This Pidgeot, which had once defeated Evan in his youth, was certainly no weak opponent.
According to Evan's estimation, it was likely at an elite level, while Shiny Pidgeot's strength had reached the advanced level.
Shiny Pidgeot was significantly faster than Pidgeot.
Under Evan's command, Shiny Pidgeot launched hit-and-run tactics against the leader Pidgeot.
It was incredibly difficult for Pidgeot to keep up with Shiny Pidgeot .
Not only that, but even when it tried to land attacks, Shiny Pidgeot, guided by Evan's commands, dodged them all.
This left the opponent frustrated.
It couldn't land a hit, nor could it get close.
Meanwhile, Shiny Pidgeot's attacks occasionally landed on the leader.
The leader of Pidgeot dodged another Air Slash and glanced in Evan's direction, seeming confused.
But just then, Evan shouted, "Now, Hurricane!"
You're looking at me? How could you look away during a battle?
Isn't that a gift? It's like answering a call during a team battle in a game!
Seizing the opportunity, Evan commanded Shiny Pidgeot to strike.
Following his instructions, Shiny Pidgeot launched its attack without hesitation.
With a powerful flap of its wings, strong winds tore across the field.
The gust hit Pidgeot directly.
Caught off guard, the leader was hit and crashed hard to the ground from midair.
"The final blow, Hyper Beam!" Evan called out.
At his command, Shiny Pidgeot opened its beak and cried out.
"Pidgeot!!"
Golden light began to gather, condensing into a sphere.
In the next moment, Shiny Pidgeot released it.
A thick golden beam shot down from the sky, striking the leader Pidgeot directly.
*Boom!*
A massive explosion echoed through the forest.
Back at the orphanage, Sophia and the others heard the blast.
They all turned toward the sound.
Sophia frowned. "What is Senior Evan up to? Why has a fight started?"
Puzzled, she hesitated before turning to her Garchomp.
"Garchomp, let's head over there. If Senior Evan is in danger, please help."
Garchomp nodded at her words.
"Garchomp!" it called out before moving away from the group of kids. It took to the skies, flying toward the back mountain.
By the time it arrived, however, the battle was already over.
At this moment, Evan looked down at the defeated leader of Pidgeot with a satisfied expression.
Finally, his long-held grudge was settled, and he felt a deep sense of relief.
"Very good," he said with a smile. "Now we can have a proper talk."
Just as Evan finished speaking, Garchomp arrived on the scene.
Seeing Garchomp, Evan waved and called out, "It's all clear here. You can head back."
It was obvious that Sophia had sent it over to check on him.
Garchomp surveyed the situation below and, after confirming everything was fine, turned back to return to the orphanage.
The leader Pidgeot lay on the ground, unable to move.
After taking a direct hit from Hyper Beam, it had completely lost its fighting ability.
But it hadn't fainted.
The Pokémon in this world are remarkable; no matter how intense their battles are, they rarely suffer fatal injuries.
It's as if some magical power protects them from being mortally wounded, ensuring they don't perish from combat alone—unless they go without necessary treatment.
It's almost like there's a force preventing Pokémon from dying outright, though they can still sustain serious damage.
Of course, Pokémon still battle fiercely, as rivalries between certain species are deeply ingrained, almost as if written into their DNA.
Shiny Pidgeot then descended to the ground next to Pidgeot, looking quite pleased with itself.
Its heart swelled with pride.
This human really knew what he was doing—his battle strategy might have been intense, but his skill in commanding was unmatched.
Now that Shiny Pidgeot had triumphed over Pidgeot, could this mean it was destined to become the new leader of this flock?
Thinking of this, Shiny Pidgeot felt a surge of excitement.
Could it finally be reaching the pinnacle of its life, surrounded by loyal Pidgeys and living the high life?
This was truly wonderful.
At that moment, Evan spoke up confidently.
"From now on, this mountain will be mine," he declared. "I'm planning to turn it into an orchard."
He continued, "When the time comes, some Flying-type Pokémon might show up here. I'll need you to lead your tribe to drive them away."
"Of course, there will be rewards. I'll provide food for your whole flock, so you can all live comfortably—no more hunting Caterpie or anything like that."
He added with a smirk, "Although, I'm not even sure you'd have much luck hunting Caterpie without getting a little roughed up."
Evan glanced around. Apart from one Pidgeot, the whole flock was made up of Pidgey. Compared to other groups, they seemed a bit underpowered, as if this flock had only recently formed.
And the leader, the same Pidgeot that had once beaten him as a child, had now become the head of the group.
The leader Pidgeot slowly got to its feet.
"Pidg-eot!" it squawked, accepting the offer without resistance but feeling a bit disheartened. It knew it was now under the command of the boy who'd tried to conquer it years ago. And since Shiny Pidgeot had defeated it, Shiny Pidgeot was technically the new leader.
"Pidgeot!" It gave Evan an expectant look, as if urging him to hurry up and capture it in a Poké Ball.
Evan's face showed surprise. "Did you misunderstand something?" he asked. "Why would I capture you?"
Pointing at Shiny Pidgeot, he continued, "This is the one I want to catch."
"Pidge?" Shiny Pidgeot, who had been dreaming of a life surrounded by admiring Pidgey, froze in shock. It turned its head stiffly toward Evan, bewildered.
What was going on?
Even the leader Pidgeot was stunned. *Wait, you don't want to capture me?*
The leader stared at Evan, confusion clear on its face. Wasn't this the same kid who had tried to capture it long ago? Now he seemed… disinterested?
Seeing the dumbfounded look on the leader's face, Evan couldn't help but chuckle.
"What's wrong?" he teased. "Is there a problem? You're still the leader of the Pidgey clan. We're practically old friends here. I'm sure you wouldn't mind if I just take Shiny Pidgeot off your talons."
With that, Evan shot Shiny Pidgeot a warm look.
Shiny Pidgeot, noticing Evan's gaze, panicked and took a step back.
"Pidge-Pidge!" it cried, starting to freak out.
Was its fantasy life over before it had even begun?
Could it say no?
