Chapter 90: Chapter 90: Too Cool
"You misunderstand—I only 'draw inspiration' from an artistic perspective."
Upon hearing this, Jiraiya's face flushed red as he denied everything, unwilling to admit the truth.
"I'm one of the most popular writers on the continent, my works are highly admired." he said proudly.
"Jiraiya, I'm warning you—don't use your depraved novels to pollute my student."
Nearby, Tsunade's eyebrow twitched as she clenched her fist and glared at Jiraiya, who was currently lying down and receiving healing from Karin. "Or else, you'll have me to answer to."
That brat Kiyoshi already had enough reckless ideas on his own. If he were influenced by Jiraiya's indecent books, who knows what he might do.
"You mean that Icha Icha Paradise book?" Kiyoshi scoffed, "Doesn't look that special to me."
After all, Kiyoshi was a man who had read the classics like Fifty Shades Of Grey, Bared to You….! Those stories— all of them were leagues beyond Jiraiya's trashy book that relies on teasing without delivering anything substantial.
"You've read it?" Tsunade's eyes widened.
No wonder this brat sometimes acted so out of line—turns out, he'd been corrupted by these kinds of books.
She glared furiously at Jiraiya, convinced he was the bad influence ruining her student.
"Don't get so worked up, Tsunade-sensei." Kiyoshi coughed lightly, quickly explaining, "I only flipped through a few pages. It was boring, so I lost interest."
When he was in Konoha, he'd indeed been curious enough to peek at a few pages in a bookstore, but that was it.
There was nothing impressive about it.
Only people like Kakashi, who'd never seen the real world, would be captivated by something like that.
"Ahem! You're still too young to understand adult worlds, I won't argue with you," Jiraiya scoffed, unable to tolerate the disregard for his work.
But then he looked at the kid and lost all desire to defend himself further. It felt pointless.
"Anyway, let me warn you now." Kiyoshi gave Jiraiya, who was lying on a stretcher, a pointed look.
"If you dare to spy on anyone close to me—whether it's intentional or not—then prepare yourself for the consequences."
"Not even the Great Toad Sage will be able to protect you, got that?"
He wasn't joking. If Jiraiya even thought about it, Kiyoshi would chase him to the end of infinity and beyond.
Jiraiya's face darkened, and he almost passed out from anger. This kid was too brazen.
"Don't get too cocky, kid." Provoked by Kiyoshi's attitude, Jiraiya, though not outright furious, felt his pride pricked.
"I haven't even used my Sage Mode yet! Your teacher must've told you about the power of Sage Mode, right?"
In the shinobi world, those capable of wielding Sage Mode were exceedingly rare.
Even though Tsunade had a contract with the Slug Sage of Shikkotsu Forest, she herself hadn't yet mastered its sage techniques.
"Yeah, I mentioned it to Kiyoshi." Tsunade shrugged casually.
There was no denying that Sage Mode was indeed a powerful force.
Even the First Hokage had harnessed Sage Mode to maximize the power of his Wood Release, allowing him to defeat Uchiha Madara, who wielded the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan.
Given Kiyoshi's young age, she had initially planned to wait a few more years before sending him to Shikkotsu Forest to learn sage techniques from Katsuyu.
"Sage Mode?" Kiyoshi's response cut Jiraiya's smug look short as he looked at him with complete disdain. "Is that your trump card?"
"Who do you think you are, looking down on Sage Mode?" Jiraiya's face darkened, his expression annoyed.
Rolling his eyes, he muttered, "I admit, you're undeniably a genius. But you're nowhere near the First Hokage's level yet! Even he learned the Sage Mode."
Even Tsunade raised an eyebrow, wondering if Kiyoshi was getting too arrogant from his success. Yet, she knew him well enough to doubt he'd be so blindly overconfident.
"No, I'm not looking down on Sage Mode." Kiyoshi shook his head, looking at Jiraiya with scorn.
"I'm questioning whether you're underestimating me."
"Combining natural energy with chakra? Is that all?"
"You say that like it's easy, but can you actually do it?" Jiraiya began, but before he could finish, his mouth fell open.
Suddenly, he sensed a powerful surge of natural energy. For a moment, he was left speechless, staring at Kiyoshi in disbelief. "Wait, you mean."
"Like this?"
Kiyoshi closed his eyes, and in an instant, he seemed to merge entirely with nature itself, undergoing a stunning transformation.
His eyes, now reopened, shone like black gems, his gaze intense and sharp.
Green markings appeared around his eyes, and his black hair grew visibly, transforming into a radiant emerald green that cascaded down to his waist, exuding a vibrant aura of life.
"Swish… swish."
Boundless life energy surged around him as grass and flowers burst forth, transforming the surroundings into a lush grassland dotted with vivid, fragrant blossoms of all colors.
"What?"
Tsunade, Shizune, and Karin were all struck speechless.
"This… how is this possible?" Jiraiya's mouth gaped as he stared at Kiyoshi like he'd seen a ghost.
Having trained in Mount Myoboku's Sage techniques, Jiraiya was acutely sensitive to natural energy.
He could feel the overwhelming flow of it gathering around Kiyoshi, leaving no doubt—this was genuine Sage Mode.
But what left him completely shocked was how Kiyoshi could enter Sage Mode instantaneously, with no preparation time at all.
"Forgot to mention." Kiyoshi, still in Sage Mode, looked at Jiraiya, who stood there dumbfounded. "I've been able to use Sage Mode since I was eight."
"What?"
