Chapter 1224: Imbuing elements (1)
A bitter smile appeared on my face when I heard this, but I quickly shook my head to throw that bitter smile away.
It didn't matter how she discovered it, the most important thing was that she had discovered what the use of this orb was.
Since she discovered what the use of this orb was, I also figured out what the demons were using the orbs for.
No, I already knew what they were using the orbs for since I had seen the way that the orbs had been filled with corruption energy. It was better to say that I had a better understanding of what the orbs were and what the corruption energy was.
The orbs were clearly a vessel for holding elemental energy.
It didn't work when I injected pure mana into it, but the ice elemental energy that Puffer accidentally poured onto the orb was absorbed by it. That showed that whatever this orb was, it had an affinity for elemental energy.
That meant that the corruption energy was some kind of elemental energy as well.
It was just that we had no idea what kind of elemental energy it was.
I had no idea even with my knowledge from the game since this thing had never appeared in the game before.
I couldn't even begin to imagine what kind of element the corruption energy was.
It seemed like it was dark elemental energy, but it was different from the dark energy that I knew of. I had seen dark elemental energy from the relics that the Holy Empire has shown me since I had considered that this was dark elemental energy when I first saw it.
But I knew that it was different.
It was similar, but there was something different about it.
It was as if a part of this corruption energy was dark elemental energy and a part of it was something completely different...
While I was lost in thought, Puffer suddenly said, "There's something else that I want to show you."
I was immediately pulled out of my thoughts when she said this and I followed her over to another room of this lab that I gave her.
This was a room that was completely void of anything other than a cage in the center.
It was clear that this was some kind of experimentation room, but I was curious what kind of experiment she wanted to show me.
Puffer didn't say anything as she called out for an assistant and this assistant came in from a different room.
I was surprised to find that her assistant was Ariel.
I knew that the two of them had been close during this time, but I didn't know that Ariel was working this closely with Puffer.
I couldn't help wondering what her parents would think if they knew that Ariel was learning this much about sea witch magic...
But for now, I was more curious about what Puffer had to show me.
The thing that Ariel brought in was a rat which surprised me as well.
I didn't think that there was anything that they could demonstrate to me with this rat, but it turned out that I was wrong.
"Watch carefully." Puffer said as she moved forward with the same orb in her hand.
I raised a brow as I watched her bring the orb closer and then a look of shock appeared on my face when I saw that she put the orb into the rat.
There didn't seem to be any resistance at all from the rat as the orb was pushed right into the rat's body.
After being pushed in, it seemed to disappear without a trace.
At the same time, there was this faint blue glow that appeared around the rat.
After pushing it in, Puffer quickly moved away from the rat and closed the cage around it.
It didn't take long for the rat to start acting up.
It was as if it had suddenly gained a burst of energy with the way that it stood up on its hind legs.
Then all of a sudden, there was a burst of ice that appeared around the rat.
It was as if this rat released all of its energy in this burst of ice with the way that it suddenly exploded around it.
The ice continued to spread for a bit before suddenly coming to a stop.
Along with this, the rat fell straight forward and landed on the ground with its face planted straight into the ground. It was as if it had lost all life from using that energy to create that ice.
I didn't say anything as I carefully watched this unmoving rat for a bit, but then I asked, "What happened to it."
Puffer didn't look at me as she continued staring at the rat as well. After a moment of silence, she said, "Same thing as the others. It couldn't take all of the water elemental energy that was imbued into it and it died from being overloaded by that energy that was injected into it." "Same thing as the others?" I couldn't help repeating before narrowing my eyes to ask, "How many others? Also, what did you use?"
Puffer just said with a sigh, "It's not that many since it hasn't been long since we discovered this. We were only able to secure a few test subjects and none of them were that big. If we could get a stronger specimen, we might be able to create something that has never been seen in this world before."
The more that she spoke, the more the madness filled her eyes.
As expected of one of the Five Great Witches of the Sea.
With a cough, I brought her attention back and said, "I can't say that I agree with creating something like that, but this is certainly an interesting topic that you've stumbled upon."
Puffer's eyes lit up when she heard this before she said, "Then you'll give me better test subjects?"
I shook my head at first which disappointed her, but then I added, "It isn't as if I can give you living test subjects since that would go against my morals, but...I think I have a solution."
She just looked at me with a confused look at first, but eventually Puffer nodded to show her
agreement.
It seemed that she really was devoted to her research.
