meaning this "past" might not align with his own. Additionally, Naruto's comments suggested that Kirito didn't seem aware of his Ōtsutsuki lineage, living instead as an ordinary shinobi.

If Kirito's presence was a disguise, Sasuke reasoned, then the implications were terrifying. What kind of secret would require an Ōtsutsuki to embed themselves in Konoha during this timeline? And with Urashiki Ōtsutsuki expected to arrive in a few days, the thought of two Ōtsutsuki potentially working together sent shivers down Sasuke's spine.

That night, Naruto eagerly invited Boruto to stay at his house, where they chatted casually. Sasuke, however, left on his own, intent on investigating Kirito further. His goal was clear: uncover Kirito's true purpose and eliminate any threat to Konoha before Urashiki's arrival.

Kirito, meanwhile, finished a long day of work at Konoha Hospital. As he walked home, he mused to himself, After dealing with Sasuke and Boruto, maybe I'll watch a movie with TenTen. I need a break.

Kirito had been studying Tsunade's Creation Rebirth Technique and had gained a deeper understanding of its principles: the continuous stimulation of cellular regeneration through chakra while maintaining precise control to avoid overproliferation. Although the technique held little personal use for Kirito, given his immortal state, he intended to master it to teach others in the future.

As he passed through a quiet street, Kirito activated his Byakugan to scan the village. He noticed Boruto at Naruto's house but quickly located Sasuke, who was standing on the balcony of Kirito's dormitory, apparently investigating something.

[Peeping and snooping? You two are relentless...] Kirito thought, amused. Deciding it was time for a direct conversation, he headed toward his dormitory.

Landing on the balcony, Kirito called out, "What's your business here?"

Sasuke, hand on the Kusanagi Sword, turned sharply to face him. "What's your purpose here, Ōtsutsuki Kirito?" he demanded coldly.

Kirito sighed, stepping into the room. "First, my name is Kirito, not Ōtsutsuki. Second, I'm here to enjoy life, nothing more."

The vague answer only deepened Sasuke's suspicion. "I don't know what your objective is, but for Konoha's sake, I can't leave you unchecked."

Sasuke's stance betrayed his intention to fight. Despite his exhaustion, his resolve was clear: uncover Kirito's power and motives, even at the risk of his own life.

"Can't we just talk?" Kirito muttered, exasperated. [Why does Sasuke always need to be beaten into submission before listening to reason?]

"Fine," Kirito conceded. "Let's go to the outskirts. If we fight here, we'll destroy half the village."

Sasuke, surprised by the consideration, agreed.

The moonlit training field was serene, its wooden stakes standing silently in the crisp night air. Kirito activated his Byakugan to confirm no one was nearby before turning to Sasuke.

"If I win," Kirito said, "you'll tell me your origin and purpose. If I lose, I'll answer whatever you want."

"Stop talking and fight!" Sasuke shouted, rushing forward.

Their clash began instantly. Sasuke's Kusanagi Sword met Kirito's Ice Blade with a sharp clang. Sasuke unleashed a Fireball Jutsu, but Kirito countered with Ice Style: Snow Gale, extinguishing the flames with a frigid blast.

Steam filled the air as Sasuke launched shurikens toward Kirito, controlling them with thin wires. Kirito deftly deflected them with his blade, severing the wires in one fluid motion.

Sasuke landed and activated his Mangekyō Sharingan, locking onto Kirito. "Amaterasu!" he cried, black flames erupting on Kirito's body.

Kirito countered with his unique ability, Divine Emperor Resonance, reflecting the Amaterasu flames back toward Sasuke. The black fire engulfed Sasuke, forcing him to cancel his attack as the searing pain overwhelmed him.

[This guy can even reflect Amaterasu?] Sasuke thought grimly, his body trembling as he suppressed the flames.

Kirito stood unfazed. "Still want to continue?"

Sasuke gritted his teeth. "This isn't over!" He bit his finger and summoned a massive snake. The snake, under Sasuke's Sharingan control, lunged at Kirito. Kirito responded with an Ice Spear, striking the snake mid-charge and freezing it solid.

Sasuke teleported behind Kirito using Amenotejikara, his sword aimed at Kirito's back. Kirito spun swiftly, deflecting the blade with his ice blade while delivering a powerful kick to Sasuke's midsection.

In a blur of movement, Kirito overwhelmed Sasuke, his attacks precise and unyielding. With Sasuke pinned beneath his blade, Kirito ended the battle.

"I win," Kirito said firmly.
