Reign Of The Crimson Queen

Chapter 6: The weapon pt3

As we blitzed towards the ground the ground I felt a little scared thinking I was going to be smushed. As we neared the ground she went from nose diving to standing straight up and spread her glossy black feathered wings out fully. She landed softly then put me down staring at me with a stupid smile.

"Oh my please warn me next time I thought I was a goner." I said hunched over not used to the sensation of diving straight through the air.

"My bad I'll give you small heads up next time." Theresa said

"Small wha-" I tried saying before she interrupted me putting a finger to my mouth.

"Shhh no questions a small heads up ok?"

"Yes a small heads up." This girl is going to get me killed.

"Nyssa come on let's keep playing till momma comes to get us!"

"Ok I'm coming!" I replied excitedly we played for hours Theresa beating me nearly every time. It didn't matter that I was losing I was having fun I was happy. We played well into the night it was pitch black and Theresa had fallen asleep on my shoulder while we sat against the fountain. I stared at the night sky filled with stars. As I looked around I saw the figure of a man leaning against a building watching us.

I can't sense his gaze or that he was even there I can sense dread effortlessly who the hell is this guy.

He didn't move or anything just stood there for an hour exactly an hour then he just vanished no shadow movement or anything just disappeared. Almost as soon as he disappeared I heard the clatter of plate armor and footsteps.

There's at least twenty they're in teams of four searching right now I can take care of them but I don't want to leave Theresa alone at risk.

The time they were searching felt like hours one of the teams is at the fountain where we are. I gently set Theresa off my shoulder and cast a barrier around her the shimmer of the barrier would definitely attract attention but we were about to be found anyway. I sat there waiting for the first guard to turn the corner then the sky lit up bright blue lightning covering the sky and at the center of it a woman who looked anything but happy. I knew who it was and I knew why she wasn't happy Mara cares deeply for her daughter she wouldn't let this pass. The soldiers all got into formation but you could tell by their faces they knew they stood no chance before letting them speak Mara formed a bolt of lightning in her hand and threw it at the group incinerating them instantly none of them lived. Theresa slept right through it.

"Keep the barrier up I would like to speak with you." Mara said descending from the sky her dragon wings disappearing. I did as she said I set Theresa back on my shoulder figuring it would be comfortable to her because she fell asleep there originally and kept the barrier around every part of here except her cheek that was resting on my shoulder.

"It was nice watching you and her play she doesn't have any friends her age yet and I'm scared anyone she meets will try to use her because of her position as heir to the Siegeheart family." Mara said as she sat next to me Not knowing what to say I stayed quiet. "I want her to have a nice future away from war and death but I'm not naive enough to think that's possible I was scared what would happen to her but I feel that if you two stay together she will be ok." Mara said gently without hesitation

"I will protect her."

"Thank you that's just what I wanted to hear and I want to say I know you're the granddaughter of knowledge you may be two years old but your mind is closer to a full grown adult's Nyssa."

"How did you know I was the granddaughter of knowledge?"

"Because you aren't the only divine being here I'm special in my own way I am the dragon god." She said smiling softly her horns beginning to crack with lightning.

"Wait then that means that Theresa."

"Correct daughter of the dragon god she's divine as well and I knew the god of knowledge personally so that helped me figure out you were his granddaughter but you should keep all that secret ." She said holding her finger up to her mouth smiling.

"Knew him personally that would make you well over a thousand years old that's when he was last seen." I said astonished

"Correct again I'm quite old dare I say ancient I am the original dragon god which lands me since the dawn of creation which is probably in the billions or longer honestly I lost count the reason I tell you all of this about me being the dragon god and all that other stuff is because the mark of knowledge you bear for being his granddaughter is a huge blessing but also a huge curse if you have no one to keep you anchored." Mara said with a saddening tone.

"Anchored what do you mean anchored?"

"Let me tell you a short story about the daughter of knowledge like you she possessed the mark of knowledge but unlike you she had no anchor she had a brother but he was constantly fighting at war so he only saw her at rare times but when he did he always did his best to be there for her and help her and for a time that worked but she was still diminishing until she lost all trace of emotion because like you she matured at an astonishing rate so fast that by ten she was queen of a nation she founded her brother was the only thing keeping her afloat enough that she was able to rule with empathy and be a good queen but the last time he left for the battlefield she finally broke went insane and began slaughtering her own people see Nyssa that's why I need you two to stay by each other's side that way she can have a friend and you don't lose yourself like my friend did but that is enough for now I don't want to hear your response just remember what I said I'm going back to the lake I leave Theresa in your hands just fire a random big spell in the sky if you need me." Mara said standing then spreading her wings and taking off at absurd speeds.

"That leaves me with a lot of questions." I said dropping the shield around Theresa who was still asleep I sat waiting till she woke pondering everything I was told. After the sun had rose and Theresa woken up she demanded to be carried because she didn't want to walk I caved and gave her a piggyback ride back to the lake she spent the time quiet focused on playing with my hair. Once we arrived there was Mara laying beside the lake.

"You ready to go Theresa?" Mara asked her daughter as she stood up walking towards us.

"Yeah let's go but I wanna see Nyssa again she's fun and her hair is really fun to play with it's so bright." Theresa said skipping over to her mother giving her a hug both of them then spread their wings.

"Nyssa come I will give you a lift to military central command your father has summoned you." Mara said

"For what?

"I don't know all I know is he summoned you."

"Ok I'm ready whenever you are." I said Mara wrapped her arms around my stomach and took off Theresa following quickly after in under five minutes we made a six hour trip and arrived at the command center and Mara dropped me off. Her and Theresa said goodbye then flew off Theresa making a funny face at me as she took off. I walked into the white marble building it adorned with gold the Ignia crest above the gate. The hallways of the building were the same the Ignia crest at every intersection eteched in gold. I ended up getting lost in the building and wandered aimlessly until I found a door with the Ignia crest in ruby instead of gold I entered and there was my father.

"You're here good." He said looking up from his paperwork.

"Why did you need me here?" I asked keeping my distance.

"I'll keep it short you're now the member and leader of a newly formed small force called the eight daggers you will be the first dagger and the operations team will be fully assembled and official once you have completed your training in all manner of combat possible including large scale battle tactics, assassination, intel gathering, and all forms of close and ranged combat that will be all now you're dismissed." He said with a tone that was entirely serious.

"Wait I-"

"I said you're dismissed go home and begin training now go." He said interrupting me staring me right in the eye I left fearing he might beat me again if I disobeyed. As I left the command center Mara was there.

"Come Nyssa I was instructed to bring you home." She said wings spread I let her pick me up in silence puzzled what this meant for me.
