Chapter 5: The Discipline of The Striker
Later, before he went back home and before his father could come to get him, Arima first checked the daily quest rewards. Then, he immediately took his wooden sword and rushed back to the house. He was determined to continue, even though it was hard and he had no energy left in his body. Arima's mental strength had increased a bit due to his workouts, and he leveled up that day as well.
He checked his status, and the blue screen appeared:
[Status]
Name: Arima Parker
Strength: 10
HP: 100
Skills: [Dusk Slash]
Level: 2
Arima smiled when he saw he had leveled up. Before entering the house, Arima remembered that he hadn't used the dagger he received yesterday. He scratched his head. "Maybe tomorrow," he murmured, then entered the house. The silence inside was unusual. He first looked at Jayce but couldn't find him. Instead, he saw Raevhen in the kitchen, cooking lunch.
"Oh, Arima, you're finally here! Where did you go, and why are your clothes all sweaty?" Raevhen asked.
"I was practicing again. I'll change quickly," Arima replied. He immediately took his shirt off and went to his room to change.
When Arima came out of his room, he asked Raevhen where Jayce had gone, since he couldn't find him.
"Aah, your father went to the capital city," Raevhen replied.
Arima was curious and asked, "Why did he go to the capital city?"
"He, he... just had some business there," Raevhen mumbled.
Arima stared at her, but deep inside, he knew something was wrong. Later, still waiting for his father, Arima grew tired. By noon, Jayce still hadn't returned, and Arima, exhausted from his workout, fell asleep.
When Raevhen saw Arima sleeping on the couch, she slowly lay him down properly. His body felt comfortable, and Raevhen smiled as she noticed her son was growing up.
Later, when Arima woke up, the outside was somewhat dark, and Jayce still wasn't home. Raevhen noticed Arima was finally awake and asked him if he wanted to eat since he hadn't eaten lunch yet. Arima stood up and said, "Yes, Mother."
As Arima was eating, Jayce returned, looking exhausted. "I'm home," Jayce said. His outfit was unusual, which made Arima curious.
Arima asked, "What did you do in the capital city, Father?"
Jayce smiled and replied, "I just delivered the rice plants."
Although Jayce smiled while saying it, Arima could tell it wasn't the truth. Jayce then went to the room to change his clothes and asked Raevhen to eat. She nodded, and soon after, they joined Arima at the table to eat together.
The next morning, when Arima woke up, Jayce was already gone. This pattern continued for the next few weeks—Jayce always left early and came home late. Arima grew more and more curious about what his father was really doing.
But he focused on his daily quest. At noon, he went outside and looked around to make sure no one was watching him. Then, he pull out the dagger from the blue screen. His face lit up with amazement at how light it was. He felt more comfortable holding it thanks to his physical training. His training had leveled up, and when he reached level 5, his strength began to grow.
Arima looked for a place to train with his dagger. When he saw a cluster of trees in the forest, he thought it was the perfect spot. He tried wielding the dagger, but at first, it was hard for him to use due to his lack of experience. However, after swinging it for hours, he started to become more familiar with it. His speed improved, and he moved with increasing agility.
A moment later, while resting from swinging the dagger, Arima practiced other techniques to improve his skills. As he was thinking, he noticed a pig eating grass. He smiled and said, "Hunting!" while pointing at the pig. "Hunting makes me strong, just like in the anime," Arima said to himself.
He immediately grabbed his dagger and jumped toward the pig, but the pig was no ordinary one. As soon as it heard Arima's footsteps, it immediately ran. Arima tried to chase it, but the pig was fast. He stopped for a moment, thinking of another way.
Then, trying to do a cool move, he gathered his strength, took a big step with his left foot, and threw his dagger at the pig. With the power of his physical training, the dagger flew quickly toward the pig and struck it in the head. Arima was amazed at how strong he had become.
He was surprised at how strong he had become, unlike before when he could barely swing the wooden sword. His motivation had grown, and it made Arima feel thrilled. Unlike his past life, where he just worked, worked, and slept, barely having a day off to do anything else, now he could do what he wanted. This new freedom excited him.
In the next few months, he continued practicing secretly in the forest after completing his daily quests. He always came home late, just like his father, but Arima always arrived earlier than Jayce. His level increased rapidly, and before long, his movements were as fast as an assassin's.
Over the months, Arima's speed had become much faster. He could now behead a pig in a single strike and even match its speed. Arima's awareness had widened, and his body had taken shape—his shoulders had become broad, his six-pack abs were showing through his shirt, and his hair had grown long, though he didn't notice it. He was completely focused on his improvement.
When Arima finally finished his training in the forest, he prepared to return home. Before heading back, he checked his status:
[Status]
Name: Arima Parker
Strength: 20
HP: 100
Skills: [Dusk Slash]
Level: 10
A lot of improvement had occurred over the past few months. "My strength has leveled up rapidly, huh?" Arima said, wiping the sweat off his face. He returned his dagger to the blue screen, leapt onto a tree, and prepared to head back home.
But a moment later, he sensed danger around him.
