Rise of Super Beast

Chapter 23: Chapter 23: Error

Without relying on any of his abilities, Sam evaded the incoming attack with ease and landed a solid kick on the beast's hindquarters.

Using the momentum, he leaped into the air, twisting mid-flight, and delivered another devastating kick to its back.

Crack.

The beast, standing on all fours, crashed to the ground. Sam showed no mercy—his movements relentless as he struck the same spot again, driving the beast deeper into the dirt.

Roar!

With a thunderous cry, the beast summoned its strength, leaping into the air and leaving a gaping pit in the ground beneath it. The tide of battle had clearly shifted in Sam's favor.

Yawning, Sam muttered under his breath, "This is getting boring."

Despite its injuries, the beast refused to back down. It charged forward, mouth wide open, aiming to swallow Sam whole. As the beast's jaws came dangerously close to his face, Sam grabbed its mouth with both hands, stopping it mid-lunge.

The beast strained with all its might to clamp its mouth shut, while Sam countered, using both hands to force its jaws apart. Blood dripped from his fingers as the sharp teeth tore at his skin, but his grip never faltered.

Ahaah!

Roar!

Both poured all their effort into the struggle, and in the end, Sam won.

Kacha!

With a gruesome sound, he tore the beast's jaw apart, the bones cracking under the pressure of his hands.

The beast collapsed lifelessly, blood pooling around its battered body.

The ground was painted crimson, and the forest around them fell eerily silent, devoid of any movement or sound.

Sam's eyes widened as a translucent panel appeared before him, shimmering faintly. Reflexively, he reached out to touch it, but his hand passed through the holographic interface.

"Is this... possible?" he muttered, disbelief written across his face. "How did I not know about this before? Maybe this is why I was sent here..."

As he reviewed the notifications, pieces of a larger puzzle began falling into place.

[Error encountered.]

Staring at the string of errors, Sam's eyes gleamed with curiosity. "This... shouldn't be happening."

He still remembered that after being selected for the Perfect Camp, he had heard rumors.

Supposedly, if any Perfect Certificate holder crippled their body and killed all their beasts, they would have the chance to bring their body to its fullest potential.

However, no one had ever succeeded because it required many harsh conditions. One crucial requirement was that your body's cells needed to remain as active as a newborns to repel the harsh reactions that placed immense strain on the body.

Sam's body trembled. "Doesn't this mean... I fulfill all the conditions?"

Thud.

His legs gave out, and he collapsed onto the blood-soaked ground, staring blankly at the sky. Memories flooded his mind, piecing together moments that now made sense—how he had always woken up in safe places, his body strangely intact despite brutal fights. But these errors... they had never happened before.

Why now?

Lost in thought, Sam's focus was suddenly jolted by a sharp vibration from the panel. It flickered like static, forcing his attention back to reality.

"Leave the mysteries for later," he muttered, shaking his head. His gaze returned to the panel as its contents shifted and reassembled into something new.

Sam's mouth hung open in stunned disbelief. "It's real," he whispered, blinking rapidly to ensure he wasn't hallucinating.

The memory of his previous system lingered in his mind, but this... this was beyond anything he had imagined.

The enhancements, the functions—it was nothing short of heaven-defying.

Suppressing the tremor in his hands, he collected the beast's body into his storage ring, then jumped onto a sturdy tree branch to steady his thoughts. Inhaling and exhaling deeply, he calmed his racing heart.

"Should I inform someone?" he wondered aloud but quickly shook his head. "Too risky. There's too much at stake. This secret must stay buried."

He glanced at the horizon where the fading darkness resisting the rising sun. As his thoughts settled, the old system interface flashed briefly in his mind.

Snapping out of his daze, Sam patted his cheeks lightly.

"Stop daydreaming," he chided himself, though his trembling body betrayed his calm demeanor.

Who wouldn't be excited by a twofold boost in genes and access to a shop?

Taking a moment to meditate, Sam steadied his nerves.

"I've got one week to max out my attributes," he resolved, leaping down from the tree.

Without hesitation, he sprinted deeper into the forest, leaving only afterimages behind.
