Chapter 16: 16. This Wave Will Win Directly
Evan's senior breeder assessment went very smoothly.
In the final stage, Evan was fortunate enough to encounter a Psychic-type Pokémon.
Psychic Pokémon...
If Evan becomes a trainer and specializes in Psychic-types, it wouldn't be difficult for him to become a master trainer.
After all, he possesses powerful Psychic abilities himself.
Whenever any Psychic-type Pokémon senses Evan's strong Psychic power, they gaze at him with admiration, much like Sophia's Ralts.
He could instantly connect with others, turning them into trusted companions, like siblings.
It was precisely because of this that the Alakazam Evan treated was very cooperative.
The Alakazam even wanted to follow Evan.
This left the examiners in awe.
It was the first time they had witnessed such a thing.
Only Professor Ethan remained calm.
After all, this was a common occurrence back when Evan was in school.
The university had special Pokémon for students to battle.
Whenever Evan visited the Pokémon park to select a Pokémon, the Psychic-types would swarm around him like fans around their idol.
They would gather eagerly, hoping to win Evan's favor.
So, seeing this situation didn't surprise Professor Ethan.
Evan truly has a unique appeal to Psychic-type Pokémon.
This time, Evan succeeded effortlessly.
...
Obtaining the senior breeder's certificate meant that Evan was now qualified to open a breeding house.
As Evan exited the examination room, Professor Ethan approached him directly.
At the same time, he handed Evan a piece of paper.
"The business license you requested."
"Evan, how can I assist you?"
"Shall I help you acquire a batch of Pokémon eggs?"
He asked Evan with curiosity.
The business of a breeding house typically involves selling starter Pokémon and providing care for others' Pokémon.
It's similar to running a pet care center.
There are plenty of breeding houses these days, but most are small, mainly focused on caring for Pokémon.
Selling starter Pokémon is usually limited to large or medium-sized breeding houses.
After all, each Pokémon is worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
If it's one of the traditional starters, the price would be even higher.
At the lower end, they still cost tens of thousands.
Of course, the Pokémon must have good genes to fetch such prices.
Once a batch of Pokémon eggs is obtained and hatched, the breeder must select those suitable to become starter Pokémon.
Sometimes, there may not even be a suitable Pokémon in the batch.
This means there can be losses.
Most people can't afford such risks. Smaller breeding houses simply don't have the capital.
Upon hearing Professor Ethan's offer, Evan shook his head decisively.
"No, let's forget about raising starter Pokémon for now."
"We'll discuss that later."
"For now, I'll focus on running the orchard and helping people take care of their Pokémon."
"We can talk about expanding the business down the road."
"However, I don't expect much business in the beginning."
"After all, it's hard for a new breeding house to attract customers right away."
"For now, I'll plant fruit trees first, then improve the facilities."
It's not possible to start business immediately.
Even after securing the land, it still needs to be developed.
So, for now, the plan is to plant the trees first.
Then renovate the surrounding area.
Seeing that Evan had a clear plan, Professor Ethan stopped pushing.
"That's fine."
"If you need anything, just let me know."
"Some of your seniors also run breeding houses."
"Others specialize in hatching eggs. If necessary, I can connect you with them."
Evan nodded in agreement.
After chatting with Evan for a while, Professor Ethan got busy.
As for Evan, he decided it was time to head back.
Before returning, Evan went to the supermarket and bought a lot of supplies.
Now that he had some money, Evan wasn't going to skimp on the kids at the orphanage. He bought plenty of snacks, clothes, and toys—making sure everyone would get something.
After purchasing everything, Evan hired a truck driver to help deliver the goods to the orphanage.
Next, Evan went to pick up some Poké Balls. These were for capturing Pokémon to help him manage the orchard. Rather than hiring people, Evan preferred Pokémon for the job. Sometimes, Pokémon were far more reliable than humans.
After running these errands, Evan headed back.
When he arrived at the orphanage, Evan released Pichu from its Poké Ball.
As soon as Pichu was free, it started complaining to Evan.
It really didn't like being stuck inside the Poké Ball.
"Pichu, pichu~~!"
Grumbling in Evan's ear, Pichu expressed its displeasure. But even though Evan understood, he simply chose to ignore the fuss.
By the time Evan returned, the truck driver had already arrived and unloaded everything.
Seeing this, Evan quickly went over and paid the driver.
A group of excited kids gathered around, thrilled with the gifts Evan had brought.
"Brother Evan!"
"Did you make some money?"
"Buying all this stuff must have cost a lot, right?"
"Evan Brother!"
Before long, Evan was surrounded by the eager children.
Watching their happy faces, Evan couldn't help but smile.
He picked up a small girl and said, "It's all set."
"Once the land deed arrives tomorrow, the mountain behind the orphanage will be ours."
"When that happens, I'll turn it into a big orchard."
"And you all have to help, okay?"
Hearing this, the kids got even more excited.
The whole mountain would be theirs to explore and play on.
Evan handed Pichu over to the group of children, letting them play together, while he went back to his room to start planning.
Since he was going to open a breeding house, there were a lot of things that needed to be done.
Now that he had the funds, he planned to demolish and rebuild the orphanage.
It needed a full renovation, so Evan figured he might as well make it even better.
Once in his room, Evan pulled out a map and started studying it.
The orphanage was located in the suburbs, with quite a few residents nearby.
Looking at the map, Evan considered the open space behind the orphanage, near the orchard.
"The breeding house will be built here," Evan decided.
"It'll be perfectly separated from the orphanage."
With that, he took out some paper and began sketching ideas.
For the mountain behind the orphanage, he planned to build something to enclose the area.
There was already some basic infrastructure, so it just needed improvement. A simple fence with barbed wire would do the job, and he'd assign some Pokémon to guard it.
As for the Pokémon he'd use, Evan planned to go out soon and catch them himself—using his own skills in combat to capture them!
