Chapter 45: Chapter 45: What the Hell?!
"Ugh…"
"Blergh…"
"Master! What's wrong?!"
"Ugh…"
"Blergh…"
"You…"
Jack stood there, dumbfounded. One hand scratching his head, the other pointing at the stunning woman before him, who was bent over, retching uncontrollably. Around her, a group of adorable yet anxious-looking girls hovered with concern written all over their faces.
What in the world is going on here?
Jack was flustered. I just went to take a leak! That's all! Where did she even pop out from?
His gaze darted between the stunning woman and the worried girls. He was utterly confused.
Wait a minute… isn't this her castle?
And wasn't she— Wait for it—planning some immortality ritual tonight?
Why in the world was she crawling out of the ground like some kind of horror movie monster?
The sight of Jack's ostrich-chicken hybrid mounts approaching snapped him out of his thoughts. Leading the charge were his mounts, each looking fiercer than the last, their aggressive appearances causing the gaggle of beautiful women to panic.
"Who… who are you people?!"
"Stay back!"
"Master, look at them! Do something!"
Jack turned his attention back to the woman, now identified as Master. She was towering—at least four meters tall. Her striking pink women's suit was impeccably tailored, giving her an air of authority and mystery. Long, wavy violet hair framed her pale, porcelain face. But… why did she smell like… urine?
Her nose was sharp, her lips petite, and her large double-lidded eyes radiated anger. For a moment, Jack locked eyes with her, then broke the silence, trying to muster up some guilt.
"Look, uh… I swear, this isn't my fault!" he began awkwardly. "I mean, who expects someone to crawl out of the ground in the middle of the night? I just needed to pee! That's it!
"And another thing, why were you… why was your mouth open? Who does that?"
Master's face darkened, her eyes narrowing dangerously. Without a word, she drew a longsword from her waist and swung it at him.
"Clang!"
Rim—Jack's loyal companion—stepped in with his own sword, blocking the blow with ease. His expression shifted from calm to intrigued as he studied Master.
Well… this is awkward. Jack sighed inwardly. Maybe I'll let Rim handle this. He seems into it, and honestly… she's got some unique tastes… yeah, not my style.
Jack's gaze shifted to the other girls, scanning for prospects. But they were all under two meters tall. He shook his head in disappointment.
Focus, Jack. Why are there so many crates here anyway?
In terms of skill, Rim's swordsmanship was leagues above Jack's. If their proficiency were measured in system levels, Rim would rank a solid tier higher. However, his body's frailty meant he couldn't sustain prolonged fights. Because of this, Rim's strikes were always precise, fast, and decisive. Most opponents didn't last past ten moves against him. If they did, they'd be dispatched by the twentieth.
Anyone surviving more than twenty strikes? Rim would flee without hesitation—his body simply couldn't endure.
Facing Master, however, was a rare exception. Her movements were clumsy at first, almost sluggish, and she nearly got injured. But after a few exchanges, she found her rhythm. Ten moves in, and the two were evenly matched. Jack watched from the sidelines, his hand resting on his massive club.
Rim's fighting expression was… unsettling. Though his face could rival the handsomeness of a superstar, during combat, it twisted into something devilish—the face of a crazed killer savoring every moment of carnage. This earned him the nickname "Ghost Swordsman."
However, when encountering an evenly matched foe, Rim's demeanor would shift back to one of focus and intensity. Every fiber of his being would pour into the fight.
Though plagued by illness, Rim's discipline was unmatched. Even when wracked with violent coughing fits, he would rise before dawn to train. He knew his body was weak, but through sheer willpower and relentless effort, he forged himself into a formidable swordsman.
After joining the Beast Pirates, Rim rarely encountered anyone who could push him past his limits. Master was the first in years to go toe-to-toe with him, even if he wasn't using his full power. For Rim, this was thrilling.
With resolve burning in his eyes, he decided to stop holding back. His blade shimmered with concentrated Armament Haki as he lunged forward with a ferocious strike.
"Clang!"
"Jack-sama! Help!" Rim cried out as Master blocked his final attack. Without missing a beat, Rim turned and bolted, leaving Jack to face the towering woman.
Master, despite her exhaustion, saw Jack approach with his enormous spiked club. Instead of retreating, she advanced, her sword slashing through the air toward him.
"Clang!"
"Clang! Clang!"
Blow after blow, the two clashed. Though she managed to withstand Rim's relentless strikes, Jack's raw strength proved overwhelming. With a powerful swing, he knocked the sword clean from her hands, leaving her stunned.
The dark night concealed Jack's face, but his killing intent was palpable. Sensing the next strike coming, Master closed her eyes and screamed, "Wait! Mercy, please! Hero, spare me!"
Jack froze mid-swing, his club hovering inches from her head. The plea triggered something in his mind… something oddly familiar.
Rim returned, holding a torch, his expression skeptical as he approached the defeated Master.
"Tch. She's strong, I'll give her that. But her strength's wasted on someone who can't keep up."
He crouched down, inspecting her more closely.
"Hmm… strong arms… decent figure… but where's the…" Rim's eyes narrowed. "Wait a second…"
"What are you doing?!" Master snapped, her voice growing panicked.
"Hold still!" Rim retorted.
Then, with a sharp intake of breath, he reeled back, dropping the torch.
"What the hell?!"
Jack's curiosity spiked. He advanced, gripping his club tightly.
"What happened? What did you find out, Rim?" he demanded.
Rim's silence was punctuated by muffled sobs. "Bigger… than mine…"
Confused, Jack grabbed the torch and turned it toward Master, studying her closely. His face contorted in disbelief as realization dawned.
"What the hell?!"
