Naruto: Tobirama Reborn, Invincible in the Ninja World

Chapter 64: Chapter 64: Obito Takes Action

After spending what felt like an eternity walking around Konoha with Tsunade, Tobirama finally found an excuse to slip away, feeling utterly drained. Shopping with women was exhausting, and it was even worse when the woman in question was his granddaughter.

He would have much rather been sparring with Obito right now.

At least the trip wasn't entirely pointless—Tobirama had officially appointed Tsunade as the head of Konoha's hospital, entrusting her with full responsibility for the village's medical institutions. As for her hemophobia, Tobirama had personally helped her overcome it.

Her fear of blood had stemmed from the trauma of watching her first love, Dan Katō, die before her eyes. Now that she had finally come to terms with her past, the phobia had naturally faded.

In about three days, Uchiha Itachi would undergo the injection of Hashirama's cells. Whether he lived or died after that would be entirely up to his fate.

Pushing aside these lingering thoughts, Tobirama decided he deserved a few days of proper rest. Ever since his resurrection, he hadn't stopped for even a moment. Immortality or not, even his soul felt weary from the relentless strain.

Land of Fields, Otogakure

"Orochimaru, your transplant… was it a success?"

Uchiha Obito's voice carried a note of surprise as he emerged silently into Orochimaru's laboratory through Kamui. His yellow spiral-patterned mask obscured his expression, but his tone betrayed his curiosity as he noted the tomoe spinning in Orochimaru's eyes.

Startled by the unexpected voice, Orochimaru nearly dropped the test tube he was holding. Catching himself, his eyes shifted, revealing the Mangekyō Sharingan. With a flick of his wrist, black Amaterasu flames coated his crystalline blade as he lunged forward, aiming to strike.

The space around Obito rippled, and the attack passed through him as though he weren't even there. Amaterasu and the crystalline weapon left behind a patch of destruction that looked like a fusion of death and decay—but none of it had any effect.

It was as if the man in the mask didn't exist in this plane of reality.

Orochimaru's eyes narrowed, unease flickering across his face. For someone who fancied himself a peer of Senju Hashirama and Uchiha Madara, this encounter had been a rude awakening. He couldn't gauge the depth of the masked man's abilities.

So, his intangibility must be linked to his Sharingan's power… Orochimaru mused, his gaze greedily fixed on the single Sharingan visible through the mask. Suddenly, Itachi's eyes no longer seemed as appealing.

A sly grin spread across Orochimaru's face. "Heh… Of course. I've perfectly integrated the power of Crystal Release with the Sharingan."

Though tempted to snatch Obito's eye for himself, Orochimaru didn't dare make a move. His opponent was an enigma, shrouded too deeply in secrecy.

Obito's visible eye narrowed in disdain. Disgusting snake. If only you weren't still useful…

After mentally discarding the idea of trapping Orochimaru in a genjutsu for eternity, Obito's voice turned cold.

"Don't forget our arrangement. It won't be long before I'll require your Impure World Reincarnation. I'll provide you with the corpses of powerful shinobi when the time comes."

"Of course, of course. I'm a man of my word," Orochimaru replied with a serpentine grin, his long tongue flicking out to lick his lips.

The sight made Obito's skin crawl beneath his mask. Without another word, he vanished into the swirling vortex of his Kamui dimension.

As the masked man disappeared, Orochimaru wiped a bead of sweat from his forehead.

So his Mangekyō Sharingan's ability is space-time ninjutsu? Not only does it let him phase through attacks, but he can create a vast dimension of his own… If there's no weakness to this ability, who in the shinobi world could possibly defeat him?

A Mountain Cave

Obito reappeared in a damp, shadowy cavern, muttering under his breath. "What a revolting snake."

"So, how did it go? Did Orochimaru integrate Itachi's eyes?" came the voice of Zetsu, half of his black-and-white body emerging from the ground.

"He did. Not only that, but he fused the Sharingan with Crystal Release. His current strength is likely on par with the Six Paths of Pain," Obito replied, his tone carrying a grudging note of respect.

"Impressive!" White Zetsu exclaimed, his enthusiasm almost childlike.

"That's not the point," Obito snapped. "The important thing now is to get Nagato moving. I have reason to believe Senju Tobirama may know about the Ten-Tails' existence."

"What? That's impossible!" Black Zetsu interjected, momentarily losing his composure.

"I'm not certain, but it would explain why he immediately went after Sunagakure's One-Tail upon his resurrection. Unless… he knows something," Obito said, his tone darkening.

Black Zetsu fell silent, his thoughts racing. He had spent millennia orchestrating events to revive his mother, Kaguya. If Tobirama posed a threat to that plan, he would need to be dealt with swiftly.

"We need to act. At the very least, we have to capture one of the tailed beasts. That way, even if Tobirama manages to collect the other eight, it won't matter. Besides, only someone with the Rinnegan can summon the Gedo Statue—he won't be able to merge the beasts."

Obito removed his mask, revealing his scarred and twisted face.

"We'll inform Nagato. The plan begins with targeting the Five-Tails in Iwagakure."

Amegakure

Nagato, controlling the Deva Path of Pain, carefully tended to Konan, who lay resting on a bed. Though the Sharingan's hold over her had been broken, she remained deeply scarred by the experience and needed time to recover.

"Konan, Zetsu informs me that Uchiha Madara is ready to proceed with the plan," Nagato said through the Deva Path.

"He's in a rush?" Konan asked, her voice soft as she wiped away traces of the medicine she'd just taken.

"Senju Tobirama's resurrection has made him nervous. Honestly, I'm concerned as well. The Second Hokage's capabilities are extraordinary. If we don't act soon, unexpected complications might arise," Nagato replied, frowning slightly.

"Nagato… is this truly necessary?" Konan's voice carried a note of hesitation.

"It is," Nagato said firmly. "I made a promise to Yahiko. I'll realize his dream of a peaceful world, one free from endless war. For that, I'll do whatever it takes."

Konan nodded silently, her trust in Nagato and Yahiko unwavering.

"Be cautious of Uchiha Madara. I have a bad feeling about him," she said quietly.

"I will. Rest well, Konan. I'll gather the others," Nagato said before the Deva Path disappeared into the rain-soaked streets.

Elsewhere in Amegakure

Deidara, Sasori, and Kakuzu had just returned from their mission and were discussing their encounter with Tobirama.

"Damn it! I can't believe we had to retreat so pathetically! Next time, I'll show him my ultimate art!" Deidara fumed.

He turned to Kakuzu with a mocking smirk.

"Hey, old man, didn't you say you fought the First Hokage once? How come you ran from his little brother?"

Kakuzu froze for a moment, his green eyes narrowing. After an awkward pause, he muttered,

"That was… a wood clone… of Hashirama."

Deidara burst into laughter, while Sasori simply muttered, "We left Hidan behind, didn't we?"

"Eh, he'll be fine. He can't die anyway. We'll pick him up later," Kakuzu replied indifferently.

Their banter was cut short as their Akatsuki rings began to pulse.

"Looks like the boss is calling us," Deidara said, his grin widening. "Told you he wouldn't die so easily."
