One Piece: My Name is Jack, I'm Very Resistant to Beating

Chapter 44: Chapter 44: Glug Glug... Burp

The royal palace of Renske was in utter chaos.

Jack charged ahead alone, cutting down hundreds of the royal army. Their morale shattered, and the soldiers scattered like headless flies, panicked and aimless. The final blow to their spirit was the captain of the royal guard being crushed under Jack's boot like a squashed bug.

"Royal soldiers! Surrender now!"

"Join me, under Hedarn's banner, and help overthrow the decaying rule of Henry VI!"

Hedarn, surrounded by his loyal guards, stepped forward. Holding a loudspeaker, he addressed the royal troops with booming enthusiasm:

"This is all because Henry VI broke his promises! His betrayal has brought down the wrath of the Beasts Pirates and the great Jack-sama upon us!"

"Remember how Henry VI treated you? The palace hoards endless food, yet your families outside these walls starve without a crumb to share!"

"Look at this country! The royal family basks in luxury, while the common folk—"

"Enough with the chatter!" Jack snapped, snatching the loudspeaker from Hedarn. His towering frame loomed over the trembling soldiers as he roared:

"Drop your weapons! Kneel!"

"Surrender and live! Resist and die!"

Snap.

Thud-thud-thud.

In moments, every single soldier dropped to their knees, the sound of their armor clattering against the stone floor filling the air. Jack's men stood unfazed, towering over the cowering crowd.

Jack turned to Hedarn, who was kneeling as well. He raised an eyebrow and muttered:

"Hedarn… Stand up. There's no need for this. We're on the same side."

Hedarn chuckled nervously. "Heh… My legs… They're a bit numb. Just give me a moment…"

Jack tossed the loudspeaker back to him and gestured at the royal soldiers.

"Reorganize them. I'm sure you can handle that, can't you?"

"When I return, I expect you to have full control of this city."

Hedarn's eyes lit up with excitement. "Of course! And not just this city—I can take control of the entire kingdom! The governors of the other two cities are all from my family!"

Jack raised an eyebrow in amusement. "Impressive. With a family like that, how did Henry VI dare turn on you?" He smirked. "I suppose immortality must've been a tempting prize for a dying king… Foolish, really."

Once the royal soldiers had been successfully reorganized under Hedarn's command, Jack nodded in approval and turned to leave. After a few steps, he glanced back at Hedarn, still basking in his newfound authority.

"When you take the throne, don't forget how you got there," Jack warned.

"Jack-sama! You have my word!" Hedarn's tone grew solemn. "I swear allegiance to the Beasts Pirates! To prove my loyalty, I'll turn Renske's port over to you!"

Jack scratched his chin thoughtfully. Renske's port was the safest in the Aelron continent—a critical choke point. Controlling it would give the Beasts Pirates a stranglehold on the region.

"Smart move," Jack muttered. "But don't think I'm unaware of your intentions. You want us to deal with the other kingdoms for you, don't you?"

Hedarn's eager nodding betrayed his motives. Jack sighed. "Fine. Rebuild the port. I'll have Kaido send reinforcements to station there. That'll be our base on Ailen Island. Oh, and don't forget the town we destroyed on the way. That needs rebuilding, too."

Hedarn's enthusiastic nodding grew comical, his sparse hair flopping with each movement. Jack couldn't help but chuckle.

"Relax, Hedarn! Stay loyal to Kaido, and you'll have everything you want—even control of all Ailen."

"Understood, Jack-sama!" Hedarn's voice was practically shaking with excitement. "You can count on me!"

Jack smirked. "Good. Now, get us some water and food. Also, tell me about this woman named Master. What's she like?"

Hedarn paused to think. "She's stunningly beautiful and… very tall. At least four meters tall."

"Four meters?" Jack's eyes twinkled with interest. "Sounds like a good match for me."

After feasting and restocking, Jack's group left the city. Along the way, they encountered a pack of predators drawn by the scent of blood. The beasts, however, quickly submitted, becoming unwilling mounts under Jack's intimidating presence. Even the ostrich-like bird among them seemed thrilled, constantly pecking and chasing its new companions to assert dominance.

A week of trekking through forests and streams brought them to their destination. The lush greenery and babbling brooks made it seem like a perfect spot for a picnic, but there was no sign of the castle they sought. Jack frowned at the map, then realized he had been holding it upside down.

"Damn it," he muttered, coughing awkwardly.

"Jack-sama? What's wrong?" Rim asked, catching his breath.

Jack didn't answer. He tied Rim to the ostrich and rushed back the way they had come. Even the usually energetic bird was panting by the time they finally reached Master's castle in the dead of night, just as the immortality ritual was beginning.

The tall walls and tightly shut gates posed a problem. If they barged in, they might disrupt the ceremony. But waiting wasn't an option either; they had no idea how far along the ritual was.

As Jack pondered his next move, a pressing need overtook him. Spotting a tree nearby, he relieved himself with a contented sigh.

Splash.

"Ahhh…"

The relief was so satisfying that Jack closed his eyes, savoring the moment.

Crack.

"Hmm?"

The ground beneath him began to tremble. Startled, Jack stepped back just as a large head emerged from the earth, holding a torch. The figure's gaze swept the area, stopping abruptly on Jack.

"What the…" Jack exclaimed, his voice trailing off as he stared.

The only response was a guttural sound:

"Glug… glug… glug… Burp."
