Pokemon: This Gary is Very Different

"Keep fighting, Gary! Even if your opponent is Sidney of the Elite Four!"

As the battle was about to begin, Hilda and Rosa, standing beside Gary, offered their encouragement just in time.

"I will," Gary replied confidently.

After getting Gary's response, Hilda and Rosa moved to the edge of the field, ready to watch the upcoming battle.

"Since this is an unequal battle, I will only use one Pokémon, but you are free to use multiple. If you can defeat my Pokémon, you win. How about it?" 

Sidney, one of the Elite Four of Hoenn, announced the rules with confidence from the opposite side.

"No problem," Gary replied, having no objections. After all, he knew that his strength was no match for the Elite Four, especially someone of Sidney's caliber.

"Alright, this is the Pokémon I'm sending out. Go, Shiftry!"

Sidney tossed his Poké Ball into the air, releasing a Shiftry onto the battlefield.

- Moves: Leaf Blade, Air Slash, Payback, Sunny Day, Brick Break, Bullet Seed, Dark Pulse, Energy Ball, Leaf Storm, Shadow Ball...

After observing Sidney's Shiftry, Gary glanced at his opponent and said, "Even though it's not your main Pokémon, this Shiftry is still incredibly strong."

Sidney raised an eyebrow in surprise. "You've got a good eye! That's right—this Shiftry isn't one of my main Pokémon."

"Thanks for the compliment!" Gary responded, but he didn't dwell on it. He knew even Sidney's non-main Pokémon would be tough to beat.

Without hesitation, Gary threw his first Poké Ball. "I'm counting on you, Umbreon!"

A flash of light revealed Gary's Umbreon on the battlefield. After intense training, Umbreon had reached level 62, putting it just below Elite Four level.

"You've trained that Umbreon well," Sidney acknowledged, his experience with Dark-types making him a good judge of Gary's efforts.

"Thanks!" Gary couldn't help but feel proud; receiving praise from an Elite Four member was no small feat.

"Let's see what your Umbreon can do," Sidney said, his tone carrying a hint of excitement. He was eager to see what Gary had in store.

"Alright! Umbreon, use Quick Attack!"

At Gary's command, Umbreon dashed forward in a flash of white light, speeding toward Shiftry.

"Shiftry, brace yourself!" Sidney ordered calmly.

Shiftry took Umbreon's Quick Attack head-on, but due to the difference in strength, the attack didn't cause much damage.

"Now it's time to counter!" Sidney called out.

With a flash of energy, Shiftry launched its Payback attack, knocking Umbreon backward. Umbreon, forced to retreat, finally stopped in front of Gary, having taken double damage from the counterattack.

Although Umbreon wasn't out of the fight yet, the damage was significant.

"Shiftry, use Leaf Blade!"

Dozens of glowing green leaves shot out like blades, slicing through the air toward Umbreon.

"Quick Attack again!" Gary shouted.

Umbreon quickly vanished from its spot, avoiding the incoming Leaf Blades.

"Magical Leaf!" Sidney commanded.

This time, the leaves Shiftry summoned were Magical Leaves, and unlike Leaf Blade, they homed in on Umbreon's location even after it dodged.

As Umbreon weaved to avoid the Magical Leaves, Sidney didn't waste time and gave his next order.

"Use Grass Knot!"

Suddenly, green vines sprang up from the ground beneath Umbreon, tangling its legs and tripping it.

The Magical Leaves closed in and struck Umbreon while it was down, leaving it unable to continue fighting.

"You did great, Umbreon. Come back and rest." Gary returned Umbreon to its Poké Ball, feeling the weight of the loss.

"Alright, it's up to you now, Metagross!"

Gary threw another Poké Ball, and a gleaming Shiny Metagross appeared on the battlefield, standing tall against Shiftry.

"A Shiny Metagross?! It's the same color as Steven's!" Sidney's eyes widened in surprise.

"Shiny Metagross, and it's a pseudo-legendary? Gary, you're one lucky Trainer!" Sidney said with a hint of envy.

"It's just luck," Gary replied modestly, though he knew the Metagross was the result of his hard work and his past experiences.

Sidney couldn't help but admire Gary's luck but quickly refocused on the battle. "Shiftry, use Shadow Ball!"

Shiftry charged up several dark energy orbs and fired them like bullets toward Gary's Metagross.

"Be careful, Metagross! Use..."
