Naruto :Uchiha's Reincarnation

Chapter 5: Chapter :5

Very few academy students can defeat a Genin who has been training for a year after graduation. Those who do are generally considered geniuses in the conventional sense. This graduation test is designed to separate those with merely average skills from those with true potential.

The former group may not be assigned to any powerful Jonin as mentors and might end up being used as cannon fodder on the battlefield. The latter, however, are likely to receive better resources, guidance, and protection.

"Now, let's begin the lot drawing. Students who are called should go to the playground for their tests," Furukawa announced, pulling out a box from beneath the desk and placing it on the podium.

One by one, students went up to draw their numbers.

When Uchiha Haruto finished drawing, he opened his paper and took a look.

[Transformation Technique No. 27]

"Haruto, what did you get?" asked Inuzuka Tsume, eyeing him with curiosity as he returned from the stage.

"Transformation Technique."

"I got Clone Technique," Tsume said with a hint of disappointment. "Too bad I haven't learned the beast clone technique yet. If he and I had mastered it, we'd easily get high scores on this question."

The Beast Clone technique, used by the Inuzuka clan, allows ninja dogs to transform into a clone of their master. This clone is not only adept at using the clan's special jutsu but also more durable than typical clones. Additionally, the transformation is so seamless that even advanced sensory techniques have difficulty identifying the real user from the clone.

"It's okay," Haruto replied, trying to reassure her. "The first question doesn't really matter much. Whether you get a high score will depend mostly on how well you perform in the second part of the test, which is meant to show your combat ability. Your regular clone technique isn't bad either."

Tsume stroked the dog head and muttered, "I just hope I don't get paired with a Genin who's too strong."

Haruto, however, didn't share the same concerns. Over the course of his time at the academy, he had come to realize how strong he actually was. Among his peers, no one had yet shown the ability to perform C-rank ninjutsu like he had, and with the Sharingan in his arsenal, he had a significant advantage in battle.

Not many could awaken the Sharingan before turning ten, and on top of that, Haruto had inherited the excellent qualities of his original body. He was one of the top students in his class, making him a strong contender for becoming the class chief.

And it was practically unheard of for the class chief to not be assigned a Jonin as a mentor.

As Haruto mused, tetsuo returned from his test, having been in the first group called to the field.

"How did it go, tetsuo?" Tsume asked quietly.

"Don't worry," tetsuo said, grinning sheepishly. "The examiner was pretty nice. He even complimented my substitution technique!"

"What about the second part? Was the Genin you faced strong?" Tsume pressed.

Tetsuo scratched his head. "I was unlucky. My opponent had the Byakugan. I managed to hold out for a few minutes before he knocked me down with the Gentle Fist."

Tsume smiled, trying to console him. "It's okay! Lasting a few minutes against a Genin with Byakugan is pretty impressive!"

Tetsuo brightened at the praise. "Yeah, just a minor setback! Once I become a Genin, I'll train harder. Soon, I'll be a war hero, and after that, I'll become Hokage!"

Haruto couldn't help but smile. It seemed tetsuo had been heavily influenced by the Will of Fire philosophy espoused by Sarutobi Hiruzen. Still, holding out for a few minutes against a Genin with the Byakugan wasn't a bad result at all.

Soon, it was Tsume's turn to take the test. Her number was nineteen, placing her in the second batch of students. Being from a ninja clan, her skills were well-rounded, and Haruto was confident she would do well, especially since she hadn't been matched against a particularly tough opponent.

After Tsume finished her test, it was finally Haruto's group's turn. Ten students, including Haruto, headed to the examination room.

On the high platform overlooking the playground sat a handsome man with long, light blue hair—Kato Dan, the chief examiner for the graduation assessment. Surrounding him were several other examiners, as well as the ten Genin assigned to fight the students.

Nearby, another group of Genin waited to take their turn as opponents for later batches. For these Genin, the task of fighting the academy students was considered a D-rank mission, much easier than catching stray animals or cleaning the village river.

Kato Dan stood and addressed the group. "Everyone, I am Kato Dan, the chief examiner for your graduation test. Your first task is the Transformation Technique. I want you all to transform into a copy of me."

With a smile, Kato Dan gestured for the students to begin.

As soon as he finished speaking, puffs of white smoke filled the air, and ten Kato Dans appeared in the field. Some of the students, however, hadn't gotten the transformation quite right. One had the wrong clothes, and another had forgotten to change his hair color to match Kato Dan's light blue.

The Transformation Technique doesn't just test a ninja's ability to perform the jutsu itself; it also requires sharp observation and imitation skills. A ninja must be able to replicate everything from a person's appearance to their movements, expressions, and even voice.

Haruto, of course, didn't face the same challenges as the others. His transformation was perfect, right down to the faint smile that Kato Dan wore.

"Examiner Kato, can we move on to the next question?" Haruto asked, stepping forward. His voice and expression were an exact match to Kato Dan's.

Kato Dan's smile widened in approval. "Uchiha Haruto? Excellent work. You may cancel your transformation and begin the next part of the exam."

With a puff of smoke, all the Kato Dans reverted to their original forms. Ten Genin then stepped forward to face the students, standing opposite them at a distance so that their battles wouldn't interfere with one another.

Kato Dan whispered to the other examiners, "Watch carefully and take notes. I'll observe Uchiha Haruto's match myself."

Then, Kato Dan descended from the platform and stood near Haruto and his opponent.

The Genin standing opposite Haruto was a young man with medium-length hair and a moon symbol on his clothes.

"Gekkō Harate," the Genin said, giving a brief introduction before extending his hand to make the sign of opposition.

"Uchiha Haruto," Haruto replied, returning the gesture.

"Begin," Kato Dan called, raising his arm and then swiftly lowering it to signal the start of the fight.

Without hesitation, Haruto reached into his ninja tool pouch, pulled out a shuriken, and hurled it toward Gekkō Harate.

The real test had begun.
