Outlaws With Limits

Dante took a deep breath immediately after Elysia fell to the ground. The last leader of the Brotherhood of Shadows would perish, just like the others whose headquarters had been destroyed. But at that moment, something unexpected happened. With a sudden movement, Elysia grabbed her fallen shield and stood up quickly.

Dante realised she was still alive, but this time something had changed. Elysia's eyes shone with a blank, dark sadness. "Have you come to kill me?" she whispered. "Do you think you're going to make it?"

Dante approached and levelled his weapons. "It's over, Elysia. The Brotherhood of Shadows is finished. There's no point in resisting."

But Elysia, in an unexpected move, charged towards Dante. With a swift swing of her shield, she knocked their pistols out of their hands. Dante was forced to take a few steps back.

"I don't want another battle with you," Elysia said under her breath. "But there's still something I can do."

Elysia took a step back, a trace of judgement in her eyes, and Dante watched her, dumbfounded. The woman quickly disappeared into the surrounding darkness. "This is only the beginning, Dante. You cannot completely destroy the Brotherhood of Shadows," she said one last time before disappearing into the darkness.

Dante took another step back as he placed his weapons back into his waistband. "Elysia..." he whispered, but she had already disappeared.

Kaelene moved towards Dante with the rest of the group. ""What happened? You could have killed her."

Dante was silent for a moment, his head bowed. "No. Ending his life could lead to the rebirth of the Brotherhood of Shadows. We need to go after her."

Ryker picked up a message on his headphones and turned to Dante, his eyes darkening, and said, "Dante, something's not right. Even with Elysia on the run, the Brotherhood of Shadows still has power. Our target is not just Elysia, but the rest of the organisation."

Dante thought for a moment. Then he looked at his team and said decisively: "Yes, that's right. We must completely eradicate the Brotherhood of Shadows. But first, we must track down Elysia."

The group began to move away from the ruins of the ruined headquarters and towards a new destination. Inside Dante, he sensed that something was hidden behind Elysia's escape. Darkness still lurked around every corner, and new dangers loomed at every step.

As Dante walked away from the ruins of the headquarters with his team, his mind was filled with Elysia's last words. "This is only the beginning..." he muttered to himself. Kaelene noticed his thoughtfulness.

"What's the plan, Dante?" Kaelene asked. "We let Elysia escape, now how do we find her?"

Dante fixed his eyes on a point on the horizon. "She can't be the last of the Brotherhood of Shadows. If I know anything, it's that Elysia has a bigger plan than we thought. First we need to track her down."Ryker, are you picking up any remaining activity in the area?"

Ryker opened his laptop terminal and ran a quick data scan. "Yeah, there are a few tracks here.She must have picked a direction when he fled. I've got a vehicle track heading west, there's an old factory there. That's probably where he's heading."

Kaelene turned to Dante and asked, "What if it's a trap?"

Dante replied coolly. "Even if it is, we can't let her get away. We have to find her and stop her."

The Old Factory

Night had fallen and the area around the factory was plunged into darkness. The rusty walls and broken windows of the factory resembled a place long abandoned. But there was definitely activity inside.

Dante and his team quietly surrounded the factory. Kaelene approached the door, sword drawn, while Ryker set up his sniper rifle on a hill. Dante pulled out his pistols and moved slowly towards the entrance.

"There are at least four people inside," Ryker said through his earpiece. "I'm not sure Elysia's in there, but these people seem to be hiding something."

Dante gestured to Kaelene. "Let's keep it quiet. Let's check inside first. If there's a problem, we'll attack."

Kaelene quietly opened the door and the two of them walked in. Inside, a group of men were sitting around a table. On the table were old maps, radio equipment and a large safe.

Dante approached the table and pointed his gun at one of the men. "Where's Elysia?" he asked coldly.The men stood up in surprise, but before they could draw their weapons, Kaelene plunged her sword into the table. "Answer his question," she said in a threatening voice.

One man raised his hands and spoke. "We don't know! We're just taking instructions! Elysia sent us here, but she's gone somewhere else!"

Dante leaned over the man. "Tell me where she went."

The man hesitated, but when he met Kaelene's cold gaze, he spoke. "He moved east. There's a mountain base... There's another group of former members of the Brotherhood of Shadows there. I think he's planning something there."

Dante let the man go and turned to his team. "Then we're not stopping. We're heading east."

New Threat

After leaving the factory, the team quickly got into their vehicles and set off. The mountain base to the east was once known as the most powerful stronghold of the Brotherhood of Shadows. The fact that Elysia had travelled there showed that she still had great support and resources.

Kaelene broke the silence as they travelled down the road. "What could Elysia's plan be? Does she want to resurrect the Brotherhood of Shadows?"

Dante answered thoughtfully along the way. "The Brotherhood of Shadows was meant to create chaos. But Elysia seems to have a different motivation. We need to find something about her past. The battle will not only be physical, but mental."
