Reign Of The Crimson Queen

The second the carriage pulled away I felt a hand grab the back of my head with force. I was strong but not stronger than father I couldn't break free. He threw me down forcefully face first onto the stone breaking my nose once again. He then stomped on the back of my head knocking me unconscious. As I woke up my body was screaming in pain I could see the moon's reflection in the pool of blood under me.

You need to heal yourself

I told myself beginning to form a healing spell I started healing my broken legs so i could stand. Going over all my injuries it would be easier to name what's not broken. I healed most of the damage and limped through the manor a trail of blood following me. As I reached the stairs my vision began to blur and I struggled to stand I fell to the floor I couldn't do anything but lay there. After what felt like years I felt a familiar shadowy presence and I began to smile knowing I would be ok. I looked over and saw Dread leaning down to pick up my tiny broken body.

"Nyssa you're unable to so much as speak yet you're still vigilant as ever." She said with her usual emotionless state as she carried me to mothers room.

"You can rest now Nyssa I've got you."

Those words felt amazing and I truly believed her so I let myself sleep putting my life in the shadow scythe's hands. As I woke up the sun was beating down on me blinding me.

"Welcome back sweetheart." A familiar voice said it only took me a second to realize it was mother.

"Good morning mother thank you for taking care of me and tell dread I thank her too." I said weakly.

"You can tell her yourself she's somewhere in the manor lurking like she always does." Mother said smiling

"I'll do that later I have to go I told Mara I'd meet her"

"Mara told me Mara is a good person and amazing mother but knowing her she's gunna tease you to no end."

"And her daughter is gunna be there she's the purple version of Mara she seems fun and she's pretty."

"Theresa is gunna be there too it's nice seeing you make friends now if there's one thing Mara hates it's when you're late so you might want to run now before she makes you run laps around the empire."

Hearing this my face went pale and I sprinted at top speed to where I had last seen mara arriving in an instant. Mara was standing there arms crossed while Theresa was trying to skip rocks on the lake.

"You're late two weeks late to be exact." Mara said annoyed

"TWO WEEKS?" I asked beyond confused

"Yeah that's how long it's been since we've last seen you we half believed you'd never show but you didn't seem like the type of person to break her word so I waited every day."

"Momma is that Nyssa?" Theresa asked running up to us

"That it is she had cold feet for two weeks apparently." Mara said

"You're a lot less scary and prettier when you're not covered in blood Nyssa come on let's play!" Theresa said excitedly grabbing my arm

Mara looked at me with an evil grin "you two have fun I'll be over here by the lake." She said turning around

Theresa lead me through the ruined buildings until we reached an area with a broken foundation surrounded by thirteen buildings.

"We're gunna play a game me and momma play sometimes it's called hide and seek so you're gunna stand here cover your eyes and count to thirty and I'm gunna go hide and you have to find me if you find me then you get hide and I count and after five minutes if I don't get found I'll come out ok start counting." She said putting my hands over my eyes and running off giggling before I could even say a word. I could hear her tiny footsteps running to where she was hiding after the thirty seconds was up I traced her footsteps and followed where I heard her go finding the building she was in it only took me twenty seconds to find her.

"Mmmmmm" she pouted

"What?" I asked

"Do I need to make you cover your ears the same way I have momma do it you both like to cheat" she said arms crossed

"I didn't cheat I simply listened to where you ran off too and followed your footsteps there."

"Exactly!!! You and momma take this game way to seriously and I will not be having my first friend turn into my momma no way so you are gunna close your eyes cover your ears and relax got it?" She said as she skipped up to me getting in my face with a pouty look

"Uh…yes I got it"

"YAY START COUNTING"

It felt weird being called friend but it made me feel warm inside it felt good. I was happy as I counted down anticipating it once I reached zero I looked down into the fountain then ran to where she hid last time. She wasn't there I searched through rubble and buildings looking for her until the 5 minutes passed.

"I'm over hereeeee Nyssa!!!" Theresa said loudly jumping up and down with a smile so big it could light up the sky.

"Wha- how did you get over here I counted right infront of you?"

"When you started counting I stood behind you and once you ran off I laid down in the fountain hahaha."

"That's a nasty trick Theresa."

"Yeah yeah it's your turn to hide ok go go I count"

Once she started counting I ran to the tallest building ran up the stairs to the middle floor and climbed out of the window onto the roof of the balcony below. My face flush with excitement I waited one, two, three, four minutes went by I was so close to winning. Then I heard her enter the building she was sprinting around checking everything she ran into the room I jumped out of looked around then ran out I won. After the five minutes I jumped up and screamed.

"I'M OVER HERE HAHA!" I screamed and laughed with excitement. Theresa emerged in a flash of purple lightning poking her head out of the window.

"WHAT THE?" She yelled down at me

"I JUMPED OUT OF THE WINDOW!!" I screamed up at her smiling so much it hurt.

"STAY THERE I'M COMING DOWN RIGHT NOW!" She climbed out of the window and began climbing down as she was a brick broke under her weight and she fell. I moved to catch her but suddenly small black feathered wings sprouted from her back and she flew down to me then retracted her wings.

"Uh… since when did you have wings?"

"I always have momma taught me how to use my wings very early it was the first thing she taught me to do after I learned that she taught me how to use my dragon powers well some of them at least see." Theresa said wreathing her body in purple lightning then in what I assume was a moment of impulse she tapped me and shocked me.

"HAHAHA" she laughed hysterically after shocking me.

"That hurt you know."

"I know I'm sorry but it was hilarious"

"I bet it was anyway back to the wings those aren't dragon wings they have black feathers those are the wings of a fallen angel but you're so young so how?"

"Correct momma told me that my father was an angel or more importantly a fallen angel that's how I have these wings momma said one day I might be able to enter dragon form but she's not sure because I'm not fully dragon like her."

"Your mother can turn into a dragon?"

"Yeah she can she gets super massive in her full dragon form she's bigger than the moon and she glows a bright blue it's beautiful."

"So you would be a purple dragon then."

Yeah I probably would nowwwww come on we're gunna keep playing till momma comes to get us." She said pulling me to my feet then hugging me.

"Uh why are you hugging me?"

"Because I can get us both down there safely now hold on." She took off I never really looked at how high we were but as I was looking down at the city I heard Theresa's voice.

"Here's the fun part!" She said excitedly as she nose dived towards the ground.
