Chapter 4: Chapter :4
Hanzo's strength rivals that of the previous five Kage. Excluding the First Hokage, the legendary God of Shinobi, Hanzo stands among the strongest figures in the ninja world, capable of going toe-to-toe with the greatest of the past Kage.
"Don't worry, old man!" Jiraiya exclaimed confidently, patting his chest. "The war will definitely end in our favor!"
At this time, Uchiha Haruto had no idea that he would soon be graduating from the Ninja Academy earlier than expected.
Not that it mattered if he knew. He was just a regular student in the academy. Sure, he had decent grades, the blood of the Uchiha clan, and had awakened the Sharingan, but that was not enough to influence the decisions made by the higher-ups in the village.
At the moment, Haruto was focused on training with the ninjutsu scrolls left behind by his parents. The Uchiha clan's famed shuriken techniques required both exceptional vision and dexterous fingers. The former was easily covered by the Sharingan, but the latter required rigorous practice.
Thankfully, Haruto's body was talented, and the Uchiha clan, in general, seemed to possess an inherent skill in shuriken techniques. In just a few days, he had mastered several advanced maneuvers, spinning and throwing shurikens with precision.
With that progress, Haruto shifted his attention to the ninjutsu and Uchiha swordsmanship his parents left behind. Unfortunately, he lacked a proper ninja sword, so he put the sword training on hold for the time being.
Even with only a single tomoe in his Sharingan, Haruto found learning C-rank ninjutsu to be relatively easy. However, without anyone to demonstrate the techniques for him to copy, he wasn't sure how effective his Sharingan's copying abilities were. He was left with no choice but to learn through trial and error.
In the original series, Uchiha Itachi learned the Great Fireball Jutsu after seeing it demonstrated by his father, Uchiha Fugaku. Uchiha Sasuke, though not quite as prodigious, managed to blow out small flames after seeing it and successfully mastered the jutsu after just one afternoon of intense practice.
Haruto wasn't sure how his talent compared to theirs. Itachi was a genius of unparalleled skill, but Sasuke also graduated at the top of his class. Both had exceptionally high qualifications.
With no teacher to guide him, Haruto could only practice the Great Fireball Jutsu on his own, trying morning and night whenever he didn't have classes. After a few days of relentless practice, he finally succeeded in unleashing the technique.
"So this is… the power of ninjutsu," Haruto murmured in awe, staring at the scorched pit left behind by his fireball. The intense heat had turned the sand at the bottom of the pit into crystallized glass.
Checking his wristwatch, Haruto realized it was time to head to the academy. His watch wasn't just any ordinary timepiece—it was the reincarnation watch he had brought with him from the Reincarnation Space. Although the Reincarnation Space no longer existed, and Haruto had yet to figure out the full purpose of the watch, at least it functioned as a normal timekeeper.
In the current ninja world, watches were rare but not unheard of, so wearing one didn't draw any suspicion.
After grabbing his lunchbox and making his way to the academy, Haruto noticed that something felt off. The atmosphere in the school was unusually tense. His homeroom teacher, Furukawa, along with the other Chunin instructors, wore serious expressions.
Could it be that a high-ranking official was coming to inspect the academy today? Was it the Hokage? Or perhaps another important figure from the village?
When all of the students had gathered in the classroom, Kurono Ohfune made his way to the podium. Haruto immediately noticed that the teacher wasn't carrying his usual textbooks.
"Ahem. Class, we won't be having lessons today," Furukawa announced.
The students were on the verge of cheering, but Furukawa quickly motioned for silence, pressing his hands down to calm the room.
"That's because we've received an important order from the Hokage's office. Starting today, all fourth and fifth-year students will undergo early graduation exams."
The classroom erupted into chaos at this announcement. No matter what Furukawa said next, it was impossible to stop the students from chattering excitedly.
Teenagers often harbor grand dreams, and these students were no different. Many of them hadn't yet experienced the harsh realities of life as a ninja and were filled with idealistic visions of the future.
It reminded Haruto of how some teenagers in his old world would obsess over whether to attend prestigious universities.
"Early graduation?" Haruto thought to himself, observing the excitement in the room. "Last year, only students who were about to enter the final year graduated early. Now they're having two entire grades graduate early… It seems Konoha is facing intense pressure on the front lines and urgently needs more soldiers, even if they're just cannon fodder."
Inuzuka Tsume, sitting nearby, was buzzing with excitement, wondering what the graduation exam topic would be this year.
Meanwhile, Tetsuo, one of Haruto's classmates, boldly stood on his desk with one foot, loudly declaring that graduating as a Genin was merely the first step on his path to becoming the next Hokage.
Some students, however, were more worried. Several were unsure if they could pass the exams.
Haruto, on the other hand, calmly observed the room. His class was a key class, filled with students from ninja clans or those with strong talents. He figured most of them would be able to graduate without much issue.
Once the students' excitement finally died down, Furukawa pulled a document from his pocket and continued with his explanation.
"Since we're graduating earlier than usual, the test this year will be a little different from previous years," he explained. "There will be no written test. The exams will be focused on actual combat. There are two test questions. The first will be a demonstration of one of the three basic body techniques—Substitution, Transformation, or Clone—before the examiners."
Furukawa paused as the students murmured, then continued, "The second test is the key component of the graduation assessment and will largely determine your future class placement. You'll be matched up with a Genin who graduated last year and engage in combat with them. Your score will be based on your performance during the battle."
The room buzzed with energy once more, but this time, Furukawa didn't attempt to stop the excited students.
"Two test questions, huh?" Haruto mused quietly to himself.
The first test was standard, much like previous years. Haruto figured that most students who passed the first part of the exam would successfully graduate and become Genin. The second test, however, was clearly designed for differentiation.
It was similar to exams in the real world, where teachers would set basic questions to ensure that most students could pass but include a few challenging ones to identify the top-performing students.
In this case, the second test required students to fight a Genin who had already been training under a Jonin or Chunin for a year. These Genin were physically more developed and had more practical combat experience than the current academy students. Defeating them would be no easy task.
For Haruto, it was clear—the second test wasn't just about passing. It was about determining who had the potential to rise above the rest.
