Naruto : The ultimate Troublemaker

Chapter 148: A Shinobi's Sacrifice

The wind blew gently over the desolate lands of Konoha, sweeping away dust and debris. At the center of this chaos, the lifeless body of Shikai lay, a figure frozen in the ultimate sacrifice. His death was not just a tragedy for Konoha but an event that resonated far beyond the village's borders. In every nation, in every heart, reactions varied, swinging between grief, rage, indifference, and, for some, a dark satisfaction.

In the mountains of Kumo, sunlight illuminated the imposing office of the Raikage. Seated on his chair, A listened to the reports with a satisfied smile.

"So, it's confirmed? Shikai is dead?" he asked in a loud voice.

The messenger nodded.

"Yes, Raikage-sama. He sacrificed himself to protect Konoha."

A rose abruptly, pounding his fist on the desk.

"Hah! That arrogant one has finally found his place: underground!"

Killer Bee, sitting in a corner, did not share his brother's enthusiasm. Although he had survived the extraction of Gyūki, he still felt the loss.

"Bro, calm down a bit," Bee said, his tone unusually serious. "Shikai may have been your rival, but he gave his life for his village. That's something."

The Raikage grumbled.

"He humiliated me in front of my men, Bee! I will never forget that defeat. But you're right about one thing: he made his choice. We move forward."

Bee placed a hand on his chest, closing his eyes.

"Even though Gyūki is gone, I can still sense his chakra. As if he were still here, somewhere. Maybe I can still use his chakra."

A stared at his brother for a moment, his expression hardening.

"It doesn't matter. What's important is that Kumo remains strong. And that we destroy Amegakure once and for all."

...

In Suna, news of Shikai's death had sparked diverse reactions. In the Kazekage's meeting room, Gaara fixed his gaze on the ground, lost in thought.

"Shikai..." he murmured. "He was an exceptional ninja. A man capable of sacrificing everything to protect his own."

Beside him, Kankurō nodded.

"I agree. That guy had guts. I still remember when he helped us against Akatsuki to track down Deidara and Sasori."

However, Temari crossed her arms, her expression skeptical.

"Brave? He was also a shameless pervert. Do you remember what he said to me during our first meeting?"

Kankurō raised an eyebrow.

"You mean when he called you the 'most beautiful kunoichi of Suna'?"

Temari grimaced.

For the others, they had first met during Gaara's rescue, but they had actually encountered each other during Oroshimaru's attack, where he had licked her neck like a sex-crazed man.

"That guy was a pervert!" Temari shouted, furious and too embarrassed to reveal the real reason.

Gaara raised a hand to calm his siblings. In Gaara's opinion, there might have been something between them, and knowing his sister's personality, she was putting on a tough front to grieve in private later.

"Whatever he was, his death is a loss for all of us. We must honor his sacrifice and continue to protect our villages. By completely destroying Akatsuki's base in Ame."

Temari sighed but did not respond, letting silence fall back into the room.

....

In the Mizukage's office in Kiri, Mei Terumi held a letter in her trembling hands. The words were simple, but their impact was devastating: "Shikai Nara (DarkRai) is dead."

Her eyes welled up as she leaned against her desk, trying to catch her breath.

"Mizukage-sama..." Ao murmured, standing near the door.

Mei lifted her eyes, her gaze shining with sadness and anger.

"You know what he meant to me, Ao," she said softly, her voice trembling with emotion.

Ao lowered his head.

"Yes, Mizukage-sama. But we must stay focused on..."

"Silence!" she exclaimed, her voice cutting. She clenched the letter in her hands, her nails almost tearing it.

She still remembered their encounter. Shikai had been sent to assassinate her, but instead, he had kidnapped her. Their relationship had evolved from hostility to an odd affection and, eventually, to something deeper.

"I cannot let this go," she murmured, straightening up, her determination blazing in her eyes.

She looked at Ao, her lips tightening into a hard line.

"Prepare the food rations. Send a message to the other Kages."

"Mizukage-sama?" Ao sounded uncertain, noticing the tattoos on each of the Mizukage's shoulders glowing dangerously.

"In a week, I'm heading to Ame," she declared. "I will avenge Shikai." The chakra of two bijuu made Ao nervous.

Across the shinobi world, Shikai's death marked a turning point. To some, he was an arrogant rival; to others, a hero and a friend or lover. But in every nation, he left an indelible mark, whether through his actions or the memories he left behind.

And as the world prepared for a new era of conflicts, one thing was certain: Shikai's sacrifice would never be forgotten.
