Chapter 39: Chapter 39: Put “a perfect match” on the screen
"Your Majesty flatters me. Come, try the clothes over here first."
"Alright."
On the way to the fitting room with Selena, Leon leaned over and whispered in Rossweise's ear,
"You're already the Dragon Queen. Can't you just have her come to provide door-to-door service?"
"Dragon Kings or Queens of different tribes can only command members of their own tribe, and the dragons of Sky City don't belong to any tribe."
"Then your queenly status is pretty low, huh," Leon teased opportunistically.
Rossweise glared at him. "It's still higher than yours."
"Tch."
The four of them followed Selena to the fitting room.
Selena picked out a suit and was about to introduce it to Leon when she suddenly noticed...
"Your Majesty, your husband's tail..."
"Ah, my husband doesn't like to show his tail. Could you please pick a tail-less suit for him?"
"Of course, Your Majesty."
As a seasoned photographer, Selena had seen all kinds of dragons.
There were quite a few who didn't like showing their tails, so she wasn't too surprised.
She prepared a standard tail-less suit for Leon, who obediently changed into it.
"Wow~ Daddy looks so handsome in a suit~"
Leon stood at over 1.8 meters tall, with a classic inverted triangle physique—lean in clothes and muscular without them.
In over twenty years, he had only worn a suit once, and that was at his graduation ceremony from the Dragon Slayer Academy.
He himself didn't think he looked particularly handsome.
But right after the ceremony ended, junior girls lined up to ask him out for meals.
Back then, Leon replied seriously:
"I still have to go back and shoe my master's donkey. Next time, for sure."
When his master heard about this, he hugged the old donkey at home, smoked the whole night, and still couldn't figure out what the kid was thinking at the time.
Snapping out of his thoughts, Leon looked at his reflection in the mirror.
He did appear a lot more mature and steady than back then.
Luna wagged her little tail excitedly, looking at her dashing dad and praising him non-stop.
Leon reached out and ruffled Luna's hair, then turned to his "reserved" elder daughter.
Noah froze, turned her eyes away, and stammered, "Y-you do look pretty handsome."
A suit is the best aesthetic treatment for men—it highlights temperament and physique.
Since even the elder daughter said he looked good, it must truly be the case.
Feeling smug, Leon glanced at Rossweise.
The queen examined him seriously, nodded, and gave her evaluation,
"It does look a bit strange without a tail, though."
'Madam Dragon, in this life, I will never put on a tail.'
After picking clothes for Leon, Selena also selected a gown for Rossweise.
The gown was an off-shoulder design, mainly black, with dark red accents around the waist and hem, adding a touch of mysterious elegance to its dignity.
However, because it was an off-shoulder style, the neckline was low, revealing a small part of the dragon pattern.
Rossweise shyly covered her chest. "Teacher Selena, could you find one with a slightly higher neckline?"
"Of course, Your Majesty."
Selena smiled, as if saying, "Young people these days, really daring."
Leon seized the opportunity to lean close to Rossweise and whispered, "When are we getting rid of this bothersome dragon pattern? It's even inconvenient for a photo."
"Shut up. Once the dragon pattern is engraved, it can't be removed."
Leon shrugged and said no more.
In the end, Selena found another suitable dress for Rossweise.
The two daughters, of course, weren't left out.
Their clothes were easy to choose—if one was satisfied, the other would definitely be satisfied too.
After over half an hour of preparation, the family of four was finally ready to take pictures.
The first shoot was the family portrait.
Leon held Luna, and Rossweise held Noah, the two standing shoulder to shoulder.
In the camera lens, the pose and positioning were standard enough.
But... it didn't quite look like a family portrait.
Selena put down the camera and politely said, "Your Majesty, could you and your husband pose in a loving manner?"
The awkward couple froze simultaneously.
Rossweise: "Loving..."
Leon: "Pose..."
Selena smiled and nodded. "Yes, yes, super~~~loving."
The two glanced at each other, then turned their heads away simultaneously.
Rossweise cleared her throat twice. "Teacher, do you have any pose suggestions?"
Selena thought for a moment and replied,
"Typically, couples should be more intimate but not overly flamboyant, so things like hugging, touching noses, or gazing deeply into each other's eyes."
'Hugging.'
'Touching noses.'
'Deep gazing.'
'Goodness, teacher, just finish us off already.'
Seeing their hesitation, Selena felt puzzled.
'You already have dragon patterns, so what's the big deal about getting close for a photo?'
She couldn't understand these young people.
"In that case, how about the two of you use your tails to form a heart shape?"
"Tail heart..."
"Yes, it's very cute and playful."
Rossweise glanced at Leon, 'Now it is too late to attach a tail to this guy.'
But thinking about it, forming a heart seemed like the only action they could accept.
'Hmm…'
"What if I use my hand, Teacher?" Leon said. "My wife uses her tail, and I use my hand to form a heart. Would that work?" [T/N: 😑]
Selena raised her eyebrows and praised, "Great idea! That's a pose we've never tried before. Alright, you two get ready, and we'll shoot like this."
Leon's suggestion was relatively compromising.
It maintained the outward appearance of a harmonious family while sparing him the discomfort of attaching an awkward tail.
Rossweise found it a bit ridiculous but admitted it was the best solution under the circumstances.
She slowly raised her tail, curving the tip into half a heart shape and positioning it in the middle between them.
Leon also extended his hand, curving four fingers slightly and forming half a heart with his thumb.
The heart gesture with their "tail" and hand was well-done, but the two hesitated as if reluctant to touch each other.
Thinking about it, it made sense.
Neither of them had romantic experience.
Putting aside other matters, they were merely two people who had accidentally held hands once.
"Your Majesty, not done yet?" Selena prompted.
"Ah, it's ready, ready!"
Rossweise responded while glaring at Leon, whispering, "Be serious and stop fidgeting."
"I'm not fidgeting; it's your tail that's uncontrollable."
"My tail is nimble, unlike you, hesitant and awkward."
Leon didn't take it lightly.
He reached out with his other hand, directly pinching the tip of Rossweise's tail, and aligned it with his hand's heart shape, finally completing the pose.
Rossweise discreetly pinched Leon's thigh on the side, gritting her teeth,
"Don't touch my tail."
Having her tail grabbed by this scoundrel always brought back unpleasant memories of that night.
"Perfect~ perfect~ Stay in that pose!"
Selena raised her camera and aimed at the family of four. "Smile, both of you. Little princesses, strike your favorite poses too. Wonderful~"

The flash went off several times.
Selena took numerous photos to later select the most suitable one.
"Alright, thank you for your cooperation. Next, we'll take an enrollment photo for Princess Noah."
Luna, being sensible, immediately jumped off her chair upon hearing this and waited obediently to the side.
Selena also helped Noah change into a more formal young dragon dress.
While family portraits could be warm, enrollment photos had to be serious.
After changing, Noah stood between Leon and Rossweise, ready for the photo.
St. Heath Academy had strict family evaluation standards, so enrollment photos had to include both the student and their parents.
The awkward couple and the stoic little dragon girl all straightened their backs, hardly daring to breathe, their eyes fixed on the camera with expressionless faces.
Selena looked at the three faces in the lens and felt something was off.
'Serious, yes, but overly so.'
It didn't look like an enrollment photo at all. Cropping their faces into black and white, it could pass as a funeral portrait a century later.
"Alright, seriousness is good, but relax a little, or it'll look unnatural," Selena suggested.
"Understood, Teacher."
Selena truly had it rough dealing with this awkward family.
The husband and wife were sworn frenemies, and the daughter was a naturally stoic child.
