Chapter 25: Chapter 25
Kato Dan was undeniably a charismatic person, captivating not only due to his good looks but because of his warm personality. It was no wonder that Tsunade had fallen deeply in love with him and continued to cherish his memory years after his passing. In terms of character, Kato Dan was much as he appeared in the original scenes: kind-hearted yet independent, a man who was cheerful and at ease with everyone. Despite his friendly demeanor, he was unwavering in his commitment to tradition and detail.
This was evident in how he, alone among Konoha's elite jounin, had supported Tsunade's proposal to train medical ninjas, displaying a respect for her vision that few others shared. Although, Haruto suspected there was also an element of admiration for Tsunade herself that motivated Dan's choice.

The early morning light began to flood the world with warmth, rousing everything to life. Three days had passed since their previous mission in Iron Stone Town. While this mission was a standard C-level assignment, Haruto's earnings after splitting the pay with his captain and teammates amounted to a modest ten thousand yen. Such is the reality of Genin-level C-rank missions.
Thankfully, Haruto's funds were further bolstered by an additional two hundred fifty thousand yen from an earlier task, allowing him a decent reserve to support his cultivation efforts.

In a secluded training ground within the Uchiha clan, Haruto stood, practicing relentlessly. Dressed in light training attire and wielding a short wakizashi, he focused on honing his swordsmanship.
"Uchiha Style: Snapfire Flame Sword!"
"Uchiha Style: Moon Blossom Slash!"
"Uchiha Style: Jumping Flame Cut!"
Hours passed, and the sun climbed high into the sky, the heat adding to Haruto's sweat-soaked clothes. Eventually, he paused, breathing heavily.
"Executing the 'Moon Blossom Slash' technique really is challenging. Grandpa Retsu advised that to fully master it, I need to combine it with fire release and enhance it with wind release for maximum effect," Haruto muttered. "What I just attempted only scratches the surface. If I'm to harness the true power of this move, I'll need to elevate my Wind Release skills to a much higher level and integrate it seamlessly into my swordsmanship."
Settling under the shade of a tree, Haruto began carefully applying ointment to his arms, soothing his muscles, which were sore from the rigorous training. Reflecting on the practice, he noted the sophistication of the Uchiha-style swordsmanship system. Although rooted primarily in swordplay combined with fire techniques, the system had evolved over generations to incorporate various elemental jutsus, resulting in a well-rounded and powerful repertoire.
For example, his technique, "Moon Blossom Slash," called upon both wind and fire releases, allowing him to unleash wide, sweeping slashes imbued with wind and flame chakra. However, mastering this level of technique was still a distant goal for him. His current wind release abilities were underdeveloped, and his body's limitations as a young ninja restricted his physical strength.
Nevertheless, Haruto felt satisfied with his progress. Privately, he had sparred several times with the other members of Kato's squad and generally emerged victorious. His advantage was slight, but he knew it could grow with continued effort. Both Inuzuka Ryu and Aburame Nami had been recognized for their skills by the village, marking them as potential candidates for jounin. Their abilities were impressive, and it was probable they would attain high-ranking positions in the future.
While the power of the Sharingan undeniably contributed to Haruto's successes, he recognized that his dedication and innate talent played a significant role. He had long been regarded as one of the top students of his generation at the Ninja Academy, known for his prowess in physical combat and ninjutsu. While he might not yet match prodigies like Uchiha Itachi or Hatake Kakashi—ninjas who had graduated as chunin at an extraordinarily young age—Haruto's growth was exceptional by typical standards.
His mental faculties, too, had flourished since his journey across time. With a near-photographic memory, he could recall minute details with precision, an invaluable asset when using his Sharingan to memorize techniques. His comprehension had also deepened, allowing him to grasp complex ninjutsu and genjutsu concepts with ease. Just the day prior, he had showcased his mastery of two basic genjutsu techniques to Uchiha Retsu, impressing him with how swiftly he had learned them.
After a grueling training session, Haruto returned home, took a quick rest, and refreshed himself with a cold shower. Donning a fresh set of clothes more suited to mobility, he strapped his ninja pouch and wakizashi to his waist and headed for the Hokage Building.
Kato Dan had felt that while Haruto and the others performed admirably in Iron Stone Town, they hadn't achieved the assessment results he desired. Consequently, he was arranging another mission to provide them further training.
"Haruto, over here!" Inuzuka Ryu waved from a nearby corner, calling out to him.
Haruto approached his teammates. "Where's Teacher Dan? Isn't he here yet?"
"Right here," Kato Dan replied, appearing behind them as if from nowhere. "Today's mission will be another opportunity for you to experience real combat. This one also connects with your previous mission."
With a knowing smile, Kato Dan retrieved a mission scroll from his pouch. "It has come to light that Tobita Yuichi, a noble from Iron Stone Town, has been smuggling iron ore to enemy nations over the past year, profiting handsomely. The Sunagakure ninja attack four months ago is suspected to have been an attempt to cover up some evidence. By staging an attack, Yuichi could easily explain the missing iron ore as a casualty of war."
Kato Dan continued, "The daimyos of Kyoto and Konoha's senior officials have agreed that Yuichi must be apprehended."
Handing the mission scroll to Haruto, he explained further. "Since his last brush with bandits led by Okamoto Ichiro, Tobita Yuichi has taken precautions, hiring a large group of samurai to protect himself. They'll likely be more vigilant than mere bandits, so consider this a step up from your previous mission."
During the team's last mission in Iron Stone Town, while Haruto and his teammates gathered intelligence, Kato Dan had been carefully observing the situation. The upcoming mission would require their combined skills, and Haruto knew that it was another chance to put his hard-won training to the test.
