One Piece: A Side Story – The Forgotten Isle

Chapter 86: One Piece: A Side Story – The Forgotten Isle (Part 87)

The crew ventured deeper into the tunnel, the walls of the ancient passageway closing in around them. The faint glow of the symbols on the walls flickered with each step, casting eerie shadows that seemed to move with them. The silence in the air was heavy, broken only by the soft sound of their footsteps echoing against the stone.

As they walked, Luffy's excitement hadn't faded. His determination remained unshaken, his mind focused on the treasure that lay ahead. "I know we're close! I can feel it!" he said with his trademark grin.

Zoro, ever cautious, kept his hand on the hilt of his sword, his eyes scanning the surroundings for any signs of danger. "I don't like how quiet it is. This place is ancient, and it's trying to mess with us. Stay alert."

Robin's expression was thoughtful. "The island's spirit said that the treasure here may not be what we expect. What if it's not gold or riches?"

Nami, though more practical, couldn't help but feel a thrill. "We've gone through so much to get here. If it's not treasure, what else could it be?"

"Whatever it is, we'll deal with it together," Sanji said, glancing at each of his crewmates. "We've faced worse than this. No matter what, we won't let it stop us."

They continued walking, the passageway winding through a series of narrow, stone corridors that led into a large, cavernous room. The air grew even colder, and a strange energy filled the space, making the hairs on the back of their necks stand up. The room was vast, its walls covered in intricate carvings depicting scenes of ancient battles, forgotten gods, and mysterious symbols that seemed to shimmer in the dim light.

At the center of the room, a large stone pedestal stood, upon which rested a small, ornate chest. The chest was covered in golden filigree, its surface engraved with more of the same glowing symbols that adorned the walls.

Luffy's eyes widened. "There it is! The treasure!"

But as they moved closer, the atmosphere shifted. The ground rumbled beneath their feet, and the walls of the cavern began to crack. A low, rumbling growl echoed through the room, and the air grew thick with a suffocating pressure. Something was awakening.

Zoro's hand instinctively moved to his sword, and Robin raised a hand, signaling for the crew to be cautious. "This feels like more than just treasure. The island is alive, and I don't think it's going to let us take what's on that pedestal without a fight."

Suddenly, the chest on the pedestal shook, and a blast of light erupted from it, illuminating the entire cavern. The light was blinding, and the crew had to shield their eyes from the intense glow. When the light finally subsided, a dark figure stood before them, towering over the pedestal.

It was a colossal guardian, a creature made of stone and energy, its body adorned with the same glowing symbols that covered the walls. Its eyes were empty, black voids that seemed to absorb all light, and its massive hands clutched a long, jagged spear that crackled with energy.

The creature's voice boomed through the cavern, its tone deep and thunderous. "You have reached the heart of the Forgotten Isle, but to claim the treasure, you must defeat me. Only those who prove themselves worthy may leave with what lies within the chest."

Luffy's eyes lit up with excitement, his fists clenched. "A fight? You got it! We'll beat you and take that treasure!"

Zoro stepped forward, his face serious. "This one looks tough, but we've fought worse."

Sanji cracked his knuckles, grinning. "Let's make this quick. I'm starving!"

But the creature's form shifted, and its massive stone hands began to glow with an intense, fiery light. The ground beneath their feet trembled, and the walls seemed to close in around them.

Robin took a deep breath, her eyes sharp. "We need to be careful. This is no ordinary guardian. It's a manifestation of the island's power. If we're not careful, we could end up trapped here forever."

Nami's eyes darted around, searching for a strategy. "There must be some way to outsmart it. It's just a creature, after all. We've got more than enough brains to beat it."

Luffy, never one to back down from a challenge, grinned widely. "Don't worry! We'll figure it out! We've been through worse, right? Let's do this!"

The guardian's spear crackled with energy as it swung it toward the crew. The force of the strike sent shockwaves through the cavern, shaking the very ground they stood on. But Luffy, with his usual unpredictability, was already moving, his body stretching as he dodged the strike effortlessly.

"Gear Second!" Luffy shouted, his body bursting with energy as he charged at the guardian, his fists raised.

Zoro was right behind him, his swords drawn and ready. "Let's do this, Luffy!"

Sanji launched himself into the air, his legs glowing with the intensity of his powerful kicks. "Shall I take care of the legs?"

Robin's eyes glinted as she stepped forward, her arms sprouting from the walls, ready to counterattack. "I'll take care of the rest."

The battle had begun. The crew was united once again, ready to face whatever this guardian had to throw at them. The chest remained at the center of the room, its contents still a mystery—but with every strike, the crew grew one step closer to the treasure.

But the island's trials were far from over. What awaited them inside the chest could change everything.
