Chapter 89: One Piece: A Side Story – The Forgotten Isle (Part 90)
The crew made their way back to the surface, the ancient map now safely tucked away in Robin's possession. The island's dense jungle stretched out before them, an eerie silence hanging in the air as they trekked toward the location marked on the map.
Luffy, of course, was impatient to keep moving. "Come on, let's go! I want to see what's inside that vault!"
Zoro, ever the realist, reminded him, "We can't just rush in without knowing what we're up against. This place is ancient, and it's hiding something big. We need a solid plan."
Nami, holding the map, pointed ahead. "According to this, the vault is deep in the heart of the island. But it's not going to be easy to get to. There are more markings on the map that show traps and barriers designed to protect it."
Sanji's face lit up with excitement. "Traps? Sounds like fun. I'm ready for anything."
Robin glanced down at the map again, her fingers tracing the new markings. "These symbols… they indicate a series of challenges. We'll need to solve them to get closer to the vault."
Luffy, grinning from ear to ear, jumped into the air. "Challenges? Bring it on!"
As they continued their journey, the dense foliage grew thicker, the trees towering overhead like ancient guardians. It felt as though the island itself was watching them, testing them with each step.
Hours passed as the crew ventured deeper, the sounds of wildlife becoming fainter with each mile. The air grew colder, and the ground beneath them began to rumble ominously.
"What is that?" Nami asked, her voice tense.
Suddenly, the earth cracked open in front of them, and a massive stone golem emerged from the ground, its glowing red eyes locking onto the crew. It was the size of a mountain, its body covered in ancient runes that pulsed with a dark energy.
"I should've known this place wouldn't be easy," Zoro muttered, drawing his swords.
The golem's massive arm swung toward them, the ground shaking with the force of its movement. "Everyone, get ready!" Luffy shouted as he rushed forward, his body stretching as he prepared to fight.
Robin's eyes widened in recognition. "This isn't just any golem… It's a guardian, created to protect the vault. It's tied to the island's ancient magic."
Sanji kicked into action, "Then let's show this thing what we're made of!"
The golem swung its arm again, but Luffy dodged, his body bouncing off the trees as he launched himself toward the creature's head. "Gomu Gomu no—Bazooka!" His fists slammed into the golem's face with the force of a cannonball.
The creature staggered back, but the damage was minimal. It let out a deafening roar, its body shifting as the runes on its chest began to glow brighter.
"It's not going down that easily," Zoro said, stepping forward. "I'll cut it down!"
He rushed toward the golem, his swords flashing with deadly precision. With a slash of his blades, he carved through the stone, but the golem quickly reformed, the runes glowing brighter as it absorbed the damage.
"We need to stop it from regenerating," Robin said, thinking quickly. "There must be a way to disrupt its power source."
As the golem reared back for another massive swing, Luffy shouted, "I've got it! Let's hit it with everything we've got at once!"
The crew nodded in agreement, preparing for a coordinated attack. Luffy, using his stretchy powers, launched himself into the air, aiming for the golem's head once more. "Gomu Gomu no—Pistol!" he shouted, landing a powerful punch that cracked the stone.
Zoro moved in next, his swords flashing with deadly speed. "Santoryu—Three-Sword Style!" His blades struck with precision, cutting through the golem's defenses.
Sanji followed up with his fiery kicks. "Diable Jambe—Burning Sky!" His legs glowed with intense heat as he delivered a devastating series of kicks to the golem's chest.
Robin, using her powers, launched her limbs from all angles, wrapping them around the golem's arms and legs to hold it in place. "Now, Nami!"
Nami, standing at a safe distance, focused her weather powers. "Thunderbolt Tempo!" she cried, summoning a bolt of lightning that crackled through the air, striking the golem's chest and causing its body to convulse.
The combined force of their attacks overwhelmed the golem. The stone creature staggered back, its body shaking as cracks began to spread through its surface. With one final punch from Luffy, the golem exploded into a shower of rubble, its runes fading into nothingness.
The crew stood panting, their faces covered in dust, but smiles spread across their faces. "That was a workout," Sanji said, wiping his brow.
Luffy grinned. "That was awesome! Let's keep going!"
Robin looked at the wreckage of the golem. "That was only the first of many challenges we'll face on our way to the vault. But this gives us hope—we're on the right track."
Nami glanced at the map, which now seemed to glow faintly with renewed energy. "The vault's still ahead. Let's go, guys."
As the crew moved forward, they couldn't help but feel the island's secrets slowly unfolding before them. But they knew one thing for sure—this journey was far from over, and the Heart of the Forgotten Isle was still within their grasp.
The deeper they ventured, the closer they came to uncovering the island's final, most dangerous secret.
