One Piece: The Deadly

Chapter 71: The Gift Of Surprises

The mood aboard the Thousand Sunny was warm and lively, even though the ship was surrounded by the cold, snow-covered sea. Christmas was in full swing, and the crew was about to exchange gifts in a festive, chaotic manner that only the Straw Hats could bring. It wasn't often they took time to relax, but today, there was no fight to be had or treasure to chase—only laughter, love, and an abundance of presents.

Nami had carefully organized the event, as was typical of her. The tree was decorated, the snow outside was coming down in perfect flakes, and everyone had gathered in the main room of the Sunny, eager to see what their crewmates had gotten for them. "Alright, let's get this started!" Nami said, rubbing her hands together in anticipation. "But first, I think we should have Kikidori and Ere'ana go first!"

Everyone immediately nodded, even Zoro who was still rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. The crew had long known that Kikidori and Ere'ana had a special bond, one that had only grown stronger since the events on the ship. Even Robin, who often stayed out of the personal matters of others, could see the way their eyes lit up when they looked at each other.

Kikidori nervously scratched the back of his head as he held out a small, beautifully wrapped box to Ere'ana. "Uh, here you go, Ere'ana," he said, his voice cracking just slightly from the excitement. She smiled sweetly at him, her eyes sparkling with warmth. She gingerly unwrapped the box and gasped in surprise when she saw the necklace inside. It was elegant, simple, yet beautiful—a delicate silver chain with a pendant shaped like a crescent moon, shimmering faintly in the light.

Ere'ana blinked at the gift in awe. "Kikidori... it's gorgeous," she said, clearly touched. "I... I don't know what to say."

Kikidori grinned sheepishly. "I'm glad you like it," he replied, though he was slightly embarrassed. "I thought it would look good on you, so I wanted to get you something special."

Ere'ana hugged him tightly. "Thank you so much, Kikidori," she whispered, and for a moment, it seemed like the rest of the crew was completely forgotten as they stood wrapped in each other's embrace.

But there was one more gift exchange to go, and Kikidori had his turn. Ere'ana handed him a small, unassuming envelope, her eyes twinkling mischievously. "This is for you, Kikidori," she said softly, her voice warm yet teasing.

Kikidori frowned slightly, looking at the envelope. "Uh, what's this?" he asked. "No box or anything? I thought gifts had to come in boxes."

Ere'ana raised an eyebrow playfully. "I know you're not a fan of big fancy things," she said, "so I thought this would suit you better. Just... read it in your head, okay? Don't read it out loud."

Kikidori raised an eyebrow at her. "Weird request, but okay." He ripped open the envelope and unfolded the letter inside, his heart beating a little faster as he looked at the contents.

He read it silently, feeling his breath catch in his throat as his eyes scanned the words. The letter was simple, with just a few sentences. But those sentences changed everything.

*"Kikidori, I'm pregnant. We're going to have a baby."*

Kikidori blinked rapidly, feeling the world around him shift, his body growing tense. He re-read the note just to make sure he hadn't misinterpreted it. And then it hit him all at once.

*Pregnant?*

His mind raced. Ere'ana was pregnant... With his child. The realization hit him like a bolt of lightning, and he nearly dropped the note in shock. His face went pale as his mind struggled to process the words he'd just read. He turned to look at Ere'ana, his eyes wide with surprise and a mix of confusion. He wanted to say something, but he couldn't find the words.

Ere'ana looked at him with a small smile, though there was a hint of nervousness in her expression as well. "I know it's a lot to take in... but I wanted you to know before anyone else did," she said softly.

For a long moment, there was silence. Kikidori's heart was pounding in his chest, and he just stood there, his mind swirling. Then, he finally managed to blurt out, "Wait, does Chopper know about this?"

Ere'ana chuckled softly. "He's the one who told me. You think I could keep something like this from the doctor?"

Kikidori's hands were shaking, but he quickly reached for Ere'ana, pulling her into a tight embrace. "This... this is a lot to process," he muttered. "A baby... we're going to be parents?"

Ere'ana smiled, leaning her head against his chest. "Yeah. We are."

It wasn't until the crew began to stir that Kikidori snapped back to reality. He looked around and realized everyone had been watching. His face turned bright red, and he quickly cleared his throat. "Uh, okay! Uh, moving on!" he said awkwardly, still feeling the weight of what had just been revealed to him. The rest of the crew was silent for a moment before they all erupted into loud cheers.

"WHAT?!" Usopp shouted, unable to contain his excitement. "A baby? A STRAW HAT BABY?"

"Congratulations, you two!" Nami shouted with a teasing grin. "A little bundle of chaos is coming your way!"

Sanji grinned, his face lit up with a mischievous gleam. "A baby, huh? I'll start looking up baby food recipes right away!"

Luffy, of course, was more focused on the meat that was nearby, but he gave a thumbs up and said, "Congrats, Kikidori! You're gonna be a great dad!"

Kikidori flushed even more, clearly embarrassed, but Ere'ana simply gave him a soft, reassuring smile.

"Alright, alright!" Nami interrupted the raucous celebrations. "Let's keep going! It's present time, people!"

The crew then moved on to exchanging more gifts, and despite the shocking revelation, the atmosphere lightened as everyone started giving their presents to one another.

Nami, of course, had a special gift for Sanji. She presented him with a small box, and when he opened it, his eyes went wide in surprise. Inside was a beautiful handkerchief embroidered with intricate patterns—something personal for him. But before he could even thank her, Nami leaned in with a sly smile and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek.

Sanji, overwhelmed, immediately fainted to the ground, a massive nosebleed shooting from his nose, staining the pristine white snow with a splash of red. "Nami, you—!" he gasped, still reeling from the kiss.

Kikidori couldn't help but laugh at the scene, even though he was still processing his own shock. It wasn't long before Luffy took over the chaos again, happily giving everyone meat. "Here's my gift to you all!" he shouted joyously. "Meat for everyone!"

The Straw Hats laughed, their spirits high and full of energy, as Christmas continued on aboard the Thousand Sunny. It was a day of celebration, of love, and unexpected surprises that none of them would soon forget.
