Rise of Super Beast

Chapter 17: Chapter 17: From today, we are both stranger

Standing on the branch of a tree, Sam indicated toward the cave, "Here is the pack of beginner beasts."

Gasping for breath, she tied her hair. "Ca... can't you mo... move slowly?"

"My sorry. I forgot."

Divya almost resisted the urge to stomp her feet while her chest rose and fell in anger. "Okay, I was a fool to compare myself to you."

"Will you call your friends, or..."

"They would already be battling the beast while I'm numb with anger. Okay, I'll go and hone myself."

"Take care."

"Not making me angry should be enough to take care of me," she said and entered the cave.

"Ahah," a scream rang out as Divya came out of the cave while a bat flew past, almost brushing her.

Holding enormous anger, she shouted, "You tricked me!"

"Having bats in a cave is a normal scenario. You should've been taught that," he said, shrugging his shoulders.

Seeing the almost guiltless but still lecturing attitude, this really irked her. "Okay. Okay," she muttered, clutching her bow, then entered again while lowering her head.

Sam's ear twitched as he sensed something and closed his eyes. Something related to me?

"Sadness! Anger! Helplessness! Disappointment..." he murmured and opened his eyes.

Appearing behind Divya, he touched her head, and instantly a sharp blade materialized and transformed. Slowly, it covered her head, shoulders, hands, and bit by bit almost fully encased her, as if Divya were now wearing an ancient vest and helmet.

"I'm sorry, but the harsh reality is like that," he said with these words, patting her shoulder.

Meanwhile, Divya continued to move, clutching her bow.

With a sigh, he continued, "I don't know many emotions, but I can feel them. My life... is full of tragedy, but your emotions now remind me of those emotions. What I'm doing is for your own benefit. Never get too attached or hold expectation to anyone, not even me, because... our worlds are too far apart."

"I don't have any attachment to you, but... you treat me too harshly... and... don't reciprocate my feelings."

Patting her head, Sam replied, "I may be younger than you, but you would've heard about us. We aren't human. We are products, and needless emotion will only corrupt our decisions. No matter what the situation, I was paid for you, so I can follow your orders mindlessly. You have to at least use me, so in the end, you won't be at a loss."

Seeing her gaze, Sam turned his head. "I don't have a heart to feel emotions. We are machines, so expecting me to reciprocate your feelings will only hurt you. Just treat me as you should," he said and moved outside of the cave, leaving faint words, "You should focus on training yourself."

Again, appearing on the branch, Sam caressed his heart. Emotions! I don't want to repeat history.

The Emberfluff materialized on his shoulder.

Meow.

Caressing its fur, a faint smile appeared on his face. "This is enough for me."

...

Calming her emotions, Divya's eyes turned frosty. "From today, we are strangers," she muttered, releasing continuous arrows toward a 3-meter-tall bear.

Gawah!

Grunting, the bear threw a stone, but as if Divya's mind had become clear, she analyzed the opponent, continuing to release arrows at its vital organs.

In the end, she released her signature arrow.

Bang!

The ice-and-fire arrow burst at the bear's face.

Thud!

Lifelessly staring at Divya, the beginner-ranked bear fell to the ground.

Storing it in her storage ring, she exited the cave. "Guide me to my group."

With a leap into the air, Sam continued to jump from branch to branch while Divya, riding on Reshma, followed him.

"How's it tastes?"

"At least let me taste it properly," Amrita said, taking a bite of roasted rabbit.

Gulp.

Everyone swallowed their saliva.

Sneha suddenly grabbed a hand. "Monika, that's for Amrita only."

"Okay, leader."

Licking her lips, Amrita picked up another roasted rabbit. She gave a thumbs-up and took a big bite, intentionally leaving some on her lips.

Teasingly, she licked her lips and gulped it down.

Everyone heard the swallowing sound.

Unbearable, everyone turned their heads. Let's wait for Divya.

Swish!

Divya, riding on a peacock, appeared in their sight.

"What did you bring?"

Smiling, she dropped the carcass of the bear.

"That's so big. Leader, I can't wait. Roast this bear," Monika almost pleaded to Sneha.

...

"How's everything going?"

"We inspected our range again, and everything is positive."

"Okay. Let me inspect myself one more time."

"Again, as he appeared, he also disappeared."

"That's how maybe he was taught."

Everyone's ears perked up.

"What's everyone listening to so intently?" the previous bodyguard who had commented rolled his eyes.

....

"Blurp*

"I'm full."

"Yeah, leader. We are full."

"Thanks, Divya, for your treat."

"No need for that," Divya replied and rose. "Leader, we should go now."

Glancing at the sky, everyone nodded.

"This is life. Enjoying and overlooking the sunset and beautiful scenery."

Everyone nodded, but a sharp statement sent a chill through the air.

"The beautiful things also hold dangerous thorns," and with this, Sam stood before them.

"You may only see the beautiful," and glancing at the sunset, he added, "I know the cruelty."

Coming near Divya, he continued, "Miss, we should now depart."

"Ok," came her perfunctory reply.

"That was fun. We should hold these weekly to hone ourselves," she said, rising from her seat.

"That's a good suggestion."

"Ok." Everyone rose, and the leader, Sneha, agreed. "Ok, we'll discuss another day. Let's leave now."
