Rin Replaced (BL)

Chapter 22: Changed

Jay

"What the fuck, dude? Who are you? Did getting hit by that car give you superpowers or something?" Parker shouts as he rubs his neck.

I'm wondering the same thing. Rin has no reason to be this good. The more time I spend with him, the more confused he gets. I want to know what exactly this guy is hiding because this doesn't add up. After I met Parker and learned he was a pro-MMA fighter, I looked him up. He has a 10-2 record. There was no way someone of Rin's size could stand up to him the way he just did without some training. All the information Anon has collected on Rin and Parker doesn't show any background that would insinuate this kind of skill.

"I am wondering the same thing," Anon says with a scowl.

Anon won't hold back if he is suspicious of someone.

"Who are you? What exactly are you hiding? Even your cousin, who you grew up with, doesn't understand where you got such skills and strength." Anon walks over to me and stands just in front of me.

Why is he protecting me? It's not like Rin would dare to do something to me in front of all these people. I still don't believe he would do anything to me, period. Even with all my doubts, I still trust him with my life.

Rin is nervous. It's obvious.

"Uhh, um, so I can't normally do this? Ha-ha, maybe I was taking lessons to surprise you, Parker." Rin says, trying to defuse the situation.

"Nope. You didn't even have time to take care of yourself half the time, let alone have time to train as hard as you would have needed to get to this level." Parker walks over to Rin and grabs his bicep.

"Dude, you don't even have enough muscle to take me down. That proves that your skill level is abnormal. People can take down just about anyone with the right amount of knowledge and skill. Strength isn't everything." Parker lets go of Rin's arm and walks over to the bench and a towel.

"I'd have you come to the gym with me now and then, but you never showed interest in MMA. The way you dodged and put me in a triangle choke shows you are skilled in martial arts." Parker has a point.

We need some answers. I don't feel like Rin can blame this on his memory loss. Talking to the people closest to him has only made his memory loss seem less believable.

After the first round, everyone was on edge. Parker didn't want to continue the match because he was worried he would take his emotions out on Rin. Parker clearly felt hurt by Rin hiding things from him. Rin looks as if he is strategizing. I don't know what he is planning, but it will be a bald-faced lie.

"Um, hey. Can I talk to you guys?" Rin says with his head down.

The three of us remain silent.

"I want to tell you the truth, but I know you won't believe me. I don't really believe it myself. I mean, it doesn't even make sense. It's like something out of an anime." Rin stops talking for a brief moment, gaining his composure.

"I am from a different world. I woke up in this body after getting shot and killed in my original life." Rin lifts his head and looks at us.

Oh fuck, He is serious. You can tell just by looking at his face that he actually believes it. Anon jumps up from the bench. Shit, Anon is a realist through and through. He won't believe this. I better hold him back.

"Shot? Well, that ridiculous question you asked the nurse now makes sense. You thought you were in the hospital because you got shot in your other life, right?" Anon asks.

Okay, I have had enough of the unexpected for one day. Does Anon actually believe him? That isn't like him at all.

"Yeah, I was so confused. I thought all of you were fucking with me. That was till I looked at my hands. I saw that they weren't my hands, and I freaked out. I ran to the bathroom and looked in the mirror to find I wasn't in my own body anymore. I didn't know what to do, so I played it off as memory loss, so I wouldn't be put in a mental hospital. I am still worried about that, by the way." Rin is talking differently now.

It seems more relaxed but also nervous. His speech patterns are a little different, too. This is all too much. Apparently, I'm not the only one who is overwhelmed. Parker begins pacing back and forth. He has something to say but doesn't seem to know where to start.

"HAHAHAHA! Okay, that's enough. I don't know how the fuck you got the prince in on your little joke, but I've had enough. Do you think I would believe this bullshit? This is cruel. You made me think you forgot me just for some foolish prank? Rin, tell me, okay? This is a joke. RIGHT?!?!" Parker yells.

He is furious. Parker begins to cry. Rin looks defeated. He is at a loss for words. He starts picking at his cuticles. That nervous habit again. Wait? That is something no one can fake. He is doing it subconsciously.

"Parker, I know this is a weird question, but does Rin have any nervous habits?" I ask.

I hope this will help prove whether Rin is lying or not.

"What? Uh, I don't… OH! Wait! Yeah, he would tug on his ear anytime he was worried or stressed. Why?" Parker looks confused.

I motion towards Rin. I don't say anything, hoping to keep Rin in a nervous state. Parker stares at Rin for a while. He finally notices Rin picking at his fingers. Parker glances up at me in shock. He walks over to Rin and crouches down, placing his hands on Rin's.

"Stop. You're bleeding." Rin stops and looks up at Parker. "I'm sorry, Parker." Tears start rolling down Rin's face.

"It's okay. I believe you. How can I not when there isn't a single trace of Rin left? Even his nervous habits are gone. I weirdly feel better knowing that you aren't Rin and not that Rin forgot me. Though that brings a new feeling of loss." Parker pats Rin on the shoulder and sits beside him.

Parker puts his head in his hands and sighs. Rin looks over to me. I can tell he is wondering what I think about all this. I don't know how I feel, though. It's too far-fetched to believe, but it also makes sense. If he isn't Rin Grace, then who exactly is he?
