Chapter 188: The Night of the Nine-Tails, Obito Arrives!
After leaving the memorial stone, Haneda and Kakashi headed to the Ichiraku Ramen shop. They ordered two bowls of pork bone char siu ramen and found seats next to each other.
"When Naruto is born, will you still be with the Police Force? Or will you join Asuma and the others on missions?" Kakashi asked.
"No, I plan to make a trip to the Land of Water…" Haneda replied, shaking his head as he recalled his earlier plans. He continued, "Ryūchi Cave is over there, and I'm going there to train in Sage Mode."
"After that, I'll probably be away from the village for quite a while."
"Sage Mode?" Kakashi remembered Minato's Sage Mode and smiled. "Why not just ask Minato-sensei? Jiraiya-sama also trained in the Sage Mode from Mount Myoboku."
After considering it, he added, "If you're really hesitant, I could introduce you."
Haneda shook his head. "I have other things to do in the Land of Water. There's plenty over there that suits my dōjutsu."
"Shikotsumyaku and Ice Release both interest me."
Using his All-Seeing Eye, Haneda had nearly fused with Hashirama's cells, and now he had his sights on another of Kaguya's legacies—Shikotsumyaku. Both the Sage's body and Shikotsumyaku came from Kaguya after she consumed the chakra fruit. Haneda aimed to use his All-Seeing Eye to try and integrate the Shikotsumyaku.
As for Ice Release, it related to another of Haneda's plans—Bloodline Networking. At the Six Paths level, mastery of the Truth-Seeking Balls required the fusion of Yin-Yang and the five chakra natures. Step by step, Haneda aimed to master different elemental chakra combinations, creating various kekkei genkai, then further study Bloodline Selection, and eventually, full mastery of Yin-Yang and the five elements, achieving the Six Paths power.
For that, he needed many kekkei genkai and intended to journey around the shinobi world, bringing back skilled people. In the Land of Water, Haku and Kimimaro were his main targets.
"Are you giving up on the Flying Thunder God technique?" Kakashi asked.
Haneda was silent for a moment. "It's difficult without a natural talent for it. Better to give it up and pursue another path. I already have a clear plan."
Just then, Teuchi brought over two bowls of pork bone char siu ramen, placing them in front of Haneda and Kakashi. They exchanged a glance and said, "Let's dig in."

Thanks to Haneda's leverage over Danzo and Root, the upper ranks of Konoha were aware that the night of Naruto's birth might see an attack from shinobi of other villages.
One month later, on the night before Naruto's birth, Kushina was settled in a secluded cabin in Konoha. Hiruzen's wife, Biwako, personally took charge of the delivery.
Around the cabin, numerous teams of Anbu were stationed, along with at least a hundred elite Uchiha in hiding. In the village center, shinobi under Tsunade's command maintained a watch, while members of the Hyuga clan with Byakugan kept constant surveillance around the village.
Meanwhile, Jiraiya and Hiruzen were with Minato. With the Flying Thunder God, they could reach any part of the village instantly, and any entry point Obito chose would meet with severe counterattack. Konoha's defenses were at an all-time high, leaving no chance for the destruction seen in the original story.
The wind blew gently, sweeping through the trees. Haneda leaned on a tree trunk, eyes closed as he focused on sensing his surroundings. Fugaku approached and asked, "Is Itachi safe, Haneda?"
Haneda opened his eyes. "Yes, he's with Yamato in the basement of my house. It's completely secure."
Haneda believed that when Obito attacked, he'd avoid the Uchiha clan grounds out of respect for both himself and his grandmother.
Hearing Haneda's confident tone, Fugaku's worries eased, and he looked over at the elders. "Is everything in place?"
"The Sealing and Police Forces are ready," one elder replied confidently. "As soon as the Nine-Tails appears, we'll restrain it."
Confident in the clan's strength, Fugaku nodded. He knew Haneda was serious about this.

Elsewhere in Konoha, Kakashi visited the memorial stone alone, stopping before Obito and Rin's graves. He murmured softly, "Sensei's child is about to be born." He looked up at the moon, and the full moonlight on his face reminded him of that fateful night on Kikyo Mountain.
"Haneda said that tonight, enemies from other villages might try to release the Nine-Tails… I'll stop them."
Kakashi placed his flowers down, but suddenly, a swirling vortex appeared behind him, and an arm swiftly struck the back of his neck, knocking him out.
"Flying Thunder God?" Kakashi gasped, looking up at the masked figure holding chains in his hand. The figure was Obito.
Obito watched Kakashi's unconscious form in silence. As he prepared to leave, Black Zetsu, merged with White Zetsu, emerged from the ground and asked sinisterly, "You're still hesitant?"
"Better he lives in pain than dies," Obito replied, glancing back coldly at Black Zetsu. "And remember, this is the last time. He'll witness the arrival of the new world alongside Haneda."
With a twisted grin, Black Zetsu glanced subtly at Kakashi's left eye.
If Kakashi hadn't been here so frequently, letting down his guard while grieving, even with his speed and strength, Obito might not have succeeded so easily.
Obito adjusted his mask, saying, "Is Nagato prepared?"
"Notified, but Nagato and Konan aren't coming. They don't want to face Haneda or Jiraiya, so they'll be on standby afterward."
"What about Sasori and Kakuzu?" he asked.
"They're ready, but Konoha is highly alert, with ninjas hidden everywhere."
Unfazed, Obito chuckled. His dōjutsu, Kamui, was the most powerful space-time jutsu; no number of guards could stop him.
"Then let's leave the Nine-Tails for them." He said, "Inform everyone. Begin the plan!"
