Chapter 88: Chapter 88: Toad's Trouble
"Boom! Boom!"
A massive tangle of hair continued to grow, each strand becoming as hard as steel, unbreakable, enveloping Jiraiya completely.
Even the dense, rock-tearing, steel-piercing wind bullets couldn't breach this defense, leaving Jiraiya unscathed.
"Now that's more like it! Otherwise, this would be too boring."
Kiyoshi nodded approvingly but, before Jiraiya could respond, his tone turned icy. "However, as impressive as that move is, it's most vulnerable to fire, isn't it?"
A series of trumpet-like flowers sprouted around him, flames gathering at each one. The intense heat seemed to distort the air.
"No way I'll let you succeed." Jiraiya, who had foreseen this, wasn't one to go down easily.
"Don't underestimate me, kid… I am Jiraiya, the Toad Sage." Without anyone noticing, Jiraiya had already completed a sequence of hand signs, slamming his hands to the ground.
"Summoning Jutsu."
"Boom! Boom!"
A vast array of symbols spread outward, thick smoke obscuring the view. Trees nearby were crushed under the weight of an enormous figure, even interrupting Kiyoshi's technique.
"Well, well, Jiraiya's called out Gamabunta." Tsunade, observing from a distance, chuckled lightly.
"Is this Jiraiya-sama summoning beast?" Karin blinked with curiosity.
"Though, Wood Release is particularly effective against such large summons," Shizune said with a smile as she hugged Tonton.
Judging by Kiyoshi's prowess with Wood Release, he might even rival the First Hokage. Gamabunta wouldn't be able to last for long.
"Can't you tell, Shizune?" Tsunade smirked.
"Kiyoshi's clearly holding back. Since Jiraiya's not a real enemy, he's not going for the kill.
He's just pushing Jiraiya to his limit before completely overwhelming him, crushing him both physically and mentally."
"If it weren't for Kiyoshi holding back, do you think Jiraiya would have lasted this long without knowing a thing about Kiyoshi's abilities?"
Shizune and Karin exchanged glances. Given what they knew about Kiyoshi… that actually seemed likely.
"Jiraiya, what's going on?"
In the ruined forest, the smoke cleared, revealing a massive toad with a pipe in its mouth. It looked down at Jiraiya with irritation. "Calling me to a place like this?"
But at that moment, thick vines began growing wildly, wrapping toward the massive Gamabunta.
"Is this… Wood Release?" Gamabunta was stunned. The only shinobi capable of wielding Wood Release was the First Hokage, right?
"No time to explain." Seeing Kiyoshi directing the vines, Jiraiya shouted, "Bunta, back up! Get us out of this forest."
Though Gamabunta often grumbled, he trusted Jiraiya implicitly and acted without hesitation. His powerful hind legs compressed before he leapt into the air.
"Whoosh!"
A fierce gust erupted as the massive body of Gamabunta shot back. Some vines clinging to him snapped from the force.
"Boom!"
The ground shook, smoke and dust filling the air. Gamabunta landed over a hundred meters away, clearing the edge of the forest.
"Jiraiya, what's going on?" Gazing back at the dense forest, Gamabunta asked, puzzled, "Wood Release… isn't that Hashirama's exclusive technique?"
"That kid's Tsunade's student, and supposedly a Senju descendant. He has awakened the First Hokage's Wood Release."
Jiraiya explained, exhaling in relief as he surveyed the open space around them. "At least we've left that dangerous area."
"What? Tsunade's student?" Gamabunta eyed Kiyoshi in the distance, his youthful appearance seeming almost unbelievable. "You're telling me some random kid drove you to this state?"
"Ugh."
Jiraiya wiped his brow, taking a deep breath before speaking solemnly.
"Don't underestimate him. His chakra reserves are insane, and his control over Wood Release is also too good. Most of his jutsus don't even require hand signs."
Without giving Gamabunta time to fully process this, Jiraiya focused on the forest ahead and shouted, "Enough talk! Bunta, oil."
"Let's burn it all."
"Got it." Gamabunta took a deep breath and spewed out a torrent of oil like a massive water column.
At the same time, Jiraiya completed his hand signs, unleashing a fierce fire jutsu.
"Fire Style: Toad Flame Bomb."
The oil ignited instantly, exploding into a blazing inferno that twisted the air with intense heat. The fire surged forward, threatening to consume the entire forest.
"Water Style: Water Dragon Jutsu."
In that instant, Kiyoshi directed the flowers scattered throughout the forest to reorient toward Gamabunta's direction.
Massive water dragons roared one after another, shooting towards the blazing fire.
"Boom! Boom!"
The clash of fire and water erupted in a blinding explosion, sending out a powerful shockwave and filling the air with steam. Heatwaves rolled through the area.
"What?" Gamabunta's eyes widened, shocked that their seemingly unstoppable combination attack had been so easily countered.
"Blocked?" Jiraiya's expression turned grim.
"Jiraiya, did you think a single giant toad would easily escape the forest?"
Towering tree vines lifted Kiyoshi above the canopy, moving him to the forest's edge. He faced Jiraiya from a distance with a calm expression, arms crossed and a slight smile.
"Some flashy moves require a spacious arena and an impressive opponent to truly shine."
"Don't look down on me, brat."
Usually hot-tempered and rarely respectful, even toward Jiraiya, Gamabunta was enraged by Kiyoshi's arrogance.
He sprang up, performing hand signs with his claws, and spat out a powerful projectile.
"Water Style: Liquid Bullets."
"Whish—"
The air whistled as a massive water sphere hurtled toward Kiyoshi with crushing force.
"Then, how about this?"
Unfazed, Kiyoshi summoned a dense growth of vines.
Trumpet flowers bloomed, and in the shocked, disbelieving gaze of Jiraiya and Gamabunta, vibrant light gathered at each flower, surging forward.
"Five Style Massive Combo Jutsu."
"Boom! Boom!"
