Chapter 62: Chapter 63: The True Protagonist Reappears
The real protagonists, Jessie, James, and Meowth of Team Rocket, have made their dramatic reappearance. After their failure during the Viridian City operation, the trio faced a light punishment but managed to avoid severe consequences. Now, determined to redeem themselves, they are back in action.
Following their defeat at the hands of Ash and Misty, the Rocket trio began tracking the pair, eventually finding them in Pewter City and following them to Mt. Moon. Their initial plan was merely to eavesdrop on Ash and Misty's conversation, but they stumbled upon shocking news instead.
What is Ho-Oh?
It is a legendary Pokémon revered as the "King of Soaring in the Sky," possessing the power of recovery. For the trio, anything linked to a Pokémon as extraordinary as Ho-Oh could become a golden opportunity. Though they didn't know the exact significance of Ho-Oh's feather, they believed presenting it to their boss could bring them fame, a promotion, and a long-dreamed-of salary hike.
"Let's wait for them to fall asleep..." Jessie whispered as the trio began formulating their plan.
Meanwhile, Ash, Misty, and Brock returned to the dormitory. Brock, couldn't contain his excitement at the thought of seeing Ho-Oh's feather up close.
"Ho-Oh hasn't been seen by humans in years," Brock said, his voice filled with wonder. "Ever since the great fire, it's been like it vanished from the world. To even see a feather—it's like a blessing!"
Ash carefully retrieved the feather from his bag. Though it seemed simple, its connection to a legendary Pokémon made it an object of awe.

A Mysterious Observer
As Ash and his friends retired for the night, a pair of faint, flickering eyes appeared in the shadows cast by the dim lights. They glowed like candle flames and were directed at the Team Rocket trio. For a moment, the eyes lingered, watching silently, before vanishing as if they'd never been there.
The Rocket trio, oblivious to the watchful presence, pressed forward with their plan.

Team Rocket's Scheme Unfolds
In the middle of the night, the Pokémon Center at the foot of Mt. Moon was quiet. With no other buildings around, the area was usually still, save for the occasional late-night trainer or staff member.
High above the center, a hot air balloon shaped like Meowth floated silently in the sky. Inside the basket, James, the calmest of the three, surveyed the area.
"This time, we can't mess up like we did in Viridian City," James said.
"Yeah, that kid's Pikachu is tough, meow," Meowth added, rubbing his chin thoughtfully.
Jessie, however, was less cautious. "Why not just grab the feather and leave? This is so tedious!" she complained.
Meowth sighed. "Jessie, we're no match for that Pikachu as we are now. We need a solid plan."
"Fine, fine!" Jessie muttered impatiently.
James adjusted the controls, lowering the balloon to hover just ten meters above the Pokémon Center's roof. Dropping a rope, the trio prepared to infiltrate. Jessie and Meowth slid down first, peering through the glass roof into the Pokémon Center's dimly lit hall.
Only a couple of trainers were awake, and two staff members, along with a few Chansey, worked quietly in the background. James signaled to his teammates, pointing toward the north wing where the dormitory was located.
The trio crept toward their target, unaware that the flickering eyes had reappeared, following them in the shadows.
---
A Creeping Dread
As they moved silently across the roof, Meowth suddenly froze. "I... I feel like something isn't right, meow..." he whispered, glancing nervously over his shoulder.
James frowned. "Don't waste time! If someone spots us, we're done for."
Jessie rolled her eyes. "Stop being paranoid and focus, Meowth!"
Meowth reluctantly nodded and followed. However, just before he turned away, he caught a glimpse of two glowing, orange-red orbs floating in the darkness.
He stopped dead in his tracks, his mouth opening in silent shock.
---
A Strange Presence
"Meowth, what's wrong with you now?" Jessie hissed, turning to glare at him.
Before Meowth could respond, the orbs vanished. Trembling, he muttered, "N-nothing... I'm coming..."
Shaking off his unease, Meowth joined the others as they located a ventilation duct leading to the dormitory. After prying it open, Jessie and James climbed inside, leaving Meowth to keep watch.
As he stood guard, the eerie sensation of being watched returned. Spinning around, Meowth's fur bristled as the fiery eyes reappeared, this time accompanied by a faint, shadowy outline of a small humanoid Pokémon.
Meowth gasped, too terrified to make a sound.
---
The Final Move
Inside the duct, Jessie and James whispered, "We're almost there."
Satisfied with their progress, they turned to check on Meowth. Seeing him frozen in fear, Jessie groaned, "What now?"
Before she could investigate, a faint glow illuminated the vent. The strange eyes that had been haunting Meowth suddenly vanished.

This chapter ends on a suspenseful note, with the Rocket trio obliviously moving closer to Ash's dormitory. What was the mysterious presence? Will Team Rocket succeed in their heist, or will their plans unravel once more?
