Chapter 189: The Valley of the End, A Brief Clash
*Outside the Village of Konoha*
Haneda suddenly sensed something and looked to the east, jumping down from a tree.
Seeing this, Fugaku quickly asked, "Haneda, have the enemies arrived?"
"They have. They're at the eastern side of the Hokage Building."
By being familiar with the chakra signatures of Sage Mode and Obito, Haneda was able to locate where Obito was. His friend was moving toward the building where Kushina was.
Haneda had informed Fugaku about two other large chakra signatures as well. Unless he was mistaken, they were Sasori and Kakuzu. He was familiar enough with their chakra to recognize them.
*In the forest outside Konoha, a flash of lightning flickered between the trees.*
Obito glanced in Haneda's direction and then began moving to a specific location. The two moved, one chasing, the other evading, for five or six minutes until they arrived at a waterfall.
This was the Valley of the End, where Hashirama and Madara once fought.
The lightning and the shadow stopped at opposite ends of the valley.
Haneda, looking at Obito standing atop Madara's statue, spoke softly, "Stop running; I know it's you."
Obito didn't respond, but he adjusted his mask and prepared his battle chains.
"Obito, how long do you plan to keep hiding from me?"
Haneda's Sharingan eyes locked with Obito's from across the distance.
When Haneda spoke his true name, Obito hesitated for a moment.
Haneda continued, "Your chakra can't fool me. Your missing left eye—you gave it to Kakashi as a gift."
Obito laughed coldly and replied, "So what? What's the point of any of this now?"
"Names are just labels. I am Uchiha Madara."
Haneda clenched his fists and tried to reason with him again, "I know the truth about Rin's death."
"It was a conspiracy—targeted at you, and at me."
"At the same time that Rin and Kakashi were attacked by the Hidden Mist, Minato-sensei was held back, and I was intercepted when I tried to help."
"You must have looked into this."
Obito laughed cynically for a long time, then said mockingly, "So what?"
"What does knowing the truth change?"
Obito spread his arms, looking up at the familiar moon. Everything turned blood-red in his eyes, as he remembered the night on Kikyō Pass.
"This world won't change because of that. It will always be hell."
Haneda frowned. Obito's transformation seemed to stem from more than just Rin—it felt like something even deeper.
He tried to reason with him again, but Obito moved first.
"If you're going to stop me, then be ready to kill me!"
As soon as he said this, a massive fireball rushed toward Haneda. He had to shift his focus to the battle, drawing his blade and slicing the fireball in half with a wind blade.
Haneda stood in place, watching as Obito crossed the river, moving closer.
Obito, who had planned to use Kamui to evade any attacks, hesitated when he came face to face with Haneda. Instead of an attack, he threw a punch toward Haneda's chest.
Haneda simply took a half-step back, looking Obito directly in the eyes.
"Why didn't you dodge?"
"Because we're friends."
"You…"
Obito's gaze faltered before he disappeared in a vortex, reappearing atop a tree behind Haneda.
"It doesn't matter if you see me as an enemy or a friend."
"I am still Uchiha Madara."
Obito smirked and continued, "We're more than ten kilometers away from Konoha. Even with your speed, Uchiha Haneda, it would take you at least five minutes to get back."
"With that foolish trust of yours, you'll never be able to stop me."
"Next time, remember to treat me as an enemy."
Seeing Haneda's disappointed expression, Obito lowered his gaze and muttered to himself, "No… there won't be a next time…"
He vanished in a vortex, having purposely drawn Haneda to the Valley of the End—far from Konoha.
That would buy him enough time to carry out his plan.
He intended to kill Kushina and prevent any potential threats to the Moon's Eye Plan.
When Obito returned to Konoha, he saw Sasori and Kakuzu being pursued by Jiraiya, Tsunade, and others, and he hesitated.
Suddenly, Obito chuckled.
He realized Haneda had likely predicted his arrival and had set up an almost flawless defense.
But there was one thing Haneda overlooked.
The Nine-Tails was bound by a summoning contract.
Obito silently calculated the time, sensing the fluctuations in the Nine-Tails' chakra. When Kushina went into labor, her seal would weaken.
That would be the moment to use his summoning jutsu.
The battle was about to change.
*Tick... tick...*
In the delivery room, a clock ticked slowly.
The cry of a newborn shattered the quiet of Konoha's outskirts.
Suddenly, the chakra of the Nine-Tails inside Kushina grew restless and began to leak out.
She tried to reinforce the seal with her Adamantine Chains, but the Nine-Tails wasn't trying to take over—it was responding to the summoning jutsu.
At that moment, Fugaku led a team of Uchiha forming a sealing squad and a police unit surrounding the delivery room.
"Move out!"
At Fugaku's command, the sealing squad quickly established a barrier—Contract Seal.
This was a technique capable of severing the link between the enemy and a summoned beast.
In the original story, Minato had used this very seal to sever Obito's connection with the Nine-Tails.
At the village center, Obito's brow furrowed. He could sense that his connection with the Nine-Tails had been blocked.
"What's going on?"
A White Zetsu clone emerged from the ground and reported, "Uchiha Fugaku led the sealing squad and used a Contract Seal to sever the link with the Nine-Tails."
Hearing about the Contract Seal, Obito showed an expression of disbelief.
How did Uchiha Fugaku know about his link with the Nine-Tails?
The news of Madara's death had already spread in Konoha. Even if Madara had left some information, Konoha couldn't have known about Obito's true plans.
At that moment, a figure appeared in front of Obito.
Uchiha Haneda!
"Had it all arranged from the start, didn't you?"
"Impressive..."
Obito murmured to himself.
Just as he was about to issue the retreat order, he felt the chaotic chakra of the Nine-Tails erupting outside Konoha.
The Nine-Tails was about to go on a rampage.
In the delivery room, a black substance enveloped Kushina's body. She held Naruto, her right hand trembling as it hovered just a few centimeters from his neck.
The one controlling Kushina was Black Zetsu, and it was struggling with her for control.
But Black Zetsu was clearly winning.
"Don't struggle, or your husband and child will die," Black Zetsu sneered at Minato.
