One Piece: Holy Light Swordmaster

Chapter 115: Chapter 115: "I’m Applying for Leave!"

After arranging for Hina to escort Kuina back to her academy, Wright and Garp returned to G-3 Branch, dedicating an entire month to training three officers in Haki mastery.

Why not at Marineford?

When word got out that Wright and Garp were conducting Haki training for their subordinates, other Marine officers were on the verge of losing their minds. They could punch hard, sure—but continuous, non-stop training, healed by Wright's powers in between, with no time for recovery? What kind of madness was this?!

"Have some humanity! With your training methods, how are we supposed to maintain our authority in front of our own troops?"

Thus, Wright and Garp had to retreat to the G-3 Branch base to continue the brutal regimen.

Under their relentless beatdowns and Wright's constant healing, Rosinante, Smoker, and Drake made astounding progress in both sensory perception and physical resilience. After a month of rigorous effort, all three awakened Observation Haki, with Smoker even managing to unlock a rudimentary level of Armament Haki!

"Smoker, your Armament Haki is still in its early stages. You'll need to keep working hard to refine it..."

Just as Wright prepared to delve deeper into Haki guidance, a messenger arrived.

"Vice Admiral Wright, there's a call for you—from Fleet Admiral Sengoku!"

"Hmm?"

Wright gestured for Smoker and the others to continue their training with Garp, then stepped aside to take the transponder snail from the messenger.

"Old man Sengoku?"

"Wright, there's an urgent matter!"

The grave tone in Sengoku's voice immediately put Wright on alert.

"What happened?"

"In three days, Queen Otohime of the Ryugu Kingdom on Fish-Man Island will escort a World Noble—Saint Donquixote Mjosgard—to the Holy Land, Mary Geoise!"

"!!?"

"A queen from the Ryugu Kingdom...and a Celestial Dragon!" Wright's expression darkened as memories of this event surfaced.

This was a pivotal moment he had only heard about vaguely before. After Jinbe became a Warlord of the Sea, there had been rumors that Queen Otohime ventured to the surface world—but he hadn't known it was tied to this incident.

"What do you need me to do?" Wright asked solemnly.

"This matter is of great importance," Sengoku explained. "The Ryugu Kingdom has always been wary of humans. Queen Otohime is risking much by stepping into the human world."

"I need you to ensure her safety until she returns to Fish-Man Island!"

"Fish-Man Island lies on the only known route to the New World, and Jinbe's recent induction as a Warlord means capturing fish-men and merfolk as slaves is officially prohibited. However..." Sengoku hesitated before continuing.

"A Celestial Dragon traveling alongside her complicates matters. Deploying an Admiral would send the wrong message, so we need someone of Vice Admiral rank—an elite one at that."

Wright understood immediately. "Got it. But what's the story with this Celestial Dragon?"

"Saint Donquixote Mjosgard... His shipwreck near Fish-Man Island led to Queen Otohime rescuing him," Sengoku explained. "However, his attitudes toward the fish-men are... complicated. Queen Otohime is using this opportunity to petition the World Government directly."

"Humph... a 'shipwreck,' huh?"

"More like he deliberately ventured there to capture slaves," Wright said coldly. "Now that Jinbe is a Warlord, they can't openly traffic in fish-men or merfolk anymore."

"Watch your words, Wright!" Sengoku warned, his voice lowering. "You're not wrong, but that's exactly why I'm sending you. Your defensive and healing abilities make you the ideal candidate for this mission!"

"No problem. I'll head out immediately. I guarantee Queen Otohime's safety."

After a pause, Wright added, "By the way, I'd like to visit Fish-Man Island while I'm at it."

Sengoku seemed puzzled. "There's no issue with that—it is, after all, a World Government member state. But why the sudden interest?"

Wright replied seriously, "Fish-Man Island is said to be a vacation paradise! After training with Garp and three burly men for over a month, I'm on the brink of losing my sanity. This is the perfect chance to apply for some leave!"

Sengoku: "..."

On the Ryugu Kingdom's royal escort ship, Queen Otohime basked in the sunlight, reflecting on the words she had shared with her husband, King Neptune.

"If someone as frail as I can return safely from this journey, it will prove the surface is not as dangerous as they fear!"

Listening to the "voices" of the people around her—a gift of her unparalleled Observation Haki—Otohime found herself reassured. "At least this Celestial Dragon's hostility toward me has diminished significantly... He's even become somewhat amicable."

"Your Majesty!"

A soldier approached with a report. "A message from Marine Headquarters: we are approaching the Red Line. Vice Admiral Wright's ship will rendezvous with us in thirty minutes!"

"Vice Admiral Wright..."

Since Jinbe's rise to the rank of Warlord, relations between the Ryugu Kingdom and the World Government had stabilized. Information about the surface world now reached Fish-Man Island more freely.

As one of the youngest and most popular Vice Admirals in Marine Headquarters, Wright's reputation had not escaped Otohime's notice.

"It's said that Vice Admiral Wright possesses a unique ability to discern good from evil in people's hearts," Otohime mused. "That allows him to be uncompromising toward wicked pirates while ensuring he doesn't wrongfully convict the innocent."

"Not to mention, he has extremely rare healing powers. This Vice Admiral Wright... What kind of person is he? This journey to the surface world is shaping up to be full of surprises."

"Vice Admiral Wright! The Ryugu Kingdom's escort ship is in sight. Please issue orders!"

A Marine messenger approached Wright with the latest update.

Given the special status of the Celestial Dragon aboard, Wright had left Rosinante behind at G-3 Branch to avoid complications.

"Rosinante might very well be a relative of that idiot on the ship," Wright thought, shaking his head.

With Rosinante staying back to continue his training, Wright had tasked Garp with keeping him busy—but not too busy.

Wright brought Smoker and Drake aboard his personal battleship and set sail for Headquarters. After completing the mission handoff, they departed to rendezvous with the Ryugu Kingdom's escort ship and provide protection.

"Establish contact with the escort ship and request permission to approach for escort duties. Confirm the status of Saint Donquixote Mjosgard," Wright ordered.

As the messenger left to carry out the orders, Wright shook his head.

"Donquixote?" Smoker muttered, his curiosity piqued.

"It's one of the Celestial Dragons' family names," Wright replied, giving Smoker a knowing look. Smoker seemed to understand and nodded without further questions.

Drake, however, fell silent, a shadow passing over his expression.

He knew the Donquixote family all too well. His own father had fallen victim to Donquixote Doflamingo's schemes.

But now, all of that was in the past...
