Chapter 31: Execution
"Oh my gosh! What a stunning woman!"
"How can someone be this beautiful?"
"It's definitely you!" everyone shouted in unison. This time, not only the men but also the women and elders half-knelt on the ground, captivated by Hancock's presence.
"Why's it so noisy outside?" Clover asked, hearing the commotion.
"It's probably how things are in a busy town like this," Nami replied as she sorted through her new clothes. The two of them paid little attention to the events outside.
"Your food is ready," the restaurant owner said, bringing Clover and Nami's meals. They began eating.
Meanwhile, Smoker, watching from a higher vantage point, furrowed his brows. "Why is one of the Warlords of the Sea here?"
"Sister, why did you rush out? You'll cause a scene," Marigold hurried to Hancock's side, concerned.
"What does it matter? Some low-level clown trying to make a spectacle of himself." Hancock glanced at Alvida's defeated form and shrugged.
"We should get moving soon. The crowd is getting bigger," Sandersonia added, sensing that the situation was escalating.
"What an amazing woman!" Buggy muttered, wide-eyed, but quickly snapped back to focus. "Now's not the time for that!" He looked back up at Luffy, who stood bound on the execution platform, clearly confused.
Buggy seized the moment, jumping onto the platform and locking Luffy in wooden shackles. "Hahahaha! Clover Benson! Show yourself, or I'll execute your captain!" Buggy shouted, making his grand declaration.
"What's that guy with the red nose doing?" Hancock wondered aloud, glancing up at Buggy.
"Nani!?" Buggy's crew gasped in horror at Hancock's dismissive words, fearing for their captain.
"You...what did you just say?" Buggy growled, glaring at Hancock, his temper flaring.
"Hoo? Are you challenging me?" Hancock's gaze grew cold as she locked eyes with Buggy.
"Did someone just call my name?" Clover paused while eating and glanced toward the restaurant's entrance.
"I think I heard it too. Should we check it out?" Nami asked.
"Let's finish eating first," Clover replied calmly.
Outside, the situation continued to escalate.
"Hey! Buggy! What are you doing up there?" A voice called out from below the platform. A cloaked figure was walking by, casually observing the scene.
"Huh? Isn't that Luffy?" The figure muttered, noticing the bound pirate on the platform.
It was Shanks. He had spotted Buggy first, and then Luffy.
"Who's that!?" Buggy barked, looking down at the figure. When Shanks lifted his head, their eyes met.
"You!?" Buggy was startled. "Why are you here!?"
"Who's blocking my view?" Hancock muttered. She aimed a swift kick at the figure, but Shanks quickly drew his sword, blocking the attack with his Haki.
"Hey, hey, no need to be so aggressive, Boa Hancock," Shanks said calmly.
Recognizing him, Hancock lowered her leg. "Ah, it's you, Shanks." Acknowledging his strength, she chose not to escalate the situation further.
"You two are stealing my moment here! This is my show!" Buggy declared, laughing maniacally. "Monkey D. Luffy, you're about to meet your end at the same place as the legendary Gol D. Roger!"
"Who even are you?! Why should I die here?!" Luffy shouted back, confused.
"Why? Because that crewmate of yours, Clover Benson, trashed my territory! Since he won't come out, you'll die in his place!" Buggy shouted. He then pointed at Luffy's straw hat. "And that hat of yours—it used to belong to him!" Buggy pointed accusingly at Shanks.
The red-haired pirate had called Luffy's name earlier, and Buggy had overheard it.
"Oh, now I get it," Luffy said, understanding the situation a little better.
"PIRATES!! RUN!" The townspeople, realizing the danger, started fleeing in panic.
"It's Buggy the Clown! Everyone, get out of here!"
"Buggy the Clown?" Clover and Nami exchanged looks after hearing the name. They stood up, paid the bill, and walked outside.
"Buggy the Clown is about to execute a pirate named Monkey D. Luffy at the execution platform!" A panicked passerby shouted.
"Luffy's execution?" Clover looked puzzled. Buggy shouldn't even know Luffy at this point!
"Why did the weather suddenly get so bad? A storm's coming," Nami observed as dark clouds began gathering overhead.
"Nami, Clover!" Usopp, Sanji, and Zoro came running up to them.
"They said Buggy the Clown is going to execute Luffy. Who is this guy?" Usopp asked as he caught his breath.
Sanji was carrying a huge fish over his shoulder.
"He's a pirate I dealt with before. Looks like he's trying to use Luffy to get to me. A storm's brewing, and with all this commotion, the Marines are sure to act soon. Go to the port and get the ship ready—I'll go save Luffy."
Clover tossed all of Nami's shopping bags to Zoro.
"Oi! What's your deal?!" Zoro yelled, catching the bags in surprise.
"Let's move!" Nami shouted to the group, sprinting ahead. "Come on, Clover!" She called over her shoulder.
"Yeah, I'm coming," Clover responded, breaking into a run toward the execution platform.
At the same time, the wind picked up, and dark clouds rapidly spread over the entire town.
"The pirate Monkey D. Luffy is being executed because his crew dared to offend me! Let's put on a show, boys!" Buggy declared to the crowd below, as his crew revealed themselves and cheered.
"Buggy, you're making a big scene," Shanks said with a calm smile. "But Luffy's a friend of mine. Could you let him go as a favor to me?"
"Why should I give you any favors? After I take care of him, you're next, Shanks!" Buggy shouted, raising a large blade and pointing it menacingly at Shanks.
