Chapter 9: Chapter 9: Rescue Robin
The drawbridge groaned as it slowly lowered, bridging the gap between the courthouse and the Tower of Justice. The Straw Hats waited with bated breath, their eyes fixed on the mechanism. Jiro stood among them, his fists clenched tightly, his heart racing.
"This is it," Jiro thought, glancing at Luffy. "This crew… they really never give up, do they?"
From the Tower of Justice, Spandam's voice rang out in panicked shrieks, barking orders to the Marines below. Judge Baskerville, towering and bizarre, commanded the personnel to fire the mortar cannon to halt the drawbridge.
"Not on my watch!" Paulie yelled, leaping into action alongside Zambai. Jiro hesitated for a split second before gritting his teeth and following them.
Paulie's ropes lashed out, binding Baskerville's legs, while Zambai swung his sword toward the three heads. Jiro, unsure of what he could contribute, run forward to flank them, aiming a well-timed kick at the cannon's operator.
The kick landed, but the operator managed to fire the cannon just in time. The mortar shell exploded against the drawbridge, halting its descent. Jiro was thrown back by the force of the blast, landing hard on the courthouse floor.
"Damn it!" Jiro muttered, coughing as smoke filled the air.
Meanwhile, Spandam began dragging Robin toward the Gates of Justice. Robin's eyes were filled with silent despair, her hands bound and her body weakened.
"Move faster!" Spandam barked, yanking her forward. "The Gates of Justice won't wait forever!"
Before he could take another step, Franky appeared, his imposing figure blocking Spandam's path.
"Not so fast, you slimy coward," Franky growled. He glanced back at Robin, his expression softening. "I misjudged you, Robin. These Straw Hats… they're risking everything for you. I won't let your sacrifice be in vain."
Franky reached into his coat and pulled out the blueprints for Pluton, holding them high for all to see.
"This is what you've been after, right? The key to ultimate destruction?" Franky's voice boomed, silencing the chaos around him.
Jiro, recovering from the blast, watched from the sidelines. He could barely believe what he was seeing.
"What's he doing?" Jiro whispered, his eyes widening as Franky held a lighter to the blueprints.
Franky's voice turned solemn. "The architect who created these blueprints believed in a counterbalance, a way to stop a monster if it ever fell into the wrong hands. But I'm betting everything on these Straw Hats. If they lose, the world is doomed. But if they win…"
With a flick of the lighter, the blueprints ignited, the flames consuming them in seconds.
As the fire burned, Jiro stunned in place, looking at the burned blueprints. He felt a surge of emotions he couldn't quite place. The Straw Hats, Franky, Robin... everyone was putting their lives on the line for something bigger than themselves.
"What about me?" Jiro thought bitterly. "I've just been tagging along, barely surviving. What do I have to offer?"
He clenched his fists, the flame inside of him is raging but still can't break out.
"No," he told himself. "I'm done just surviving. If they can bet everything, so can I."
Spandam, furious, shoved Franky over the balcony. Before Franky could plummet into the waterfall below, Kokoro's voice crackled over the transponder snail (den den mushi).
"Straw Hats! Jump into the waterfall! Trust me!"
Luffy grinned. "You heard her! Let's go!"
"Wait, WHAT?!" Jiro yelled, his voice cracking.
Before he could protest, Luffy grabbed him by the back of his shirt and leaped off the edge, dragging the rest of the crew with him. The freefall was dizzying, and Jiro's stomach lurched as they plummeted toward the roaring water below.
"AHHHH!!!! I DON'T WANT TO DIE YET!!" Jiro screamed as he falls.
"AHHHHHHHH!!" Zoro's eye widened as he was drag down by Luffy.
"AHHHH!! NO!!" Nami, chopper and sogeking (usopp) as they got pull down by Luffy.
"Nishishishi" Luffy grinned as he pulled them down.
As they are about to fall in the sea, they heard a deafening roar. It's the Rocketman burst through the waterfall, catching the crew on its front before hurtling toward the Tower of Justice.
Jiro clung to the train for dear life, his heart pounding. "These guys are insane... Do they even care about staying alive?" he muttered.
The Rocketman slammed into the Tower of Justice with a resounding crash, sending debris flying. Spandam, who had been dragging Robin toward the Gates of Justice, froze in shock.
"No… no, no, NO!" Spandam screamed, his face turning red with rage. "CP9! Kill them all! Leave no one alive!"
"Your orders are clear" Lucci said calmly.
Rob Lucci stepped forward, his cold gaze locking onto the Straw Hats.
"Straw Hat," he said with chilling calm, "your journey ends here."
His movements calm yet predatory. His piercing eyes scanned the intruders, cold and calculating. As his aura began to shift, the air grew heavy with killing intent. Jiro felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end.
Luffy lunged at him "You're not stopping me! Robin's coming back with us!"
Zoro drew his swords, his gaze fixed on Kaku, who grinned at him, his giraffe form towering over the swordsman. "Let's see if you can handle my Rankyaku now, swordsman!".
Chopper transformed into his Arm Point.
Sanji lit up his cigarette.
Franky clashed with Fukurou.
Nami activate her clima-tact.
As chaos erupted around him, Jiro stood frozen, his eyes darting between the Straw Hats as they launched into battle against CP9.
"This... is insane..." Jiro muttered, his voice barely audible during the strawhats battle. He watched as Luffy and Lucci's clash sent shockwaves through the tower, as Zoro's blades danced against Kaku's strikes, and as Sanji weaved around Kalifa's electrified attacks with fluid grace.
The air was thick with tension, the roar of explosions and the clash of weapons filling his ears. The smell of smoke and burning wood stung his nose, and the heat of the flames felt by his skin.
"This is it," he thought. "If I don't step up now, I'll never forgive myself."
He took a deep breath, feeling the faint flicker of fire stir within him.
"Luffy, Robin, everyone… I'll protect you, as that's what my heart tells me to do." Jiro whispered, his voice trembling but resolute.
