When they arrived at the junkyard, there was already a crowd. The new ship was massive, gleaming under the sunlight, its size and shape a proof to Franky's craftsmanship. It dwarfed the Merry, but something about it still felt familiar, almost like an homage to their old friend.
"There she is!" Iceburg pulled the cloth covering it. "This is Franky's Dream Ship, the one that'll take you all across the Grand Line!"
The crew's eyes widened as they took in the sight of the ship. Sanji whistled, clearly impressed, while Zoro grunted his approval. Luffy's jaw dropped in awe, and Chopper, perched on his shoulder, gasped. Robin and Nami, standing close to Coby, shared a glance, both of them equally taken aback.
Luffy rolled across the lawned deck of the new ship, laughing as he slid across the grass. Chopper bounced around excitedly, inspecting every corner and feature of the ship, marveling at almost everything.
"This is amazing!" Chopper squealed, running up to a small cannon. "Look at this! It's so cool!"
Nami was already deep in conversation with Iceburg, discussing the ship's sails and mobility. "So, these sails are designed to catch even the slightest breeze?" she asked, her eyes scanning the massive masts.
Iceburg nodded, hands on his hips. "Yeah, and the rigging is reinforced for extreme weather. You won't have any trouble steering in rough seas."
Sanji, meanwhile, had disappeared inside to find the kitchen. It didn't take long for his shout of approval to echo back outside. "The kitchen's perfect!" he called out, clearly satisfied with his domain. "It even has a lock on the Fridge!"
After Luffy had his fill of rolling around, he finally stood up and turned to Iceburg. "Hey, Ice-uncle, where's Franky?"
Iceburg glanced at him, his face softening slightly. "He doesn't want to see you anymore."
Luffy frowned, clearly confused. "Why? I was gonna ask him to be our shipwright!"
Iceburg chuckled lightly. "I figured as much. He thought about it too."
Luffy's frown deepened. "Doesn't he want to join?"
Iceburg shook his head. "It's not that. Franky really wants to sail with you guys, but he feels like he owes this island too much to just leave."
The crew exchanged glances. Luffy, however, wasn't one to let things go that easily.
Soon they did as planned, the atmosphere shifted with a burst of loud, chaotic laughter from the streets. From a distance, Franky's gang could be heard, and before long, they appeared, chasing after a half-naked Franky who was showing his family fortune proudly.
"We got his pants!" shouted Mozu, waving the stolen briefs triumphantly.
Franky's face was red with fury as he stormed toward the ship, trying to snatch his clothes back. "Give those back, you damn idiots!" he yelled, his deep voice booming across the dockyard.
The crew gathered at the side of the ship, watching the bizarre scene unfold. Franky, still chasing after his gang, finally made it to the feet of the ship. He paused, breathing heavily, as he stood face-to-face with Luffy.
"You—" Franky started, but Luffy cut him off, his usual grin plastered across his face.
"Join my crew!" Luffy said without hesitation, his voice full of excitement.
Franky's face twisted into surprise and frustration. "What? No way!" he shouted, still flustered from the pants incident. "I'm not going anywhere! I belong here, in Water 7!"
Coby, leaning against the railing of the ship, smirked. He vanished in a flash using Shadow Step and appeared behind Franky in an instant. Without missing a beat, Coby kicked Franky square in the ass, sending the big cyborg flying onto the deck of the ship. Franky landed with a thud, groaning as he rubbed his sore backside.
"Hide your hideous body from my girls," Coby quipped, dusting off his hands as he walked over.
"Girls?" Nami shot Coby an annoyed look but couldn't help the small smile that crept across her face. Robin, sitting nearby, chuckled softly, clearly entertained by Coby's words.
Nami, however, narrowed her eyes at Robin, clearly catching the "girls" comment. Robin just gave a casual shrug, unbothered by the subtle tension.
Franky groaned, pushing himself up from the deck, still scowling. "I said I'm not joining you guys!"
Luffy, unfazed by Franky's protests, simply crossed his arms and stared down at him. "You already built us this ship. You might as well come with us."
Franky's resistance faltered for a moment as he looked around the ship. His eyes softened as he took in the sight of his creation. It was a masterpiece—his dream ship. The thought of it sailing the Grand Line without him clearly bothered him, but his pride wouldn't let him admit it.
Coby, sensing Franky's hesitation, leaned in slightly. "We know you want to come with us, Franky. Stop acting tough."
Franky growled, clenching his fists, but the determination in his eyes was slowly fading. He knew deep down that his dream urging him to go with them, but the guilt he felt about leaving Water 7 held him back.
Before Franky could respond, Luffy grinned even wider. "If you don't come with us, I will repair this ship."
This comment was enough to convince Franky, who jumped up and said, "You would ruin this ship without me in no time anyway."
The crew erupted into laughter at Franky's blunt remark. Luffy grinned, standing up and stretching his arms. "Glad you finally came around."
With Franky now onboard, the crew gathered around the helm as the ship started to sail away from Water 7. Nami and Chopper kept glancing back at the junkyard, their expressions anxious. Usopp was yet to arrive, and the silence from him was weighing on them. Even as the wind caught their sails, pushing them forward he was nowhere to be seen.
Sitting with his back leaning against the mast, Luffy was rocking his legs, his usual carefree demeanor replaced with a quiet worry. He stared out at the sky, lost in thought. The crew could tell he was more anxious than anyone else, though he didn't show it openly.
Franky, standing by the railing, glanced back toward the dock, then looked at Luffy. "Are you sure about not waiting for him?" he asked, the concern clear in his voice.
Luffy's leg stopped swinging, and he looked up at the sky for a moment before answering. "I've been waiting for him. Ever since Sanji told us about him, I've been waiting. But he never showed up. If this is his answer…" He paused, a small but determined smile spreading across his face. "I'm sure he'll be fine."
Before they could discuss Usopp any further, a loud crash echoed. A cannonball landed near the ship, causing the crew to jump up, their heads snapping toward the source. Mist billowed from where the cannonball hit, and the crew quickly gathered at the edge of the ship, scanning the horizon.
From a nearby Marine ship, Garp's booming voice echoed through a megaphone. "Hey, Luffy, can you hear me? This is Grandpa, this is Grandpa!"
Luffy's eyes widened in disbelief, and he bolted to the edge of the ship. "What the hell, Grandpa? You said you wouldn't catch us here!" he shouted, his voice filled with frustration.
Garp's laugh rumbled through the air as he responded. "Well, a lot happened. So, I'm sorry, but I'm going to ask you to drown and die. It's not like I can make up for it, but I'll face you guys myself."
Garp grinned as he called out, "Oi! Hand me a cannonball!" A nearby Marine quickly obeyed, rushing over with the massive iron ball. Garp weighed it in his hand, swinging it around a couple of times to test the heft. His grin widened, clearly enjoying the moment. "Genkotsu Meteor!" he roared, launching the cannonball with a single throw.
The iron ball tore through the air, whistling as it rocketed toward the Straw Hats' ship at an impossible speed. The crew barely had time to react before it slammed into the water just beside them, sending a towering wave crashing over the deck.
"He threw it with his bare hands!" Sanji shouted, wiping water from his face as the ship rocked violently from the impact.
Zoro looked grim, "That was faster than a regular cannonball."
Luffy's eyes bulged as he leaned over the railing, shaking a fist at Garp's ship. "Grandpa! Stop it! You're gonna sink us!"
Garp just laughed from across the water, clearly enjoying himself. "I won't let you escape that easily, Luffy!" he yelled, cracking his knuckles. "I'll throw more if you keep running!"
Garp stood at the bow of the Marine ship, cracking his knuckles as thousands of cannonballs were hauled to his side. His grin widened, and with a single wave of his hand, he signaled the attack. "Bring 'em all! Let's give these brats a proper farewell!" he roared.
