Naruto : The ultimate Troublemaker

Chapter 168: Never sacrifice his life for a woman who wouldn't do the same

Jura, a member of KuraYami, had been sent as an infiltrator within Akatsuki. There, he met Konan, a woman as mysterious as she was strong, loyal to Nagato and their ideals. Initially, their relationship was a pragmatic cooperation: they hunted bijūs and tracked targets with bounties to fund the organization's projects.

But over time, Jura learned that Konan shared a similar past with him. A war orphan, she had lost everything she loved and clung to Nagato and Yahiko as anchors in a cruel world. And she had experienced the loss of loved ones. This mutual understanding forged a bond between them, deeper than mere camaraderie.

However, Jura knew that Shikai, the leader of KuraYami, had planned to exterminate Akatsuki once their usefulness was exhausted, to gather all the bijūs. Having developed affection for Konan, he tried to invite her to join KuraYami.

"Konan, listen to me. KageYami wants to integrate you into our ranks. You could finally find stability."

"No, Jura. My loyalty lies with Nagato and our mission."

Her response was firm. Jura was distraught. He knew he was risking his life by protecting her.

When the Fourth Great Ninja War broke out, Akatsuki had long been dissolved, and Nagato was dead. Jura, unable to leave Konan alone in the chaos, decided to hide her. But this act of rebellion meant betraying Shikai, the one who had given him everything.

Jura knelt before Shikai, his heart pounding. The leader of KuraYami, seated on his obsidian throne, observed him with a cold and piercing gaze.

"So, Jura, explain yourself," Shikai asked, slightly narrowing his eyes.

"I... I would like your permission to spare her," Jura replied, avoiding his master's gaze.

Shikai raised an eyebrow.

"Hm? She's not dead then?"

"No, Kage. I couldn't kill her, even though it was your order..."

"Answer me clearly," Shikai struck the armrest of his throne violently. Jura shuddered.

"Do you... love her?" Shikai insisted, his tone sharp as a blade.

Jura hesitated before murmuring,

"I haven't confessed my feelings to her yet..."

A heavy silence settled, broken by Shikai's amused sigh.

"Hmm. You've risked your life for a woman you love. That's honorable."

Jura raised his eyes, full of hope.

"However," Shikai continued, "you will confess your feelings to her within the next few hours. After all, you've been close for years, haven't you?"

"Yes, Kage."

Shikai leaned forward, a cruel smile on his lips.

"If she loves you in return, I won't interfere. You can live your love. After all, who am I to prevent men from falling in love?"

"Thank you, Kage!" Jura exclaimed, relieved.

"I'm not finished," Shikai's voice turned icy. "If she refuses, she will become Orochimaru's new test subject, and I'll cut off your arm."

Jura paled.

"A man should never sacrifice his life for a woman who wouldn't do the same for him," Shikai declared, a mocking smile stretching his lips. "You're far too reckless, defying my order for a woman who might not even see you as a potential lover. That would be quite embarrassing, having such a stupid guy in my ranks. Don't you think?"

"Yes, clan leader."

Shikai nodded, mischievously.

"Then go join your beloved. But remember: don't force her hand. I respect free will, after all. He he."

Trembling, Jura left the room, his back drenched in cold sweat.

Once alone, Shikai observed the shifting shadows of the hall, an enigmatic smile playing on his lips.

"So, how long do you plan to hide, or should I come and find you?" he threw at the darkness.

A distinct, almost serpentine, laugh resonated.

"Kukuku... Shikai-kun, you haven't lost your sense of humor," Orochimaru replied, emerging from a small snake that had slithered into the room.

Orochimaru, in the appearance of Kimimaro, advanced slowly. Shikai fixed him with suspicion, trying to guess his intentions.

"What do you want, Orochimaru?" he asked in a sharp tone.

"Not much," Orochimaru replied with a smile. "I have my subjects for my experiments, I'm practically immortal, as you promised... But there's one thing..."

"What is it?"

Orochimaru licked his lips with an unhealthy smile.

"Can I inject a bit of your blood into my test subjects? Just to see what happens."

"No." Shikai's response was immediate and definitive.

A laugh escaped Orochimaru.

"Kukuku... at least I tried."

Shikai slightly straightened up, his gaze cold.

"Do you plan to betray me, Orochimaru?"

Orochimaru's face turned serious.

"With everything I have, the idea sometimes crosses my mind. But I know I wouldn't survive a day more. Honestly, I feel like someone who made a pact with the devil."

Shikai burst into laughter, his eyes sparkling with amusement.

"That's exactly it. But don't forget: one false move, and I reveal your true identity to Tsunade."

Orochimaru shuddered. He knew that if Tsunade learned his location, his immortality would be quickly reduced to nothing under her destructive fists.

"I'm watching you, Orochimaru. Be careful."

Orochimaru, though smiling, left the room, aware that he was playing a dangerous game with Shikai.

In the shadows, Shikai remained pensive.

"He won't do anything," he murmured, a predatory smile on his lips.

It was he who had created Shikai's supreme body and could already take his genes. But out of fear that he might not agree, he waited for him to wake up. In Shikai's opinion, Orochimaru clearly feared him and his immeasurable power.

[Name: Oroshimaru (Kimimaro's body)

Code Name: The Snake Hermit

Level: 100

Special Jutsu: Snake Sennin Mode, Enhanced Snake Summoning, Jutsu and Fūinjutsu, Shikotsumyaku (Manipulating His Bone Mass)
