Naruto :Uchiha's Reincarnation

Chapter 26: Chapter 26

"Is this guy... really that terrified? Well, that's some good news." A slight smile appeared on Haruto's face.

Fear in his target meant that his spirit was beginning to break down. This was a promising advantage. An idea sparked in Haruto's mind.

"Magic Narakujū no Jutsu!"

Looking at Tobita Yuichi, who was now completely subdued by the illusion, a triumphant grin flashed across Haruto's face.

"Now, tell me where you hid your money."

Several minutes later, in the Lord's Mansion, all the samurai had been eliminated. Inuzuka and Aburame Nami chose not to chase down the remaining servants. Over recent years, many of these mansion servants had used Tobita Yuichi's influence to intimidate the townspeople. Those who truly were oppressive would find themselves facing the anger of the townsfolk, which would handle justice for them without Haruto and his team's involvement.

Inuzuka and Aburame Nami were wrapping up when Haruto returned, holding Tobita Yuichi's head in one hand and a sealed scroll in the other.

The mission guidelines suggested capturing Tobita Yuichi alive to gain information about enemy country ninjas collaborating with him. However, Haruto chose a different approach, wary of the potential for the village to discover Tobita Yuichi's stash and reclaim it. To avoid this, he eliminated him with a swift strike, deciding to let the Yamazaka clan in the Intelligence Department handle extracting the information. This way, the village could obtain accurate details without risking interference in Haruto's plans.

He smiled as he handed the scroll to Inuzuka. "Same split as last time."

With the spoils of this mission nearly equaling the profits of an A-rank mission, Haruto couldn't help but feel lucky. The payout was generous for what was officially a low-risk, C-level mission. He chuckled inwardly, grateful his assignments had so far been profitable.

"You've got it down, Haruto!" Inuzuka gave a proud thumbs-up.

Haruto nodded. "Alright, once we're set, let's meet up with Mr. Kato and return to the village to report."

With a quick wave, Haruto handed over the materials to Inuzuka and strolled back to rest, recalling that he'd stayed up late studying a new genjutsu.

---

Three months later, winter arrived as the vibrant leaves of autumn gave way to the barren landscapes of the Fire Country's northern wilderness.

"Whoosh!" The sharp whistle of three shurikens slicing through the air reached the ears of a Lang ninja in black, who deftly dodged. Despite being prepared, he wasn't fast enough to dodge Haruto's follow-up—a blade wrapped in flames, driving toward him. Though he managed to evade the strike, Haruto's Sharingan detected his vulnerability, and with a swift kick, Haruto sent the ninja sprawling.

"Not so fast," Haruto muttered, forming a seal as the Lang ninja, in desperation, threw his blade at him in a bid to interrupt his jutsu.

"Genjutsu: Shiranui!" In a heartbeat, Haruto's illusion took hold, the Lang ninja frozen in agonizing pain.

Thanks to his Sharingan, Haruto could cast simple genjutsu without needing full seals, a valuable edge in this skirmish. Against a strong opponent, this wouldn't work, but it was enough to create an opening here. And a single opening was all he needed.

"Time to say goodbye," he intoned, forming the half-seal of the Horse with his right hand.

"Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu!"

A massive fireball rocketed toward the helpless ninja, consuming him entirely. Though Haruto once might have searched the body for valuables, a prior encounter had taught them to be cautious. During a mission a month ago, Inuzuka had nearly been killed by a rigged corpse. Since then, Kato's team resolved not to examine fallen enemies unless safety was assured.

"Haruto! How'd it go?" Inuzuka and Aburame Nami approached, their own missions completed.

Haruto pointed to the scorched remains nearby. "Over there."

"Looks like our tally just hit twenty C-rank missions. Wonder when we'll start getting assigned to higher levels," Inuzuka remarked, his gaze drifting to the northern sky.

"We'll have our chance soon enough," Haruto replied while retrieving his shuriken from the ground.

Over this period, the team had completed twenty C-level tasks and a host of D-level missions, their tally now reaching over one hundred and thirteen.
