Chapter 22: RBTC: Chapter 22
---
Buggy approached Weevil with a feigned surprise, loudly exclaiming, "Weevil, my cousin! What are you doing here? What happened to Aunt Bakkin? Why are you holding her?"
Weevil, listening to Buggy's words, looked confused, his silly face showing a hint of bewilderment. He didn't understand what Buggy was saying.
"It's me, your cousin, Buggy! I held you as a baby, gave you candy, and I know your father is Whitebeard."
To make Weevil believe his identity, Buggy fabricated some stories and mentioned the fact that Whitebeard was his father, something Weevil always remembered.
"Cousin, what happened to Aunt Bakkin?" Buggy's face instantly revealed concern, and he looked at Weevil with sincerity.
"Cousin, Mom was murdered."
With Weevil's limited intelligence, after Buggy's string of lies, he accepted Buggy's identity. After all, Buggy had mentioned that Whitebeard was his father, a fact he always remembered.
"Who? What damn bastard killed Aunt Bakkin? Tell your cousin. I'm going to kill them all!"
Buggy's face was filled with anger, and tears welled up in his eyes as he looked at Bakkin's body.
"Cousin, I killed them all. Don't cry."
Weevil seemed to be moved by Buggy's genuine emotion. He even reached out a hand to wipe away Buggy's tears.
Buggy let him wipe his tears. After a while, Buggy calmed down and said, "Cousin, let's bury Aunt Bakkin. If we don't, she won't rest in peace."
These words were clearly beyond Weevil's comprehension. He didn't understand them. Bakkin hadn't taught him about this.
Buggy knew Weevil didn't understand. He explained that it was a custom, that after a person died, they had to be buried so they could rest peacefully.
Weevil listened with a confused expression, but he understood that people had to be buried after they died.
Everything that followed was handled by Buggy. He found a place and personally buried Bakkin.
After everything was done, Buggy and Weevil's relationship became even closer. Weevil kept calling him "cousin."
The three of them found another restaurant. Buggy ordered a lot of food. As they ate, they talked. Buggy decided to reveal his purpose. Looking at Weevil, Buggy said, "Weevil, you should follow your cousin from now on. I'm not comfortable with you being alone. Follow your cousin. As long as I have something to eat, you won't go hungry."
"Okay, cousin. Mom's gone. I'll follow you from now on." Weevil said, eating and giving Buggy the answer he wanted to hear.
Weevil thought that since Bakkin was gone, it was right to follow his cousin.
The three of them ate and drank their fill and left the restaurant. They returned to the Glory. When Daddy Masterson saw Weevil arrive, he pretended nothing had happened and greeted Weevil warmly.
Buggy introduced Weevil to everyone, saying he was his cousin and would be a member of the crew from now on. That's how Weevil officially joined.
The next step was to find the last person in the West Blue, the genius surgeon, Hogback.
He was easy to find. His reputation had spread throughout the West Blue. It was easy to find out where he was.
Buggy had originally planned to find him second, but he had unexpectedly learned about Weevil. To prevent any accidents, he had come to find Weevil first. After all, Hogback couldn't easily leave the West Blue.
A few days later, they arrived in the capital of Illysia, Bax, where Hogback was located.
Bax, as the capital of Illysia, was several times grander than Mori City, which Buggy and his crew had passed through earlier. From a distance, they could see Bax, like a giant, in the distance.
This time, everyone on board could disembark. Buggy wanted them to see the world and experience the different scenery of the West Blue. So, he found a dock specifically for individual ships. It cost a hefty sum of berries, but it was worth it. Since they were sailing together, how could he let them miss the scenery along the way because of the ship?
He gave everyone some berries, and they headed towards the city.
Bax had a similar architectural style to Mori City, but it also had its own unique charm. Towering trees could be seen everywhere in the city, as well as many flowers and plants. Colorful ribbons fluttered everywhere on the trees and flowers, creating an overall scene that was like a fairytale forest kingdom.
The pedestrians on the road all had smiles on their faces. It was clear that they were living well. The commercial atmosphere was very prosperous. Shops lined the streets, and street vendors were neatly distributed in every corner. The scene was one of prosperity and a thriving economy.
When they reached the main street of the city, Buggy didn't rush to find Hogback. Instead, he told everyone to go for a walk.
Of course, Kuro was the happiest to hear this. After all, he was the youngest. Hearing that he could go for a walk, he was very happy. After saying this, he turned and ran away.
After Kuro left, Daddy Masterson and Lafitte also went their separate ways on the street. They also needed to go for a walk and see if there was anything they needed.
Buggy arranged for Weevil to go with Lafitte. He was afraid that Weevil would get lost if he went alone.
Buggy found a bench under a giant tree and sat down alone.
He wasn't planning to go for a walk. This kind of scenery didn't appeal to him much. He didn't need anything right now. There was no need to wander around in the crowded streets.
Buggy sat on the bench, closed his eyes, and quietly savored the sweet air and the taste of nature.
In this leisurely time, Buggy suddenly heard a commotion and a faint sound of a woman crying.
The peaceful environment was broken. Buggy opened his eyes and looked towards the source of the sound.
Buggy saw a woman holding a child, being pulled by an old woman and several burly men. The woman was overwhelmed by what was happening. Tears streamed down her face, and she kept crying.
The old woman didn't look like a good person. She was very arrogant, constantly pulling the woman and the child in her arms, and shouting loudly.
The burly men surrounded the area, blocking all the woman's escape routes. A crowd of spectators gathered around them, pointing and watching what was happening. No one stepped forward to help the helpless crying woman.
Looking at this scene, Buggy realized that something was wrong. It was very similar to the scenes of women and children being kidnapped that he had seen on TV in his previous life.
Seeing that the old woman was about to grab the child in the woman's arms, and that the crowd around them was completely indifferent, Buggy knew he couldn't stand by and watch. Otherwise, the mother and child might be separated forever.
Buggy immediately left the bench and walked towards the crowd.
