Pokemon: The Master Of Monsters

Chapter 37: Chapter 37: Quasi-Elite Abra

"Meow~!" Butterfree chirped as it nodded, signaling its understanding of Gary's words. It seemed ready to train diligently under Professor Oak's guidance.

"Alright, then come in," Gary said, releasing Butterfree from its Poké Ball and watching as it teleported away to Professor Oak.

"Gary, I've received it here," Professor Oak's voice came through the screen. He had already opened the Poké Ball and released Butterfree.

"This color is quite striking," Professor Oak commented, admiring Flash Butterfree's unique appearance.

"Butterfree, make sure you keep an eye on Grandpa during training, and don't let him stay up too late," Gary reminded with a smile.

"Meow!" Butterfree responded on the screen, agreeing to look after Professor Oak's well-being and ensuring he rested on time each night.

"Okay, now you can give me Abra," Gary added as the call ended, signaling that it was time for him to officially take Abra.

Sabrina handed over the Poké Ball containing her Abra. Gary accepted it, his eyes scanning the ball for any signs of what he was about to get.

He quickly released the Pokémon and examined its attributes:

---

Pokémon: Abra

Type: Psychic

Level: 20

Potential: Quasi-Elite

Ability: Psychic (possesses a trained spirit and will not flinch from rival attacks. Also immune to intimidation.)

Skill: Teleport

Intimacy: 110 (max value 255)

---

Gary noted the impressive potential of this Abra, which was labeled as Quasi-Elite. It wasn't just its Psychic typing that made it special; its abilities and potential were already showing signs of excellence. The Psychic ability would also help Abra remain calm during battles, a trait that could make it an invaluable member of Gary's team.

Gary, eager to begin his journey with Abra, bent down to greet the Pokémon. "Abra, I'm your new Trainer now. Please give me your full support."

Abra stared blankly at Gary, confusion evident in its large, tired eyes. "Abra?" it seemed to ask, unsure how it had suddenly ended up in a new trainer's hands.

Sabrina, standing nearby, coldly addressed the Pokémon. "Gary will be your Trainer now. Listen to him."

"Woo!" Abra muttered in response. Despite feeling a bit let down for not being selected by Sabrina, Abra recognized the reality. It had been one of two Abras, and it was aware that Sabrina was looking for a suitable Trainer. Even though it had been passed over, it understood that Gary would at least provide the guidance it needed.

Gary, sensing Abra's hesitation, offered an encouraging smile. "Don't worry. I'll help you grow stronger."

"Woo." Abra nodded silently, but it didn't seem completely convinced. As a Psychic Pokémon, Abra was sharp enough to sense Gary's words but wasn't sure if they held any real meaning. As long as it was well-fed and treated decently, it was content for now. The promises of growth didn't seem to impress it just yet.

"To thank you, Gary, please stay for dinner," Sabrina's mother kindly invited him, offering a warm gesture of hospitality.

"Sure, thank you," Gary accepted without hesitation. He would be traveling with Sabrina for the foreseeable future, so staying at her home for dinner seemed reasonable. It would also give him more time to get to know her family.

---

After dinner, Gary stayed at the Saffron Gym, trying to process all that had happened. He lay on the bed, his mind racing. "I never imagined I'd be traveling with Sabrina," he thought, still trying to wrap his head around the situation.

Initially, Gary had simply wanted to acquire Abra, but now he had not only gained a strong Psychic Pokémon but also found himself with an unexpected travel companion. Sabrina, while powerful and intelligent, was also a Psychic. Her abilities were both a gift and a potential source of complications for Gary. If anything triggered her anger, her Psychic powers could be overwhelming.

Gary's thoughts shifted. "By the way, will Ash make it to the Indigo Plateau? Can he really get all eight badges?" While Gary's journey was his own, he knew that Ash's path intertwined with major events that could affect the entire world. Ash's involvement in critical moments—like stopping Mewtwo's plans or battling the legendary birds in the Orange Islands—was vital. Without Ash, the world might not be able to function as it should.

Sabrina was with him now, and her father, Najun, was the Gym Leader in Saffron City. While Najun was a skilled Trainer, Sabrina was stronger as a Psychic. Still, Najun's abilities as a Trainer were impressive, and Gary worried whether Ash would be able to defeat him if he arrived at Saffron Gym. With Gengar now residing there as well, things were only getting more complicated.

Gary considered Ash's travels—he was only just leaving Nibi City after earning his badge, and it would likely be over a month before he reached Saffron Gym. Gary knew that, in the meantime, he needed to focus on his own journey, understanding how to manage his new team, including Sabrina, without upsetting her or causing trouble.

"Well, we'll see what happens," Gary decided. He couldn't control everything, and Ash's progress would unfold in its own time.

As for Sabrina, Gary knew she was still adjusting. While she had regained her calm demeanor, her Psychic powers had only grown stronger after the merging of her two personalities. She was still an unpredictable force to be reckoned with, and Gary made a mental note not to provoke her.

The Next Day

The following morning, Gary and Sabrina set off from Saffron City. Sabrina's family had said their goodbyes, and the two travelers were ready to continue their journey.

Gary opted to ride a bike, and Sabrina decided to join him on her own mountain bike. However, Sabrina had no experience riding a bike, so she used her Psychic powers to keep the bike balanced through Confusion. It was a clever solution, but Gary couldn't help but feel it wasn't the best approach.

"Sabrina, I think you can try to ride without using Confusion. It's not as hard as you think," Gary suggested, trying to guide her.

Sabrina, a bit nervous, hesitated. "What if I fall?" she asked, not ready to trust herself.

Gary gave her a patient smile. "You wanted to be a qualified Trainer, right? Well, that means not relying on your Psychic powers all the time. Start slow. If you're about to fall, just use your legs to steady the bike. That's the first step."

Sabrina frowned but decided to give it a try. Slowly, she released her grip on Confusion, allowing the bike to move on its own. At first, she was able to ride steadily, but when the road became bumpy, she quickly lost her balance.

In a panic, she reached out with her Psychic powers to steady the bike, trying to correct her position. She remembered Gary's advice too late and didn't stretch her legs to stop herself from falling.

"You can do it," Gary encouraged. "Just trust yourself a bit more."

Sabrina took a deep breath, her resolve strengthening. She gritted her teeth and kept going, determined to prove herself. As the day went on, she continued riding, and gradually, she learned to keep her balance without needing to use Confusion constantly.

Gary, watching her progress, couldn't help but feel a little proud. "She'll get it," he thought. "She just needs time."

And with that, the two trainers continued their journey—Sabrina learning to ride her bike, Gary guiding her along the way, and both of them looking ahead to the challenges that awaited them.
