Secret spy

Chapter 23: swim and relax (a moment of peace): 1

The two sisters were quiet for a moment, the silence between them gentle but comfortable, as though both were lost in thought. With the peace of the garden settling over them, Selina decided to break the silent between them. She turned to Alicia with a soft smile and asked, "Would you like to go for a swim?"

Alicia blinked, slightly surprised by the question. She had been so absorbed in the tranquility around them that the idea of swimming hadn't even crossed her mind. But the thought of cool water and the chance to let go of the lingering heaviness in her heart was appealing. She looked at her sister and smiled back.

"That actually sounds like a great idea," Alicia replied, her voice lighter now. "I could use a bit of refreshment."

Selina chuckled softly. "I thought you might. There's a hidden lake nearby, surrounded by enchanted trees and glowing lilies. The water is crystal clear, and it's always the perfect temperature."

Alicia's eyes lit up with curiosity and excitement. "That sounds magical," she said, rising to her feet. "Lead the way."

Selina stood as well, brushing off the flower petals that clung to her clothes. "Trust me, it's one of the most beautiful places on the island. You'll feel like you're swimming in a dream."

Together, they began to walk through the winding path of the garden, the scent of blooming flowers following them as they made their way toward the hidden lake, their spirits lifted by the promise of a peaceful swim in the enchanted waters, Alicia's gaze wandered to the nearby hill. There, she spotted Zephyr and Luna, along with the other unicorns, frolicking and playing in the distance. The sight made her smile.

"It seems the unicorns are having a great time," Alicia said with a light laugh, her heart warming at the carefree sight.

Selina glanced over and smiled as well. "You're right," she said. "They're enjoying themselves."

Alicia's gaze lingered on them for a moment longer before she turned back to her sister. "Looks like they've already started their fun."

Selina chuckled and gave Alicia a playful nudge. "Well, it's our turn now," she said with a grin. "Our fun is just about to begin."

With that, they continued their walk, heading toward the waterfall. The sound of rushing water grew louder as they approached, Alicia looked at her sister, puzzled as Selina pulled her toward the familiar waterfall. She couldn't help but wonder why they were back here so soon. She had just been through this area with Zephyr a little while ago. "What are we doing here, Selina?" she asked, her brow furrowed in confusion.

Selina turned to her with a raised eyebrow and a playful smirk. "I thought you wanted to swim earlier," she replied casually.

Alicia hesitated, her eyes darting around the serene sanctuary. "Yes, I did... but we're in the Heart of the Sanctuary. How can we—" She began to explain, but before she could finish her thought, Selina walked toward the crystal Alicia had noticed Zephyr interacting with earlier. With a knowing smile, Selina gently touched the glowing stone, and to Alicia's shock, the ground beneath her feet gave way.

Alicia's startled scream echoed through the chamber as she plunged into the darkness below. Her heart raced with fear as she fell through a narrow tunnel, only to land on a smooth, stone slide. She squealed as the slide whipped her through twists and turns, the ride so fast and chaotic that Alicia couldn't keep her eyes open. The path dipped sharply, then shot upward, twisting left and right in a dizzying zigzag. Alicia clung to the edges, her stomach flipping with every sudden shift.

Back at the top, Selina chuckled softly to herself, clearly amused by her sister's reaction. She hadn't expected her brave, strong-willed sibling to be so rattled by something so playful. With a grin, Selina leaped into the tunnel, enjoying the slide like it was the most natural thing in the world.

Meanwhile, Alicia reached the end of the ride, where the slide slowed slightly before launching her into the air. She barely had time to open her eyes, and when she did, her breath caught at the sight of the glowing water below, its radiant light casting an otherworldly glow throughout the dark cavern.

For a moment, Alicia was mesmerized by the shimmering beauty of the water so much so that she didn't even realize she was plummeting toward the ground. She gasped just as she landed with a soft thud on a massive, mossy mushroom. The surface was slippery, and she scrambled to keep her balance, but before she could regain her footing, she slid off the edge and landed unceremoniously on her rear with a soft "oof."

Alicia sat up and dusted herself off, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment. "Well, that was... unexpected," she muttered to herself. She stood and took a moment to survey her surroundings. The cavern was dim, but the glow from the blue water provided enough light to see by. It was an enchanting place, with soft, bioluminescent plants scattered around and crystals embedded in the stone walls, shimmering faintly like stars.

She turned and spotted the slide she had just come from, shaking her head with disbelief. "That was one wild ride," she said aloud, still catching her breath. she took in her surroundings, she noticed a waterfall cascading softly into a pool nearby, its gentle flow adding to the peaceful atmosphere.

Selina's laughter echoed from above as she finally emerged from the slide, landing gracefully on another mushroom beside Alicia. She hopped off effortlessly and stood with a wide grin, clearly enjoying the adventure.

"Not bad for your first time down the Sanctuary Slide, huh?" Selina teased as she dusted off her hands.

Alicia glared at her sister, though there was a hint of a smile on her lips. "You could've warned me, you know!" she said, crossing her arms in mock annoyance.

Selina just shrugged, still grinning. "Where's the fun in that?"
