Chapter 188: Chapter 44: The Psychic Sidekicks!
Mew and her friends continue their journey through the Johto Region to Goldenrod City, but unknown that they're about to be overshadowed by something spooky.
Soon, Mew spots something and walks up to see a sign, "Hey, it's some kind of Trainer's Tip."
"Trainer's tip?" Misty questions.
Tomo looks at the sign and reads, "Beware of Ghost Pokémon."
And Jen reads, "Use Psychic Pokémon for your protection."
"Pika?" (Psychic Pokemon?) Pikachu questions.
Misty looks around, "Must get scary around here with all those ghost Pokémon."
"It doesn't look too scary to me," Brock says.
Suddenly, three Fearow fly over the canopy of the trees, causing the group to freak out.
Brock freaks out, "You know, guys. I kinda wish we did have a Psychic Pokémon."
"Uh Brock, you remember that some of us actually do," Mew says.
Soon, Brock remembers, "You're right. And some of them can use Psychic attacks."
"Great idea, Mew," Tomo says, and brings out his Pokeball, "And I know a good one. Go Girafarig. Slowpoke."
Soon, Girafarig and Galarian Slowpoke come out of the Pokeball.
"I'll get mine out," Mew says, and calls out, "Alakazam, Drowzee, Elgyem."
And the three Pokemon are called out.
Jen calls out, "Come on out, Hatenna."
And Hatenna comes out of the Pokeball.
"Well, I'll call Psyduck, maybe he can help," Misty says, and calls out Psyduck.
"We're counting on you, everyone. If you see any Ghost Pokémon, you're gonna use Psychic to send 'em away, okay?" Misty says.
Psyduck says, confused, "Psy?" (What Ghost Pokémon?)
"Let's hope, we don't see any," Misty says.
Suddenly, the group hears a rustling sound in the bushes, prompting everyone to turn their heads. And suddenly, a creature with a creepy face pops out of the bushes, scaring the group that they scream
Misty quickly picks up Psyduck, "Quick, Psyduck! It's a Ghost type! Use Confusion!"
"Psyduck?" (On that?) Psyduck questions, and stares at the creatures
Soon, Psyduck chickens out, "Psy...Psyduck." (No way, I'm outta here.)
Psyduck jumps out of Misty's arms and returns to his Pokeball.
Misty falls over in disbelief and shouts, "Hey!"
"Pichu Pichu," (Fraidy duck.) Pichu says.
And Togepi says, "Toge Toge Toge Toge Toge!" (He's more chicken than duck!)
"This doesn't look like any Gastly or Haunter I've ever seen before," Brock says.
"I'm not even sure if that is a Ghost Type," Mew says.
"Then what is it?" Molly asks.
Just then, Tomo's Girafarig approaches the creature and sniffs it a bit.
Girafarig turns to the other and neighs in reply saying, "It's not a Ghost Pokemon it's another Girafarig."
"Another Girafarig?" Tomo questions. "Are you sure?"
Tomo's Girafarig nods in reply.
Suddenly, a girl's voice says, "Your Girafarig's right."
Everyone turns to see a young girl with purple hair and purple eyes, and wears a pink dress with a maroon skirt.
"My Girafarig's definitely not a Ghost type," The girl says.
Everyone turns to see the Pokemon is revealed to be a Girafarig, startling the group a bit.
The girl giggles, "...Chill out."
The Girafarig says, "GERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR-AAAAAAAAAHHHHH! (Didn't mean to scare you.)
"It's cute," Molly says.
Mew brings out her Pokedex and shows it to Molly, "Here you go."
Dexter says, "Girafarig, the Long Neck Pokemon. A Normal and Psychic Type. Girafarig has a second head on its tail that fights those that approach it carelessly."
The girl smiles, "But it's friendly, too." and walks over to her Pokemon and petting its muzzle, "Isn't it beautiful?"
"Greeeeee," (Thank you.) Girafarig says.
Mew introduces herself, "I'm Mew, sorry we mistook you for a Ghost Pokemon, Girafarig."
"Grrrrring-grrrrring," (That's okay.) Girafarig says.
The girl introduces herself, "I'm Cherry, Girafarig's trainer, Nice to meet ya."
"My name's Brock," Brock introduces himself.
So does Misty, "And I'm Misty. Nice to meet you."
"Tomo's my name," Tomo says.
"I'm Jen," Jen says.
"And I'm Molly," Molly happily says.
The Pokemon happily says, (Pleased to meet you.)
"Nice to meet you. It's a good thing you all have Psychic Pokemon with you. It's dangerous in these woods without one," Cherry says.
"Yeah. It's good we do," Mew says.
And Brock says, "Misty has a Psyduck, but I'm not sure that it counts." Making misty laughs sheepishly.
Then Misty asks, "So, tell us, Cherry, why did you pick a Girafarig to train? Cause it looks so different?"
"Yeah. That's partly the reason," Cherry says, "It's an old tradition for everybody to have a Psychic Pokemon as a partner in the place I come from."
"Where's that?" Molly asks.
"Len Town, it's just up the road," Cherry says.
Brock looks up the guide book, "Len…" and finds the page, "Yeah, here it is, Len Town is well known because nearly every one of its inhabitants has a Psychic Pokemon."
Jen turns to Cherry and asks, "How come they all have Psychic Pokemon?
"We've had Ghost Pokémon living in the woods around here for hundreds of years. So we raise Psychic Pokemon to keep them from causing trouble...you know how Ghost-Types can be..." Cherry says.
Mew giggles, "I know. I have three specific Ghost Pokemon who like to cause mischief."
Unknown to Mew and her friends, and Cherry, they are being eavesdropped by Team Rocket, specifically by James.
"Interesting," Jessie says.
"Very. Turn the name Girafarig around..." James says.
And Meowth, "It's spelt da same backwards as forwards!"
"Not that! What she said about Psychic types," Jessie says.
Soon, Wobbuffet comes out and says, "WOBBBBBBB! BUFF-ET!" (That's my type!)
And Happiny appears, "Happiny Happiny," (I want to help too.)"
"I wasn't calling for you, I said Psychic, not psychotic," Jessie says.
"Wobbbbbb-uh!" (Sorry!) Wobbuffet says.
Then Jessie calls him back to the Pokeball
Jessie sighs, "This is... becoming a problem."
Then Jessie picks up Happiny, "Sorry sweetie, but I don't think you're quite ready to be on the Team Rocket battlefield. Back to your Pokeball you go." And calls Happiny back into her Pokeball.
Then Jessie says, "Come on, let's go!"
"Hmmm," James and Meowth say with a nod.
James then says, holding the headpiece, "That girl's hometown sounds like it's chock-full of Psychic Pokemon."
Meowth laughs, "So it don't take a mind-reader to know where we're headed!"
Dressed as an Abra, Jessie says, "Where there's a profusion of confusion."
"And teleport of every sort," Meowth says, dressed as an Exeggcute.
Dressed as a Drowze, James says, "Just thinking of catching all of those Psychic Pokemon is making me drowsy."
Out of the costume, Meowth says, "But dem Psychic Pokemon are pretty tricky! How are we supposed ta beat 'em?"
Jessie soon has a plan and brings out her compact make-up mirror, revealing the reflection of James and Meowth.
"With my secret weapon," Jessie says.
"Oooooohhhh!" James says, amazed.
Confused, Meowth says, "You're gonna put on more make-up?"
Meanwhile, Mew and the others are sitting down to a quick meal.
"That's my dream, too!" Cherry says, "I wanna be a Pokemon master and be the first trainer from my town to win the Johto League Championship."
"Cool," Mew says.
She then asks, "Any badges?"
"No, not yet," Cherry says, "I want to train as much as I can before I leave home and start my Pokémon journey."
"Greeeee!" (Same here) Girafarig replies.
"It looks like you got another rival on your hands," Misty says.
"No problem! We're always looking for new challenges! Aren't we, Pikachu? Eevee?" Mew says.
Pikachu happily says, "Pika! Pika!" (Always! Always!)
Mew laughs, "Pikachu, Eevee, and I won't anything stop us on our road to victory!"
"Eevee Eevee!" (Absolutely!) Eevee says.
Soon, Brock walks over, "Whaddya say? How 'bout some jelly sandwiches?"
"They look great!" Jen says.
"Thanks a lot for making them!" Misty says.
And Brock says, "Eat up, everyone. You, too, Cherry."
"Thanks! These look great!" Cherry says, taking a sandwich.
"Come on, Girafarig, I made plenty," Brock says, and Girafarig is happy.
Soon, everyone begins eating with smiles on their faces. Soon, she notices the bond everyone has with their Pokemon, especially Mew's.
"That's great!" Cherry says.
Everyone becomes puzzled.
"You, Eevee, and Pikachu seem like you know each other very well," Cherry says.
"Sure do," Mew says.
"Know what some people say?" Cherry says, "They say that when a trainer and a psychic Pokemon are really close, they can communicate their thoughts and feelings psychically."
"Like ESP?" Misty asks.
"I think I read about that somewhere," Brock says.
"If Girafarig and I can do that, I could be a psychic Pokemon master!" Cherry says.
Amazed, Molly says, "I never heard of one of those before."
Then Cherry turns to Mew, "Mew, let's have a battle."
"You mean, now?" Mew asks.
"If I'm going to be a psychic Pokemon master, I need practice," Cherry says.
"Okay, Cherry, let's do it!" Mew says.
Soon, the two trainers are ready to battle.
"We'll each use one Pokemon, agreed?" Cherry replies.
Mew nods, "Fine!"
"I choose Girafarig!" Cherry says.
And Mew says, "And I choose Pikachu!"
Soon, the battle begins, and Mew calls out the first attack, "Start it off with a Quick Attack, Pikachu!"
Pikachu performs a Quick attack and it lands.
Cherry calls out, "Girafarig!"
Girafarig manages to get back up on its hooves.
And Cherry says, "You gave me a scare!"
And calls out the next attack, "Okay, now use Future Sight!"
Girafarig's eyes begin glowing blue.
This makes Mew confused, "Future Sight, I've heard it before."
Soon, the blow disappears, and nothing seems to happen. Mew has heard of Future Sight so she remains on guard.
Confused, Misty asks, "What's Future Sight?"
"I'm not exactly sure. I've heard about it, but I've never actually seen it," Brock says.
And Cherry says, "Just you wait. You won't know what Future Sight is until it's too late."
Brock calls out, "Be careful, Ash!"
"It won't be easy, Future Sight can show up at any time," Mew says.
Then Mew calls out, "Pikachu, Thunderbolt, now!"
Pikachu fires the attack and it lands, but Girafarig gets back up.
Cherry calls out, "Just hang in there! Hold him off a little bit longer until Future Sight kicks in! Try a Stomp attack!"
Girafarig rears back and prepares to Stone.
But Mew calls out, "Pikachu, Agility!"
Pikachu manages to escape from the Stomp attack of Girafarig's hooves.
"That was quick!" Cherry says.
Mew says, "Great job, Pikachu. Now, let's end it with a Thunderbolt."
But suddenly, the wind kicks up and leaves start whipping around them.
"What's that?" Tomo asks.
"It's time," Cherry says, and calls out, "Get ready for Future Sight!"
Soon, an enormous ball of crackling psychic energy comes out of nowhere and slams right into Pikachu, sending it flying.
Mew calls out, "Pikachu!" And soon, Pikachu lands at Mew's feet.
Shocked, Jen asks, "Where'd, that come from?"
"Misty, I have a funny feeling that that attack didn't come from out of nowhere," Brock points out.
"Maybe that, maybe that was Future Sight!" Misty replies.
"That's exactly what it was! Pretty cool, huh?" Cherry happily says, "Future Sight's an attack in the future. Sorta like a time-delayed psychic attack."
"That was awesome!" Mew amazed.
Then Cherry calls out, "Now, let's win this! Use Psybeam!"
Girafarig uses Psybeam.
Then Mew calls out, "Pikachu, use you Thunderbolt attack!"
Pikachu uses the attack as well.
When the two collide, they cause an explosion.
"Girafarig, Confusion!" Cherry calls out.
Then Mew calls out, "Pikachu, use your Thunder!"
Pikachu then leaps into the air and uses Thunder at Girafarig with full force.
Cherry is shocked, "This can't be!"
Girafarig is finally down and out of the battle.
"Oh, no!" Cherry says, shocked
Seeing the results, Brock says, "Hmmm, I think this thing's over".
Cherry rushes up beside Girafarig and cradles it in her arms, "Girafarig."
Then turns to Mew, "You're too strong. We better stop."
"That was an amazing battle, Cherry," Brock says.
"And Future Sight's an amazing attack," Misty says.
"You're right," Cherry replies.
But says, "But I'm not good enough to be a psychic Pokemon master. I just can't seem to communicate with Girafarig psychically."
"What are you talking about?" Mew questions, "You're a great trainer and you're gonna win a ton of badges."
Pikachu and Eevee hug Girafarig's nose.
"Thanks, Pikachu, Eevee. You're nice. You and Mew seem like an unbeatable team," Cherry says.
"Well, we all do win our shares in matches, but working together with the Pokemon is the best," Mew says.
Just then, Cherry has an idea, "Hey! I have an idea. Why don't you come down with me and see all the psychic Pokemon?"
Mew and her friends soon arrive in Len Town with Cherry and her Girafarig as their escort. Of course, Mew and the others let their Psychic Pokemon out to check out the town. And there are a lot of Psychic Pokemon in the town.
"Wow, there are psychic Pokemon everywhere you look," Misty says, amazed.
"That's right. It's great. Thanks to them, ghost Pokemon stay way out of town!" Cherry says.
"Yeah," Tomo says.
Suddenly, an Abra suddenly teleports in front of Mew, and wraps its arms around her neck.
"An Abra!" Jen says, surprised.
Suddenly, an old chubby lady rushes over and calls out, "Abra, you hold it right there! Young lady, don't let that little devil get away!"
But as she gets closer, Abra teleports away while Mew tries to catch it. The old lady arrives, gasping for air.
"It just, disappeared," Mew says.
Cherry says to the old woman, "Hiya, Mrs. Bellows. How are you?"
Mrs. Bellows notices Cherry, "Oh, hello, Cherry. Did you just get back?"
"It looks like your Abra's having fun teleporting," Cherry says.
And Mrs. Bellows says, "It never gets tired of pulling its psychic pranks on me."
"But that's what makes your Abra so cute," Cherry says.
"Yes," Mrs. Bellows says.
Suddenly, Abra appears on the top of a man's head.
Mrs. Bellows shouts "Get off that man's head." and chases after her Pokemon
"Guess you have to stay on your toes to be an Abra trainer," Misty says.
"Especially with pranksters," Mew says.
And everyone begins laughing.
Suddenly, someone comes running towards the group as he cries out, "We've got trouble!"
Soon, a man comes to a sudden stop. Mew and the others gather to check on the man
Cherry asks, "What's the matter?"
"Please, tell us what happened! "Brock says.
The man panics, "It's gigantic!"
"What's gigantic?" Molly asks.
"A Ghost Pokemon that's invulnerable to psychic attacks!" The man says.
He then explains, "Mr. Mime and I were fishing down at the lake when we saw it! I never dreamed a Gengar could grow to be that size!"
Flashback:
The man and his Mr. Mime faces a giant sized Gengar.
The man calls out, "Mr. Mime, use Psywave!"
Mr. Mime attacks, but is easily reflected and in the confusion, Mr. Mime is snatched up by the giant Gengar's tongue and seems to have been eaten.
The man cries out, "Mr. Mime? Mr. Mime!"
Flashback Ends:
"Mr. Mime," The man says in concern.
"Something just doesn't add up," Brock says, "How could a Gengar get to be that big?"
"I agree. Something's fishy going on here," Mew says.
Then turns to the group, "Come on, guys. We better check it out."
Meanwhile, the man's Mr. Mime is sitting dejectedly inside of a large metal cylinder, looking mistable. Just then, the hatch opens from above and it pears up to discover Jessie looking down at it.
"Still down there, clown?" Jessie calls you.
Mr. Mime stands up and shakes its fists at Jessie.
Jessie laughs and closes the hatch.
"Your mirror idea worked brilliantly," James says.
"It's a reflection of my genius," Jessie says.
The two share a toast of soda
"A toast to our mechanical ghost," James says.
Then the two take a long sip.
Meowth then leaps up, "Stop the party!"
Startling them, Jessie and James spit their drinks in each other's faces.
"We ain't got no reason to celebrate yet!" Mewoth says.
"What are you talking about, Meowth?" Jessie questions.
And Mewoth says, "Dat place is full of psychic Pokemon, and we shouldn't party till we've captured every last one of em!"
James agrees, "Right-o! Let's go!"
"Come on!" Jessie says.
In no time, Team Rocket's mechanical Gengar head off.
Team Rocket pedals as they repeat, "We gotta catch em all!"
Back in Len Town, Cherry and Tomo's Girafarig lift their heads, alerting them both, "Heeng?" (Huh?)
"Cherry, how do we get to this Gengar?" Molly asks.
"Come on! The lake's this way," Cherry says.
The group begins to head off, but both Tomo and Cherry's Giragarig grab them by the clothes, telling them to stop.
"What's wrong?" Cherry asks.
And Tomo asks, "What's the matter Girafairg?"
The two look at their Girafarigs. Seeing the look in their eyes, Tomo can tell that his Giragarig senses something bad. Meanwhile, Mrs. Bellows finally catches up to her Abrick, which is up a tree.
"There you are, my Abra, sweetie. Come to mama," The woman says.
Suddenly, the two spot the giant Gengar
"It's a Gengar," The woman says as Abra teleports back to his trainer's shoulder.
Mrs. Bellows turns to Abra, "Abra, shoo it away with your Psychic attack."
Abra prepares to attack.
But Jessie spots Abra, "Abra, at twelve o'clock!"
"Who cares what time it is? Let's just capture it!" Meowth says.
Abra then fires the attack.
"Here comes the Psychic attack," James says.
Jessie chuckles, "Wait till it hits Gengar's eye."
Abra's attack hits the eyes of the 'Gengar' and bounces right back at Abra.
Mrs. Bellows cries out, "Abra, no!"
"What did I tell you? Worked like a charm," Jessie says.
James happily says, "This is easy! Abra's Psychic attack got reflected right back at it!"
"Grab it while it's groggy!" Meowth says.
And Jessie says, "Preparing to launch Lick attack!"
The targeting system locks on Abra, and Jessie says, "Fire."
With a push of a button, the Gengar tongue extends out and slurps up Abra before pulling it into its mouth.
The woman cries out, "Abra! Abra!"
In the machine, Jessie says, "Team Rocket is bouncing back to victory!"
"And we're licking every last one of them!" James says.
"We're unstoppable!" Meowth says.
Back in Len Town.
"What's the matter? Is something bad coming?" Cherry asks her Pokemon.
"Is there trouble?" Tomo asks.
Suddenly, they hear screaming and turn to see people running and a giant Gengar approaches.
The man recognises it, "That's it! That's the Gengar that ate my Mr. Mime!"
Soon, Mrs. Bellows runs up and cries out, "Take your Girafarigs and get out of town!
"What's happening?" Cherry asks.
"It's a giant Gengar and psychic attacks can't stop it!" Mrs. Bellows explains.
Everyone is shocked
Mrs. Bellows continues, "It swallowed my Abra in one gulp! We don't have a chance of defending ourselves! Oh, my poor Abra!"
And soon enough, Team Rocket spots Mew and the others.
"Well, there's the twerp and her Pikachu and Eevee," Jessie says.
"Then let's catch Pikachu and Eevee, too!" James says.
Meowth calls out, "Hurry!"
Soon, the targeting system locks on Mew and her Pokemon.
Cherry then says, "Mrs. Bellows, tell everyone to take their Pokemon inside and hide."
"Cherry, what are you gonna do?" Ms. Bellows asks.
"My Girafarig should be able to beat a Gengar no matter how gigantic it is!" Cherry says.
Girafarig charges.
Cherry calls out, "Use your Psybeam!"
Cherry's Girafarig performs the attack, but it bounces off the Gengar's eyes, and Girafarig dodges just in time.
"It reflected it!" Brock says, shocked.
"How could it do that?" Jen asks.
Suddenly, they hear familiar laughs, and the one responsible. And of course, the motto appears. And they look up to see Team Rocket.
Jessie:
Prepare for trouble.
James:
And make it double.
Jessie:
To protect the world from devastation.
James:
To unite all peoples within our nation.
Jessie:
To denounce the evils of truth and love.
James:
To extend our reach to the stars above.
Jessie:
Jessie.
James:
James.
Jessie:
Team Rocket, blast off at the speed of light.
James:
Surrender now, or prepare to fight, fight, fight!
Meowth:
Meowth, dat's right!
"THAT'S NO GENGAR! THAT'S TEAM ROCKET!" Mew calls out.
"So what!" James says, "This is better than a real Gengar because ours has mirror eyes!"
"What can that do?" Cherry asks.
"Uhhh...Mirrors can reflect psychic attacks back at the Pokemon and stun it, then we can lick it right up!" James says.
"We're getting pretty clever, ain't we?" Meowth says.
And Brock points out, "I have to admit, they are."
Misty grabs Brock by the ear, "HEY! Whose side are you on?"
And James continues, "Our mirror ploy also has the contributing secondary effect of damaging a Psychic Pokémon's confidence against Ghost Pokemon. Consequently, eroding its Trainer's faith and trust in the Pokémon's natural abilities and talents!"
Jessie is surprised, "I had no idea you had such an analytical mind."
Meowth is impressed, "How'd ya tink o dat?"
"I just made it up as I went along," James says.
"Hoooo-ooooh!" Jessie and Mewoth say, impressed and clap their hands.
Cherry stands clenches her fists. Tomo feels the same.
Mew demands, "Give back those Pokemon!"
Team Rocket taunt, "You can't make us!"
"These psychic Pokemon will help us control all humans and Pokemon and help us dominate the world!" Jessie calls out.
James cheers, "Woooo-oooh! Dominate the world?! I thought we were going to use them to entertain on cruise ships!"
"We have something to stop them!" Cherry angrily says.
Suddenly, both Cherry and her Girafarig start glowing.
Molly is surprised, "They're both glowing!"
Team Rocket return to their seats.
"You may as well just hand over the Girafarig," James says.
And Jessie says, "We're getting it anyway."
Cherry calls out, "Girafarig, Confusion attack!"
Girafarig attacks, but the mirrors reflect
Cherry calls out, "Girafarig! Be as strong as you can be! We have to save the other Pokemon!"
Girafarig barely manages to stand up.
Cherry calls out, "Quick, Girafarig, use your Psybeam!"
Girafarig fires the attack, but it reflects towards Giragarig.
"Girafarig!" Cherry cries out and hurries to her Pokemon.
"Cherry, no!" Tomo calls out as he and his Girafarig rushes to them.
"Tomo!" Mew calls out and runs over.
"Wait!" Misty cries out.
"Look out!" Brock calls out.
Soon, Mew, Tomo, Cherry, and Tomo's Girafarig are hit by the attack.
"That was pretty risky, of you," Mew says.
"You'd do the same," Cherry says and drops to her knees.
"Cherry?" Mew asks, and soon Mew collapses on her knees.
On the ground, Cherry says, "I guess I trained Girafarig pretty well. That Psybeam was strong. I'm glad you're okay, Girafarig."
Tomo then steps forward and says, "Just leave Team Rocket to me."
Brock then helps Cherry up, "Steady."
"You better take it easy," Misty says, helping Mew up.
Cherry calls out, "Girafarig, use Future Sight!"
Girafarig's eyes start to glow, followed by its body, puzzling Team Rocket.
"It's just standing there staring," James says.
"She called it Future Sight. Maybe it's seeing how successful our future's gonna be!" Meowth says.
Jessie and James smile and sigh in relief.
"I see it, too. It's simply wonderful," Jessie says, happily.
Tomo throws his Pokeball and calls out, "Go Girafarig."
Tomo's Girafarig charges into the battle.
Suddenly, Girafarig mentally connects his thoughts into Cherry's mind. And is seeing the Gengar robot's tongue as Tomo's Girafarig dodge. Then Tomo's Girafarig performs some attack and soon begins to glow and grow.
"How can I see...?" Cherry asks, and soon realizes, "Oh! Girafarig, was that your vision?"
Soon, Cherry finally gets what the vision is "Tomo! Team Rocket is gonna use Lick attack! There's not much time!"
Tomo calls out, "Girafarig! Blitzle!"
Jessie says and presses the button, "Here goes."
Then the tongue extends.
Tomo calls out, "Jump!"
The two Pokemon jump out of the way.
"You missed," Meowth says.
And James says, "The twerp knew we were coming."
"Don't worry, we'll lick that Girafarig!" Jessie says.
Girafarig continues to dodge the attack, and suddenly, tomo's Girafarig begins to fly, everyone is shocked, but Cherry.
"Impossible!" Jessie says, shocked.
Misty realize, "Girafarig's... Confusion!"
It's revealed that Cherry's Girafarig power is helping Tomo's Girafarig dodge the tongue attack.
"Girafarig's really flying high!" Molly says.
Jessie continues to press the button, "Get it! Get it! Get it!"
At last, the tongue stops as Girafarig flies high enough to be out of range.
"It won't stretch any further!" Jessie says, shocked.
Tomo calls out, "Alright Girafarig, give it everything you got!"
Just then, Tomo's Girafarig's eyes begin to glow and a large purple like orb appears in front of Girafarig. And then fires a powerful beam to strike at the mirrors, shattering it. And then a beam a second time, releasing the Pokemon.
Abra appears to the trainer, much to her relief, "Abra!"
"Mr. Mime!" The man says, happily.
Jessie says, "Quick! We might have a chance if we use our best Pokemon!"
"Okay." James says.
And Wobbuffet pops out of his Pokeball, "WOBB-UFF-ET!" (I don't know!)
Suddenly, the wind kicks up, and even Tomo realizes what's coming, "It's here!"
Soon, a huge ball of crackling, sizzling psychic energy zooms in towards the giant gengar from behind, hitting it hard and sets off an explosion.
"A FUTURE SIGHT BULLSEYE!" Tomo cheers.
"Dat was Future Sight?" Meowth questions.
Jessie moans, "Why didn't I see it coming?"
"Now we're going," James says.
As they are blasted off, Team Rocket screams, "TEAM ROCKETS BLASTING OFF AGAIN!"
Wobbuffet cires out, "WOBBBBB-UH!" (Not again!)
Tomo turns to Cherry, "That was great, Cherry! You too, Girafarig!"
"BRRRINNNG BRRRINNNG!" (Thanks much!) Cherry's Girafarig says.
"We did it, Girafarig! We connected psychically! It must mean we're getting closer than ever," Cherry happily says.
Cherry's Girafarig says, "Nnng, nnng." (It does.)
Tomo hugs his Girafarig, "You were great too. Let's work hard so we can be just like Cherry and her Girafarig."
"Nnng, nnng," (Of course.) Girafarig says.
Suddenly, Tomo's Girafarig begins to glow.
"Wha-what's going on?" Tomo asks.
Everyone looks in surprise as Girafarig glows and its shape changes. Soon, Girafarig changes form and looks different now. Now it's a quadrupedal giraffine Pokémon. Its body is primarily orange with a long, brown neck and topside, yellow underside and lower legs, and black cloven hooves. Its main head has a yellow blaze on top, two yellow ossicones with bulbous tips, white eyes with black eyelashes and irises, pink upper eyelids, dark brown spots around its eyes, and a round, pink nose. This head is covered by its tail head, which has moved forward, hardened. The tail head is dark brown with a black face, yellow eyes, sharp white teeth, and four ossicone-like antennae with bulbous tips. There are four orange spots on the front of its neck, and seven dark brown spots circling around where its neck meets its body. It has a row of eight dark brown and yellow spikes running down its spine.
Everyone is shocked to see that Girafarig has changed.
"Girafarig…" Tomo says, surprised.
"Did it… did it just evolve?" Cherry asks, amazed
The new Girafarig turns to Tomo and nuzzles him with a smile.
"It is you. You actually evolved," Tomo says.
"I'll bet this is a Pokemon from the Paldea Region," Brock says.
"Let's see," Mew says, and brings out her Pokedex.
Dexter says, "Farigiraf, the Long Neck Pokemon, and the evolved form of Girafarig.
A Normal and Psychic Type. Now that the brain waves from the head and tail are synced up, the psychic power of this Pokémon is 10 times stronger than Girafarig's. Girafargi will evolve when reached to a level and know Twin Beam."
"Wow. You evolved and learned a new move. That is so cool," Tomo says and hugs his new Farigiraf.
Later, everyone is walking down the open road as Tomo rides on his newly evolved Farigiraf.
Brock says, "Next time we see Cherry, it might be at the Johto League Championship."
"Watch out, Mew. She's gonna be tough," Misty says.
"She sure is, but I'm not too worried. We'll be ready when Cherry and her Girafarig will become stronger," Mew says.
Pikachu and Eevee happily agree.
Seeing her friends off, Cherry turns to her Pokemon, "We're gonna be a great team, just like they are."
Mew and her friends continue with their Pokemon Journey. With his newly evolved Farigiraf, she and Tomo will do great to be more connected.
