Chapter : Chapter 0 : The Escape and the Betrayal
In the shadow of Drakoria's main castle, under the cover of a moonless night, Seraphina Astralis fled with her newborn son cradled in her arms. Her heart pounded with fear and determination as she navigated the dense forest, each step taking her further from the life she once knew. The air was thick with the scent of pine and earth, and the distant howls of wolves echoed through the trees.
Seraphina, the last daughter of the fallen Empire of Astralith, had been living under the guise of Seraphina Valeria to protect her true lineage. But now, with her son Seren's birth, the fragile peace she had maintained was shattered. She knew that the bloodline she carried was both a blessing and a curse, and she was determined to protect her child from the forces that sought to destroy them.
For five years, Seraphina and Zephyros had shared a bond forged in love and secrecy, a connection that transcended the political machinations of the empire. But with Seren's birth, the weight of their reality became undeniable.
For five days, Seraphina and her son traversed the wilderness, seeking refuge from the relentless pursuit of those who wished them harm. Exhausted and bleeding from the arduous journey, she finally found solace in a hidden cave, its entrance concealed by a curtain of ivy. The cave was cool and dark, a sanctuary from the dangers that lurked outside.
But safety was fleeting. On the fifth day, as dawn's light crept into the cave, Seraphina's pursuers closed in. Among them was Lord Zephyros Drakoria, her husband and the father of her child. His eyes were cold and unyielding as he entered the cave, flanked by his loyal guards.
"Seraphina," Zephyros said, his voice a mixture of anger and betrayal. "You cannot escape your fate."
Seraphina clutched Seren tighter, her eyes filled with defiance. "He is our son, Zephyros. He deserves a chance to live."
Zephyros's expression softened for a moment, a flicker of the love they once shared. " I will call him Seren and give him a chance to live" laughing. But he must be thrown to the Exiled Lands. It is the only way."
With a swift motion, Zephyros drew his sword, the blade gleaming in the dim light. Seraphina's heart ached with the knowledge of what was to come, but she refused to show fear. Her last words were a whispered plea to her son, "Seren, live."
The cave fell silent as Zephyros's blade struck true, ending Seraphina's life. Her body crumpled to the ground, her lifeblood staining the earth. Zephyros stood over her, his heart a tumult of emotions he refused to acknowledge.
Zephyros yelled "let her be devoured by the wolves, be sure to let a magic recorder to save the moment maybe Serene one day will be able to enjoy the moment of his mother death"
With a heavy heart, Zephyros lifted from his leg the crying infant from his mother's lifeless arms. Seren's cries echoed through the cave, a haunting reminder of the life that had been lost. Zephyros turned and left the cave, his mind set on the path ahead.
Returning to the castle, Zephyros entrusted Seren to the care of an elf slave named Elara, the same woman Seren would see upon opening his eyes two days later. Elara, with her gentle demeanor and nurturing spirit, accepted the child with a solemn nod, understanding the weight of the responsibility placed upon her.
As Zephyros walked away, the castle loomed large and imposing against the sky, a symbol of power and control. Yet within its walls, a new story was beginning, one of magic, destiny, and the unyielding spirit of a child named Seren.
