Chapter 6: Chapter 6: Transform
"You'll only have to take care of the wild beast."
"Eh! Can you both handle the creature?"
"Don't worry about that. We have a plan."
"Okay."
Sam stood on a branch, calmly listening to their interaction and casting his gaze at the mess: carcasses of wild beasts, some in bad shape with organs hanging out of their bodies, created by the whirlwind.
Even though it had become a mess, it was good for them as it reduced the smaller minions.
Looking at the creature, Sam's mind drifted to a terrible past he didn't want to remember. He shrugged his shoulders.
Better to focus on the present.
As the whirlwind calmed down, the creature stood still, its eyeballs rotating in every direction.
Instantly, its eyeballs stopped, and the air rippled around it.
Sam found himself on the ground.
"I was careless," he thought and disappeared from its sight.
This time, the creature's eyeballs stopped at the werewolf.
Sam's eyes constricted as he warned, "Car--" but before the word could even be uttered, the werewolf stood at Sam's previous position.
His eyes blinked. "Where am I?"
Suddenly, he felt a huge force coming in his direction.
"I'll di--"
"Short man!" Sam screamed and appeared between the creature and the werewolf.
His hands reflexively crossed out; a whip materialized into two boards with densely packed springs between them.
The moment the creature's razor claw was about to make contact, a thick layer materialized around Sam's body.
Bang!
Crash!
Thud!
It all happened in an instant. Sam found himself hanging on the branch of a tree. Before him, numerous broken trees lined up in a straight path.
After a moment, his body reacted.
He vomited.
Blood splattered on the ground.
"AHH!" A scream tore from his mouth as he felt his body being ripped apart from the inside as though all his organs were disrupted.
On the other hand, Short-man's situation wasn't any better than Sam's. His beast had been destroyed for the second time in five days.
On his knees, the short man struggled to handle his trembling body. Blood leaked from the corner of his mouth.
"Is this the last battle?"
Thud*
With that final thought, the short man fell to the ground.
Regaining some composure, Tall man witnessed everything unfolding.
"Are we going to die?"
Grrr…
A soft growl rang in his ear. His body shuddered, and he instinctively took a step back but was still a moment too late.
AaAhh!
An arm flew into the air, and blood thickened the atmosphere.
Clutching his torn arm, he quickly tore his cloth and bandaged it while glancing at the creature.
But the creature stood still, as if savoring the despair enveloping everyone.
Moments ago, the battle had been in their favor. Now, it tilted toward the creature.
Enduring the pain, Sam smiled, and a murderous aura materialized around him.
Rising from the ground, he summoned his beast. Emberfluff materialized on his shoulder.
Caressing its fur, Sam smiled. "Buddy, it's time to play your role."
Meow.
Emberfluff nodded.
"Transform."
Before them stood a humanoid tiger with orange sclera, vertical black pupils, and mysterious black-and-orange patterns on its white fur. The only thing making it more sacred and ominous was the blood leaking from the corner of its mouth.
"It's been a long time," he said, licking the blood.
Its vertical pupils fell on the creature, claws radiating from its paws, ready to tear apart any enemy.
As the creature was about to land the finishing blow on Tall-man, Sam instantly displaced himself behind the creature, a long thick chain wrapping around its neck. Without giving it time to react, Sam displaced himself onto a thick branch and jumped to the other side.
SHSH!
The creature hung in the air while Sam stood on the ground.
"Hey, Tall-man! Use your sword to cut its leg!"
"Hey! Are you listening?"
Tall-man's eyelids trembled as he opened his eyes. Groaning, he rose from the ground, his body trembling and filled with claw marks. A long claw outline was etched onto his face.
Touching the wound, his face filled with fear.
"Saved? I was saved."
A voice entered his ears, and he saw a sight he couldn't forget.
"How can this be possible?"
Shaking his head, he cursed. "Can't waste any more time."
Taking up his sword, he transformed back into a werewolf.
Instantly, a new arm grew where the torn one had been, and he ran toward the creature.
Jumping into the air, the werewolf slashed at the other claw that had come out from the creature's back.
Grrr.
The creature groaned, randomly waving its razor claws and legs in the air.
"It's too tough," the werewolf muttered, but he wasn't about to rest. He jumped into the air again.
Grrrrr!
Blood splattered in the air, and a chunk of flesh fell to the ground along with another razor claw.
Katch!
Sam's face darkened. "Is this the time for this shit?"
The werewolf took a step back in fright.
Thud!
The creature fell to the ground, rolling over.
Appearing at its back, Sam materialized the whip around its neck again.
"Try to maim it."
The werewolf calmed its frightened body and ferociously aimed for the creature's thick leg.
On the other hand, Sam persisted, kicking at the creature's eyeball with his feet.
He felt he had struck a solid object and applied all his strength.
Ding!
With all their effort, the creature struck the ground, bouncing back in an attempt to break free.
"AAHH!"
Using all his strength, Sam pulled the chain. The whip seemed embedded in the creature's neck as if about to penetrate.
Sam's pupils constricted as he shouted, "Don't appear in its sight!"
