One Piece: A Side Story – The Forgotten Isle

Chapter 85: One Piece: A Side Story – The Forgotten Isle (Part 86)

The spirit's voice faded into the air, leaving a stillness in its wake. The crew stood at the heart of the island, surrounded by the remnants of the illusions they had overcome. Despite the trials they had just faced, a sense of calm began to settle over them, like a fog lifting.

Luffy grinned, his usual enthusiasm returning. "That was awesome! We beat it! Now, where's the treasure?"

Nami wiped the sweat from her brow, still processing the weight of the trials they had just endured. "We've passed the spirit's test… but I think we're just getting started."

Zoro, still catching his breath, glanced at the path ahead. "So, this is it? The treasure's just beyond this point?"

Robin nodded, her gaze fixed on the glowing light that now illuminated the path forward. "The spirit said the treasure lies ahead, but I can feel something is off. The island is ancient, and its power seems to be connected to something deeper."

Sanji cracked his knuckles. "If we're going to face whatever's waiting for us, let's do it quickly. I don't like the feeling of this place."

The crew began to move forward, the path ahead winding through a dense forest of massive, twisted trees. The light from the glowing stone beneath their feet guided them forward, but the air grew heavy with each step they took, as if the island itself was alive, watching their every move.

As they ventured deeper into the forest, the landscape seemed to shift once more. The trees began to grow taller, their branches intertwining above them like the fingers of some giant, reaching toward the sky. The ground beneath their feet trembled faintly, and the atmosphere grew thick with an ancient power.

"It feels like we're walking into something… massive," Nami remarked, her voice filled with both awe and caution.

"I can sense it too," Robin said, her eyes narrowing as she examined the surroundings. "There's a hidden power here. Something ancient, something powerful."

Without warning, the ground before them cracked open, and from the depths emerged a colossal stone door, intricately carved with symbols of the ancient world. The door glowed faintly, its surface etched with glowing markings that matched the book Nami had found. The symbols seemed to pulse with energy, like the beating heart of the island itself.

Luffy stepped forward, eyes wide with excitement. "This must be it! The treasure's behind this door, right?"

Before they could get any closer, the air grew thick with tension. The door, as if sensing their approach, rumbled to life. The carvings shifted, rearranging themselves into a series of cryptic images.

Suddenly, a voice echoed, deep and resonant, as though it came from the earth itself. "To pass through, you must answer the riddle of the Forgotten Isle."

The crew froze, eyes wide. Another trial. But this one was different. It wasn't just about physical strength or willpower—it was about their minds, their understanding.

The voice continued, each word heavy with meaning. "What binds the hearts of all who seek? What guides the way when the path is dark? What holds the key to a treasure far beyond?"

The crew exchanged confused glances. The riddle was cryptic, and the answer was elusive. But they had faced difficult trials before, and they weren't about to give up now.

"Okay, let's think this through," Nami said, looking at the glowing symbols on the door. "It says something about hearts, about guiding the way. Could it be…?"

Robin stepped forward, her eyes sharp with insight. "It's about what drives us. What binds us all together. We are a crew, united by our dreams, our goals, and our bonds with each other. Maybe the answer is something like that."

Luffy's eyes sparkled as the pieces clicked into place. "I know what it is! It's 'friendship'! Our bonds—our dreams—they're what guide us through dark times, what keeps us going when we can't see the way forward!"

The ground trembled beneath their feet, and the symbols on the door shifted again, settling into a new formation. A deep rumbling sound echoed from within the stone door as it began to slowly open, revealing a dark passageway beyond.

The voice, now softer, spoke again. "You have answered correctly. The treasure you seek lies ahead, but remember: what you find may not be what you expect. The true treasure is not always what is seen with the eyes."

With the door now open, the crew stepped forward cautiously, the dark passage ahead stretching out like an endless tunnel. The air inside was cold, filled with the scent of ancient stone and forgotten memories. As they moved deeper into the darkness, the light from the door behind them faded, and the only source of illumination came from the faint glow of the markings on the walls.

"Do you think the treasure is really what we're expecting?" Zoro asked, his hand still on the hilt of his sword. "Something tells me this place isn't done testing us."

"It's true," Robin replied, her voice steady. "The spirit warned us. The treasure here could change everything—but it might not be the kind of treasure we imagined."

As they continued deeper into the passage, the feeling of unease grew stronger. The walls seemed to close in around them, and the whispers of the island's past echoed in the silence, hinting at secrets long forgotten.

But the Straw Hat Pirates were not ones to turn back. They had faced countless challenges together, and no matter what awaited them at the end of this tunnel, they would face it as a crew. Whatever the island's true treasure was, they would uncover it together.
