Shadow Blood and Fire

Chapter 35: Slicker

Salopot Migrandes clothes, shoes, and the entire outfit were worth over a hundred thousand credits. The purse she carried was the collector's edition of LV. She was in a pink NeonSilk brands Ct10 dress and a pair of shoes from Atlas Genkins, which her father had bought for her from Planet Sandraton. Meanwhile, Eli was in a pair of twenty-credit jeans and a five-credit T-shirt. The two stood face to face, looking like they were from two different worlds. Though Eli could look kind of handsome with his muscular build, which couldn't be hidden under his clothes, and his fiery red hair, she had to shake her head to remind herself he was a pauper.

While she was checking him out, Eli was also checking her out. Her arcane energy was cyan, indicating she was a level 4 ability user. The shades on the glowing ball-like arcane energy were limited to a small region, showing she was in the introductory level of her advanced battle arts. Although she looked defenseless, she was anything but that. The other girl's arcane energy was purple, indicating she was a level 5 ability user. The shade on her fiercely glowing arcane energy was on the side like a shadow, showing she had yet to break through in her advanced battle arts. Milliette Visoki also had cyan arcane energy, indicating she was a level 4 ability user. The shades on the side were an even darker shadow, showing she was close to making a breakthrough in her advanced battle arts. They were all geniuses in their own right, but this girl giving him the stink eye was far more impressive. The other girl, who was a level 5, could be more impressive if she made a breakthrough, but from the light shades of her arcane energy, it was obvious she didn't take advancing in her advanced battle arts seriously.

"Hey, dude! Do you know how many people wanted to date her? Okay, let me see: the super smart kid who already got admitted to X GODN University, the super rich one whose dad could buy half of the district, and the one whose dad was going to be the new Ambassador! Guess who she chose? NOT YOU!" Salopot Migrandes lashed out at Eli.

"Salopot!" Milliette Visoki glared at the girl, willing her to be quiet.

"Don't worry; I am not interested in her. Her mom wanted me to come here to join her for a party," Eli said as he glanced at Milliette Visoki.

"Salopot did not mean what she said; I hope you don't mind," Milliette Visoki said faintly.

"Yeah, right…" Eli thought to himself. He quickly plastered on a smile and shrugged it off.

Seeing that Milliette only gave Salopot Migrandes a perfunctory glare, Eli knew that Milliette had acquiesced to her actions.

Eli turned his attention to the other girl who had been quiet and hardly said a word since he arrived.

Feeling satisfied with Eli's silence, Salopot Migrandes buried her head in a fashion magazine, pretending Eli wasn't there. Eli went to the counter, ordered a cup of cappuccino, and sat down at the table. He stared at Thalassa Aurelia, noting that he couldn't feel any animosity coming from her, which met the conditions for his skill Omnipotent Eye in case there was a trigger.

The glamorous girl wore a black crop top that accentuated her ample bosom and left her toned waist bare. Below the waist, she wore tight denim shorts, revealing long legs that could steal a boy's breath away. Her porcelain-like skin was almost luminescent under the sun. Although she didn't wear luxury brands, her body and exquisite beauty made her look like a supermodel even in ordinary clothes.

[–5 HP]

Eli's vision blurred as his eyes became slightly tinted crimson. Countless visions of Thalassa Aurelia flashed past his eyes in the span of 5 seconds. She was a fine arts student. She was going to Spectre Film Academy next year. Later, she became a popular actress. She accidentally ruffled some wrong feathers and never appeared on TV again. After a while, her reputation was tarnished by negative news and scandal in the media. Unable to bear the stress and bouts of depression, she killed herself at the young age of thirty. Eli took his time to adapt to the disorienting feeling and the details while he sipped his coffee.

"Of course, the skill is so OP," Eli mused.

"Life isn't fair!" Eli gave a wry smile.

As if she felt Eli's gaze on her, Thalassa Aurelia finally turned around and asked with a frown, "Do I know you?"

Unlike her cold appearance, her voice was soft, if not cutesy.

"I don't think so… But may I introduce myself? You see, I am not from a rich family, but I can see things that even the richest can't. I am a fortune teller by birth," Eli jested.

"Ah- You don't believe me, no? Let's see… You are a fine arts student, and your last name is Aurelia."

"Oh? Really? What else do you see in me?" Thalassa Aurelia's interest was piqued instantly.

"Let me see." Eli paused and pretended to ponder. "You will be admitted to Spectre Film and Television College in the future, become an actor, and finally become a big star."

"How do you know that I am going to Spectre Film and Television College? And you are right. I always dreamed of becoming a TV star!" Thalassa Aurelia answered incredulously. Her mouth gaped open in sheer surprise as if inviting a kiss.

Salopot Migrandes laughed out loud. "Are you dumb, Miss Aurelia? You are one of the most famous girls at Hutton Academy High. He must have learned everything about you from people at school," Salopot Migrandes explained. She then turned to Eli with a contemptuous look. "What a loser. Are you switching your target already?"

Milliette Visoki also furrowed her brows and felt disappointed. She had never thought Eli to be such a slicker.
