Chapter 61: 60. Stupid zombies.
Chapter 60
"Aren't there too many of them?" Hisashi asked nervously, looking at the hall filled with the dead, and it was understandable, even by the most rough count there would be no less than five dozen of them.
- Wait here, I'll sort this out. - I headed towards the crowd.
- Are you completely out of your mind?! - Takagi suddenly hissed, grabbing me by the shoulder.
- Do you doubt my powers?
- You... There are dozens of them, no one person can handle that many with a simple katana in their hands! - the girl shouted quietly.
- She's right, no matter how good you are, but it's not worth risking like that, we can easily try to distract them and get through quietly. - Saeko supported the girl.
"You clearly underestimate me," I shook my head. "Just wait a little."
Without listening to the next attempts to dissuade me, I rushed into the crowd like a silent shadow. The only sound was the heads of the dead falling to the ground, and I walked along the edge of the crowd as if on a walk, decapitating them, without making a sound. I am sure from the outside it looked extremely surreal. After all, reacting to the sounds of heads falling, the zombies went in the direction where the heads fell. As a result, they simply circled in one place.
So, apart from the unnatural silence, I basically didn't show anything supernatural.
- See. Nothing complicated. - Having cut off the head of the last dead man, I looked with a smile at the others, whose faces literally screamed "Was that possible?!"
- But how... How did you move so silently? - Saeko asked in surprise.
- Well, they gave me permission to carry a bladed weapon for some reason. - I smiled even wider, without answering directly.
- None of this matters now. The main thing is that we can now freely enter the security room and get the key to the bus. - Takashi intervened.
Agreeing with the guy's words, the others, although still under the impression, decided to give up on questioning, although, judging by the wary looks, some were frightened by my capabilities. At least in the eyes of the guy who joined us on the way to the dining room, there was obvious fear.
- Here. - After a short search, teacher Hayashi handed Takashi the keys. - But there is no key to the gate.
"Are they locking them up?" the guy asked, frowning.
- Only at night, and during the day they lock it with a latch, but then the key must be here, - the teacher answered.
- This means that someone took it and the gates may be locked.
"Is that a problem?" I asked before explaining my thoughts. "But you said that the parking lot is outside, and as I saw, the fence is not difficult to get through."
- Maybe so, but there will definitely be more dead people outside and in this case I wouldn't want to waste even more time in vain. - Takashi shook his head.
- Why in vain, the more zombies die, the better, isn't it? - I looked at him with incomprehension.
- There are more than 10 million people living in our city, if we assume that even 20 percent of the population will become zombies, these couple of dozen will mean nothing.
- And? Do you have a more productive suggestion on how we can get to the bus quickly and safely? - I looked at the guy skeptically.
- I'll distract them, and the rest will go through the gates in the meantime, and if they're closed, they'll climb over. - the guy said.
"I'll cover him," Saeko immediately jumped up.
- Why? - I looked at the girl with incomprehension. - As far as I could tell, he is quite capable of moving silently, just like me.
"But…" Saeko began to try to object.
- Busujima-san, she's right. - Takashi interrupted the girl. I wonder if he really managed to interest her so much in such a short time?
- The plan is this: I'll distract them away from the exit now, you go to the door, but don't go outside. I'll go out first and also distract the dead onto myself, only after that you go to the gate, and then straight to the bus.
"Why can't we wait for you outside?" Saya asked.
- Because I'll be entertaining a crowd of fans and, if I'm unlucky, you should already be in place to be able to move out immediately.
- Okay, I'm fine with this plan, but I want to add one thing, I'll wait for you near the gate, so that in the worst case I can pull you out. - I nodded and expressed my opinion.
- Excellent. - Takashi did not argue. - Is everyone ready? Then let's get to work.
As I suspected, the guy really knew how to walk silently and in some way repeated what I did with the previous crowd. Walking silently, he periodically clapped his hands to attract all the zombies, and then simply circled around them. Luckily for my fellow travelers, the gates were open, and they were able to calmly get on the bus while I looked around, calculating whether they would be able to see from the bus what I wanted to do. In the end, having calculated that this was unlikely, I decided to act.
Moving behind Takashi, who was running towards me, I charged my katana with anemo energy, carefully controlling the direction so that after a horizontal swing, a dense wind blade would fly out, which in one fell swoop decapitated the crowd of zombies that the guy had so conveniently gathered.
- Who are you? - Takashi asked with a stony face, who had clearly managed to get scared when I suddenly appeared behind him with a sword in my hands and now completely suppressed his emotions.
- I don't think we have enough time for such a conversation now. Besides, I also have questions for you, "time traveler." - I said with a playful smile.
"Okay," the guy nodded and, letting go of the suppression of emotions, headed towards the bus.
