Naruto: You Call This A Medical Ninja?

Chapter 437: Chapter 437: Jue Organization's Base, Kakuzu's Ambition!

After returning to Yucun Village, Reiki finally had the chance to take a closer look at the place.

It didn't take long for him to understand why the Daimyo of the Land of Fire had been so eager to sell this village to him.

First, the location. It was situated at the border of the Land of Fire, adjacent to the Land of Rivers. While strategic, it wasn't a prime location for development.

Second, the land itself was problematic. The area suitable for farming was pitifully small. For a village that relied on farming and livestock for sustenance, barren land severely limited its potential.

Lastly, the population. Yucun was home to barely a hundred people. Any individuals with talent or ambition had long since left for better opportunities, leaving the village in a constant state of decline.

Simply put, Yucun was a forgotten corner of the world—unwanted and unloved.

As Reiki stood deep in thought, the sound of soft footfalls broke the silence.

"Shhhh..."

Several figures appeared behind him.

"You're here?" Reiki asked calmly, without turning.

"Yes," came the response.

"Chief, is this our new base?" asked a gruff voice. The speaker was Kakuzu, the veteran mercenary of the Jue Organization.

Kakuzu's sharp eyes scanned the desolate village. To him, establishing a base in such a remote place seemed impractical. With their power, they could have easily taken over a more prosperous village and controlled it outright. But instead, Reiki had chosen this barren land. The decision baffled him.

"This place has been bought," Reiki explained. "It's now part of the relocated Rouran Kingdom. You'll act as its hidden protectors, serving as the kingdom's guards. This arrangement gives us a legitimate cover for future operations."

"Guards?" Kakuzu repeated, raising an eyebrow. "So, we stay hidden unless the village is under attack? And I assume I'll be handling its management?"

Reiki nodded. "Exactly. You're in charge of overseeing things, but you're not to interfere with the village's day-to-day affairs. Do you understand?"

Kakuzu's jaw tightened. "Bought it? An entire village?" As someone who prided himself on his financial acumen, the cost of purchasing a recognized village in the ninja world struck a nerve. The money required would have been astronomical, and acquiring the necessary connections even more challenging.

"My main purpose for this village," Reiki continued, "is to cultivate medicinal herbs. That brings me to your first task."

"Go on, Chief. Stop dragging it out," grumbled Souta, one of the more impatient members of the group.

"Reclaim the barren land and create fields for medicinal crops," Reiki explained. "Once the fields are ready, assign people to manage and tend them. For your effort, you'll earn 2% of the harvested medicinal materials used in potion-making. This reward will apply to every harvest."

"Two percent!?" Kakuzu's eyes widened. "Chief, are the potions going to be freely available to us? And can we choose which ones?"

The rest of the group—Souta, Kana, and the others—watched Reiki expectantly. Potions had become a game-changer in the ninja world. Villages and organizations were hoarding them, knowing they could tip the balance in future conflicts. To have access to these potions would be an immense advantage.

"Yes," Reiki said. "You'll have equal exchange rights for potions."

Kakuzu's grin spread wide. "Then leave it to us!" he exclaimed, his enthusiasm spilling over. The prospect of a steady, profitable venture had him fired up.

"The seeds for the medicinal herbs will come from the Sanada Chamber of Commerce," Reiki continued. "Also, the chamber's headquarters will be relocated here. If you need resources, you'll work with them directly."

Reiki handed Kakuzu a scroll. "This contains the contract with the Sanada Chamber of Commerce. Present it, and they'll supply you with the necessary materials."

"Kana, you and Souta will retrieve the seeds," Kakuzu ordered, already shifting into action. "The rest of us will prepare the farmland. Let's start here."

With that, Kakuzu dashed off toward the Land of Rivers.

"Hey, Kakuzu!" Reiki called after him. "Don't go too far. That's the Land of Rivers' territory!"

But Kakuzu was already out of earshot. When it came to money, Kakuzu was like a dog chasing a bone. The lucrative deal Reiki had offered had sent him into overdrive.

"That's just how he is," Kana remarked with a shrug. She turned to Reiki, her expression shifting. "Chief, I've been feeling a bit off lately. Could you check on me?"

She handed the scroll to Souta before stepping closer to Reiki.

"Kana, you're perfectly healthy," Reiki replied flatly. "And for the record, I'm not even ten years old yet. Your thoughts are dangerous."

Kana smirked but didn't push further. "You're quite charming for your age, Chief. I'll wait patiently," she teased before vanishing.

Shaking his head, Reiki turned back toward the village. With Kakuzu in charge, he was confident the tasks in Yucun would be handled efficiently, especially when money was involved. For now, his focus shifted to Sara.

Back in the small courtyard, Sara greeted him with a stack of documents.

"Master Reiki, here's the development plan for the Rouran Kingdom I've drafted," she said, handing it over. "It also includes some issues we need to address immediately. Could you review it and share your thoughts?"

Reiki accepted the documents with a nod, ready to dive into the next phase of his vision for the kingdom.
