Chapter 3: Wolf!
Returning on the carriage, Jackson excitedly said, "Keep it neat, Rein! This time, your authority is standing tall!"
Looking at Reinhardt's calm expression, Jackson felt even more satisfied.
The old Patriarch, this youngest son of yours, seems to have not been an obedient student during his years overseas.
"But still, you were a bit too lenient," Jackson added. "That Brad is full of ambition. When the old Patriarch was alive, he could suppress him, but now, even if he temporarily yields, he won't give up his plans."
"You should have killed him."
Reinhardt simply smiled and said, "I can deal with him whenever necessary. Today is my father's funeral; let's not shed blood."
"You're the Patriarch; it's your decision. However, I fear he might lash out in desperation."
"A dog cornered is still just a dog, isn't it?" Reinhardt said gently.
Jackson chuckled, pleased with the response. "Exactly. For someone as capable as you, Rein, people like me and Brad are really insignificant."
Loguetown, although an important checkpoint in East Blue leading to the Grand Line, was still ultimately part of East Blue.
And East Blue is the weakest of all the seas in the world. Its highest bounty was 20 million for Arlong the fishman. Anyone with even slightly above-average strength could dominate here.
"But Rein, you've changed so much over these five years," Jackson remarked with a sigh. "You used to be a quiet, reserved boy, and now you're a powerful figure I can't even keep up with. Where exactly did you go?"
"Grand Line," Reinhardt replied.
"I figured as much," Jackson nodded knowingly.
Only by seeing a broader world can one truly grow. And there's no sea more fascinating than the Grand Line, is there?
To become stronger, Reinhardt naturally wouldn't stay in East Blue.
Over three years ago, he had already ventured into the Grand Line.
His Devil Fruit was also found in the Grand Line.
Reinhardt possessed the Devil Fruit called the "Psychokinesis Fruit."
It's one of those generic, overused superpower abilities often seen in major works—a form of telekinesis.
It transforms one's mental energy into tangible force.
Though generic, it doesn't mean it's not powerful.
Quite the opposite—Reinhardt's psychokinesis was an exceptionally versatile ability.
Although its strength wasn't fully realized yet, it could roughly be compared to Tatsumaki from *One Punch Man.*
After awakening the Achievement System, Reinhardt's psychokinesis reached a milestone. It became the most dazzling star in his mental constellation.
**(Scepter of the Mind)**
*(Where the Scepter of the Mind falls, that land is yours.)*
*(Your mental strength will receive immense enhancement.)*
It's a simple yet effective power, perfectly suited for Reinhardt.
While chatting with Jackson in the carriage and learning about the family's recent situation, Reinhardt suddenly seemed to sense something and turned slightly.
"What is it, Rein?" Jackson asked, noticing his movement.
Reinhardt smiled. "It seems we've encountered a minor inconvenience."
About a few moments later, the smooth progress of the carriage abruptly halted. Then, the sealed carriage door was pulled open, and a family member stuck half his head inside, urgently saying:
"Patriarch, Uncle Jackson, it's Black Claw!"
At the Loguetown Naval Base.
A Marine soldier burst into the captain's office in a hurry.
"Captain Francklin! Black Claw is on the move! Wolf is personally leading them! They've intercepted Ulysses-Reinhardt! A conflict might break out!"
"Damn it, can't those rats let me have one peaceful day?"
Behind the spacious work desk, the tall man stood up, casually crushing the cigar in his hand. He grabbed the long blade resting to the side and said,
"Gather the men. Let's go teach these rotten rats some reason!"
Black Claw was an underground force that had risen in recent years in Loguetown. Its leader, Bloodaxe Wolf, was a powerful and ruthless individual.
For years, they had engaged in both overt and covert conflicts with the Ulysses family, a long-established underworld giant in Loguetown.
This was what Jackson had just explained to Reinhardt in the carriage.
While Jackson spoke with a serious expression, Reinhardt listened with a smile the entire time.
Interesting. Even in the "town of beginnings and endings," Loguetown, there were such disputes. The world was indeed far more expansive than depicted in the original manga.
From the protagonist's perspective, one could only see a fraction of the world.
Reinhardt leaned out of the carriage. Outside, a family member immediately raised an umbrella to shield him from the rain.
Ahead, on the street, a group of colorfully dressed individuals had blocked their path.
Leading them was a burly man carrying a double-edged battle axe on his shoulder. Standing nearly four meters tall, his rain-soaked clothes clung to his body, highlighting rippling muscles. Clearly, he was no ordinary person.
"That's Bloodaxe Wolf," Jackson said with some trepidation. "Be careful, Rein. They're not here for anything good."
"Hahaha! The funeral is over, huh?"
Wolf stepped forward, his booming laughter matching his imposing presence. "Which one of you is the new boss? Come out and let me have a look!"
The members of the Ulysses family erupted in anger.
"Wolf! Watch your arrogant mouth! Do you know who you're speaking to?"
"Are you declaring war on us, Black Claw?"
"If you value your life, get lost now! Do you think you can meet the Godfather whenever you want?"
Wolf sneered. "Oh? So, you want to fight?"
Under the cautious gazes of the Ulysses members, Wolf swung the massive axe off his shoulder and smashed it into the ground. The hard stone pavement cracked instantly, leaving deep fissures.
"Anyone who wants to challenge me, step forward!"
The Ulysses family's momentum faltered immediately.
Everyone knew that Black Claw's rise among the chaotic underground forces of Loguetown was due to the overwhelming strength of its leader, Wolf.
Even Red Ogre Jackson, the strongest member of the Ulysses family, was no match for him.
"Hahaha, is this the so-called mighty Ulysses family? Loguetown's strongest family is just this?"
"A bunch of weaklings. They're no match for our boss, Wolf!"
"If you ask me, the Ulysses family should just surrender and let our boss become your new Patriarch!"
The Black Claw thugs burst into mocking laughter.
"Wolf, isn't it?"
A calm voice rang out as Reinhardt stepped forward, with Jackson and the family officers following behind him.
Wolf scrutinized Reinhardt from head to toe with a strange expression before breaking into a bizarre laugh.
"Oh? So, this is the new Patriarch of the Ulysses family? Hahaha, I've heard of you. The youngest son of that dead old man, right? What's the matter? Got bored playing out on the sea and came back to hide in your little hut?"
He glanced at the group of officers behind Reinhardt and laughed loudly. "And all of you useless lot plan to back this wet-behind-the-ears brat? This is killing me!"
The Ulysses officers flushed with anger, itching to charge at Wolf, but they held back.
Because their leader, their family's Patriarch, hadn't said anything yet.
"Haha, obedient, aren't you? So, you're really planning to serve as this brat's lapdogs?"
Wolf roared with laughter, turning his attention to Reinhardt. "Hey, kid, your dogs won't speak. Aren't you going to say something as their master?"
Reinhardt, however, maintained his calm smile, entirely unbothered. "I've heard that the most meaningless thing in the world is speaking to people who hold no value."
"What?"
